Why don't you run another spot race (in any car we like) before the season like you did last time and let the finishing order determine what order people get to select their cars..

It would be nice if this race took place after the 15th though, as thats when I am getting my own playstation.

Spot Race/Winter Testing:
This weekend, and we can setup up another one on the 15th. The trick will be to find a track that combines top speed with tight infield to get a good feel all cars. Motegi is a good one imo. If all agreed we can run our test session at Motegi this Saturday. Following that Saturday we can discuss and setup a poll following our results.

can we do it the day after the 15th? or maybe the following friday?

If we do the spotrace = car selection on the 15th I will have to scramble all day just to be ready by the time the race starts, if even possible.

I have to buy the PS3 and game, run up to my buddies house to get my save data from his, and install ALL of the updates (getting the original copy) All of this has to be done after I get out of work at 4pm est.

Sounds good to me. Should we pick a one car with sanctioned specs for everyone to drive? Maybe something none of us used like the Nissan.

All these fast guys should be team Razo Silvia next season, hehe'

Are we gonna do the success ballast this season? Can someone link me to the Rules or where this is explained in detail.

Also,

I think the we should NOT include soft tires. I think we should Go with racing hards or mediums, Or switch between the two. Why don't we just do a longer race to simulate pit stops?

For sanctioned races I think racing hards is the way to go. Softs are for public lobbies.

Softs tires exist in real life racing you know. In fact super gt uses softer compound tires. That's another reason they have tremendous speed compared to other forms of GT racing. Put it this way, the GT500 cars are as fast as LMP2's and the GT300 cars are as fast as the GTE's in the FIA WEC.

Tyres have already been voted on and finalised. There isn't much more voting to do really before were ready for season 2.

Are you unaware of how unrealistic they are compared to real life?

Racing hards in GT5 = racing softs in real life.

But if they are decided so be it.

I was shocked a lot of people didn't want softs. Softs are the bomb to me, they allow my car to drive the clean line to traffic. And the side by side fighting with other drivers is easier to do on the softer compound.

lol ok, I'm sure you know that. Listen, racing hards are racing hards. There is no "equals to real life" in this game. Even though we were running lap times about the same as GT300 does IRL last season with a good deal more HP than they do on medium tires. So if we have 360hp in our cars and they have about 330-350hp, how are they equaling the times we set? Answer, they have better tires IRL and much more downforce than GT5 replicates.

That's why with real life success ballast, GT500 car were doing 1:32's around Fuji-F. See if you can get that with your racing hards at 1150kg and 500 some odd hp.

Ok well compare your bit of information to the vast majority of knowledge on this website and you will find that softs are unrealistic in comparison to real life, and you are wrong about saying otherwise.

Hards force throttle control. Softs do not.

But hey they were already decided so end of topic I guess.

No one here has Super GT experience, so whatever you hear is bull. There are different tire constructions. Not every series runs the same tire compound. They may call them 'softs' or 'hards', but the Pirelli tires used in F1 are definitely not the same as say the Michelin compounds they use in FIA WEC. And even those Michelin compounds aren't the same as the Michelin's they use in SuperGT. So just because someone says so doesn't make it so. Don't you agree? I'm not telling you to believe me. I'm telling you what I know. I don't care what others have to say on the matter because GT5 tires aren't the same as real life tires. And in the real world, there are tire compounds that vary from series to series even though they may have the same 'phrase' of 'hard' or 'soft' the tires are. That's the point I'm making.

I get your point. Mine however went entirely over your head.

Soft tires are just to sticky for these low HP cars, I even think mediums are too,

I want mediums front, hards rear lol. But yeah the tires too sticky, can pretty much nail it out of turns.

The one reason why softs are still great eventho a lot of you claim there to sticky is, the dogfighting will be cleaner. Divebombers can stop their car btter, and 2 wide in the corners would be a lot cleaner with softs. This is the main reason why I want to run them.

Wasn't it voted for that you can use soft medium or hard in this series? Softs are clearly for qualifying. Then I think allowing softs adds to the strategy of the race.

Regardless I am excited for this season especially since there will be drops. For winter testing can we use any car we want? Also, as far as car selection why not run a qualifying week, spec car, no turning allowed, we pick our chassis in the order of our times.

Your point is useless IMO. So I don't care for your comparison of GT5's tires to real life. Do some research and you'll understand SGT doesn't run hard compound tires.

People ask for realism, but then they're wrong with wanting a lively car in these GT300's. If you want to drift go do a drifting series. If you want more power than grip then this GT300 series isn't for you. Because that's the opposite formula of what were running. These cars aren't overpowered tail happy GT machines. They're low powered, high downforce, superior grip machines. I hear those pure guys want to run these cars on sport soft tires. Maybe you guys will like that so you can have more 'fun' on the throttle I donno! IMO I prefer to run these cars on mediums and softs and simulate what these cars are like IRL. There's a reason it's called SUPER GT. ;)

For winter testing yes you can run whichever car you want. If our schedule permits it I will put together a spot race. 👍

Attention Champions I wasn't able to power up GT5 tonight so I will send your cars tomorrow evening pst time!

For the new tire rule in season 2 , i hope you have to start on whatever tire you qualify on.

isnt that what every one does any way you pick the quickest tire

It should make for interesting strategy play.

Yeh exactly , some would qualify on the slower tire and then use the faster tire later in the race for example.

I always enjoy series with this tire rule .

What im hoping for is 2 tires chosen for each track and you have to use each compound once , more or less like the f1 tire rule

The only problem we might have for this is if we have 2 rooms, it will make it very interesting as some people might be able to out qualify some running softs but most won't.

We can do that, but it will pretty much mean that we will all be on the same compound the entire race. I'm sure almost all drivers will be qualifying on the softer compound, and switching to the harder compound at the 2nd stint of the race. MAYBE'

not many have been able to pull off hard first then the softer tyre in my experience of two tyre setups they
A) have to be properly quick round the track
B) were racing some where like monza where you can draft

At tracks where you choose soft and hard you would expect everyone to qualy on soft but if the tires chosen for a track or soft med or med hard , you might see some going for the softer tire later in the race .
