Is there any disadvantage to redeeming tickets ASAP?

Do not use it... Yet. You can trade them for good cars and even higher level tickets. Once you have traded it a bunch of times and you feel like you can't get any more out of it, use it. But save a back up first in case you get a bad car.

Duping applies to anything you can trade. It is basically "Back up your save. Send the item. Restore your save."

It also applies to everything you open ticketwise, unless it's a specified car.
Example: get level 21 ticket. Save, and back-up.
Open level 21 ticket, get NASCAR, but you already have one. Restore save, open ticket again. Get a Veryon. Already have one (or like most of us a LOT of them).
Restore save, open ticket again. Get a Chapparal 2J! Jackpot!! Keep car and enjoy.
Rinse and repeat with all other tickets in your Semi.

You could just make a secondary account to keep all your tickets in and then send the ticket to yourself or somebody else whenever you want over and over. One time per day of course. You will never lose your ticket this way.
