The Eddie Stobart liveried Mk2 Escort RS1800 Gp4 'LSV171', is perhaps one of the most instantly recognisable and competitive Historic Rally Cars ever. Built to the ultimate specification for an historic RS1800 by leading specialists Prepfab Motorsport Engineering, this car was driven by Jimmy McRae on the 2006 Roger Albert Clark Rally, winning by a convincing margin. Prior to the event it was tested by the late Colin McRae and his father in the Stang Forest.

Yeah, he also raced in 1981 in an Alfa Romeo 179D with Alfa Romeo 1260 V12 engine and running Michelin tyres.

Showing my age again, but the first F1 race I went to was the 1981 Dutch GP in Zandvoort so I was lucky enough to see Mario racing the Alfa 179. It was't very competitive but certainly was the best sounding car in the field. As it happened, both Mario and his teammate, Bruno Giacomelli, crashed out right in front of me (in separate incidents) at a corner called Scheivlak. Mario's crash was quite heavy and as he didn't move for some time there was an eerie silence as people thought he was seriously injured. He may have lost consciousness but thankfully it was temporary and he was able to walk away.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me for that race but here's a couple more from the '80s.

Just over 12 hours to go. I love the fact they've included the older F1 machinery!

Since our friends "Down Under" are just over 2 hours away from launch, and since most of us will be far too busy playing the game tomorrow to bother poking our heads in here, I thought I would "cheat" and get this out of the way now.

Courtesy of a special guest appearance by Jacques, let's all celebrate....... THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH!!!

It's been a great countdown run guys. I've seen lot's of great photos in here and had a blast.

Now I will say "see you in a few days", as I don't expect to leave my Man Cave until Sunday night  :gtpflag:

Hey guys, I had a good surprise yesterday in my mailbox (don't ask me how :D), I don't know who already played the game before here -I don't visit this part of GTP often- but you won't be disappointed !

I hope SMS quickly fixes the few (rather annoying) bugs I've already encountered though. :irked:
