Which of these cars is better, and why?

i myself am a hardcore bmw man...but in the contest between these two cars, i'm going to have to break my own heart and go with the jaguar. it's faster, handles better, and looks freakin' cool with the panels over the back tires. if it was any other bmw against any other jaguar i'd swing the other way but on this, you caught me with my hand down my pants :guilty:

BMW for me. The XJR-9 might be faster, but it looks hideous (read: the paint job) and the BMW is like liquid, it handles so well. Took it out in Real Circuit Tours (in stock, 154 points) today and after a first-corner incident at Motegi Road (nudged by R89C) I managed to peg back twenty seconds on the leading 787B in eight laps, including a pit stop.

Do you race?

yes, very ugly paint job on the XJR-9

In my personal testing on 16 tracks (best lap time) the BMW beat the Jag on every single one. I know driving style comes into play, but the difference was usually at least 2 or 3 seconds. So, I would have to say the BMW is by far the better car.

I voted for the XJR-9. It's got that sexy Group C styling and is faster and a better all around car than the BMW

I'm not questioning your vote, but have you done any sort of testing between the two. Just curious. I have found that cars I think are better don't stand up when put to an actual test for best times. Just wondering if you went with gut feeling or did some testing. I know idividual driving styles may have different results as to performance, and I would like to see some other people's results.

The BMW is smoother, for sure. And I hate the panels covering the rear wheels on the Jag. Ugly as sin.

yea lol, I agree, it looks ugly. If they were removed, I would take a pic of this car. The R89C is another one with those ugly panels.

Same sort of results I got. Bimmer all the way.

I gotmy hands on the Jag the other day, and I think it's not that great at all. Took it out on La Sarthe II and it just feels like it's floating half the time.

the jag is very ugly. it feels slow. the bmw though is a very nice car. if i felt like paying that much money i'd have one still.

both nissans are just ok due to the fact they only have 5 forward gears. i need 6 to have fun.

the only car i payed 4.5mil for was the pescarrolo jud c60 ps2 car. that wasnt that bad of a car with a turbo upgrade.

all that aside the minolta still owns all.

BMW. Looks good, runs good, and if driven properly, finishes good.
The Jag on the other hand needs some heavy tuning to be a contender.

I'd have to go with the Jag all the way. Much more fun to drive with all driving aids turned off, a real handful! The colours may not be the prettiest but that's because PD had to leave out the Silk Cut tobacco logo which justifies the colours as it is (or was?) their corporate colours.

I've only driven the Jag, didn't take to kindly to it. But how could you think it's ugly?!?!? I suppose you all think a brown Superbird or the Isuzu Bellett are ugly. :p

So I like "ugly" cars, so what?

Personally I prefer the Sauber
but the sauber doesnt handle that well. it does look good though.

the peugeot 905 is by far the worst car of this level. dont buy it for any reason. it looks ok but the shifting... sitting there all day waiting for the next gear to come up.

So that's why the thing has no ads on it. I was wondering about that. Anyways, I prefer the Jag, because I never was a fan of open roof LM cars, and I terminally hate the BMW in question for ruining a great race (albeit very unintentionally). Besides, I like the Toyota GT1 the most for racing at that level anyways. I only like the Minolta because it reminds me of a car from Ridge Racer.
