I'm asking this because i'm thinking of upgrading to one of these wheels but i stumbled by which one. I have budgetted £1,500 for a new rig and a wheel so which one should I get?

The CSR Elite sets a new benchmark in general as an all-round wheel.
I do not think very many T500RS owners would put their T500RS before a CSR Elite when looking in general at both. They each have their own little benefits though.

I can't comment from a PC user perspective only from console player.
One of the big drawbacks with T500RS isn't even a performance issue but a compatibility issue. Their seems no GNT all future PS3 titles will get it's full support in FFB.

T500 is a great wheel, compatibility is is only drawback other than the static paddles. Depends on what you play. CSR is great as well.

Looks like a forza badge in the centre just googled CSR Elite

It's a Forza badge because it's the official Forza wheel. People have covered it up though.

I am coming from a G25 and to be honest, the T500RS disappointed me. Great wheel, lousy pedals. The only reason you buy it is because you have $500 instead of $600.

My t500rs vs CSR-Elite review

pedals are awesome! But they are not as good as CSPs. But once they get some load cells they will be awesome I think

I race with my feet, not my hands. To me the T500RS's pedals have no feel. My G25 with a DYI sponge brake pedal is better, imo. My review is going up tomorrow.

I've traded my T500 for the CSR-E.

In my case it's a reliablity issue, I've "killed" 2 T's in less than a year so I just don't trust the Thustmaster anymore + it takes ages to get it back from customer support.

CSR-E has to prove itself though...Haven't driven it yet because of an issue with my CSP's...

The T500 is heads and tails better then any Logitec offering. By all accounts the Elite holds the edge to the T500, although there are compatibility issues with the T500 you do get a solid set of pedals with them for $450- $500 Cnd.

With the Elite you still need to buy pedals and since the Elite is the top Fanatec wheel ATM you will need to invest in the CSP which are the best Fanatec pedal ATM. So for nearly double the money you get a top notch wheel and pedals for $800 Cnd versus $500 for the T500

I believe this question depends on not only what you play, but why. The t500rs may have the edge for drifting and rally fans due to the static paddles and insane counter-steering speed. Whereas the CSR Elite was built for more precise adjustments because of the lighter and smaller wheel rim with less distractions such as cogging, non-static paddles, and brutal FFB (but still precisely strong and fast). I've only had the CSR Elite for four days (pics soon) and chose it over the T500rs only because I wanted to stop my FM4 game from collecting dust and give it a chance. If I didn't have an Xbox or planned on investing in one, I would have definitely and happily bought the T500rs since it is very much worth the cost (especially when it was $381 but not anymore :(), and also since drifting and rally is my favorite style of racing.

Elite is a better wheel, it has set the benchmark in steering wheel controllers.
The only area where T500RS is superior to CSR-E is drifting (due to rim design and fixed shifter paddles).

The Elite is virtually perfect for GT5. No complaints whatsoever.

What us wrong with the T500 in GT? I thought it was the official wheel.

I assume others commenting have experience with both.

It may have become so later on but it wasn't the official wheel at the start.

Sorry man, but the exact date the T500rs was announced and released, it was considered the Official wheel of Gran Turismo.

Really.... and they still spelled Thrustmaster wrong in the wheel setup? How does that happen? You're right though, it got secured last minute.

Your talking about PD here mate. Not exactly perfectionists.

It was and still is the official wheel. Along with the DFGT. They even messed up the RA dial on the DFGT in a future patch if I remember.

Hey VWMasteR checkout the Thrustmaster uber thread. In the original post the author described how the T500RS was conceived in conjunction with Kaz/PD 👍

That is part of the reason why I really wanted the wheel.

It wasn't last minute. It was always the official wheel. I saw it on a Japanese blog.

Originally before the release of the T500 as the official wheel for GT5 PD misspelled it in the set up menu as "TTHRUSTMASTER". It indeed is and was the original and official wheel for GT5.

Besides performance and compatibility, there's also the question of durability. Considering FFB wheel not only exerts force but also meant to handle force from the user, not only does it need to perform well in the first few days or weeks of use but also months and years after purchase (unless you upgrade often).

Looking at the two wheels- the simplicity and complexity behind each design, I would equate the T500RS to a G25/G27. Fanatec's approach is considerably less utilitarian. Of course, at this point both wheels are relatively new and it would be interesting to see in a few months which of the two proves less or more problematic.

Another interesting thing is which of the wheels is mod-friendly. My money is on the T500RS simply because of its likeness to G25/G27. Of course, those preferring CSR-E would argue that the wheel is already perfect to require any modification.

I'm not sure many would actually argue that as the rim seems to be a sore spot.

I'll have a look. When I was looking around it didn't seem like the partnership went back that far. Maybe I just hit all the wrong sites. I'll have a read some other time... but TBH ... I really don't care that much. The wheel would be decent whether it was the official wheel or not.

Not seen anyone mention which has the strongest FF out of these two.

You are aware one is gear driven while the other is belt driven?
