Yeh we might still see a few 1 stops . I think Zach and I were the only 2 stoppers last season .

Yeah lol, saw you 2 stop and make it work so that encouraged me to test it out.

1 stop is possible if you just go by wear, but 2 stop will be faster provided you stop at the right times in the tyre life

joe there's ur logo

I like that logo will, great effort. I also didn't save any replays.

Anyone going online today ?

Im still a bit shocked how long the racing softs last , haven't used them in ages .

I was surprised to skeng, i still don't think a 1 stopper is possible though.

Also I'm pretty sure the MR-S has the same downforce 35/60.

Yeh the one thing i like about the fast fuel/tire setting is it promotes more pit strategy with having to add fuel .

Looking fwd to this season , doubt I will win at Fuji though , the long straight hurts my lap time.

Yeah that's why i suggested the fast setting, after racing pure the tyre and fuel management was brilliant.

We tested Fuji last night and your right, was really slow in the Celica and 3 laps in the Lexus and I beat the time by over a second. The one thing we need to do though is keep in the draft, down the straight I easily drafted past Calum in the Lexus. Lose it though and they are gone.

Yeh thats why i cried for the 374 hp for the celica , its real slow down the straights

Exactly, slow us down in the corners if they want but to leave us really lagging behind on the straights is harsh. We shouldn't have to be in the draft to set a fast lap.

Just looking at this seasons calendar and we have long straights on at least 6 maybe 7 of the tracks, Tokyo, Fuji, Spa, Monza, Indy, Motegi, La Sarthe. And on the small technical tracks where we can compete without draft, the Arta and RX7 are just as quick. The Lexus just has the power and torque to compete at any track.

I'm going to put in some extensive testing in the week to get some real data on the calendar.

Lexus always been overpowered .

Let the season play its course so the guys can get info for season 3 .

You say that Skeng but how much testing was done for season 2? I haven't done much as i was away for 2 weekends in a row but even last night there was 6 at most and a couple of them were new drivers. You said in season one your car was underpowered but was it actually looked into?

People will say the Celica is a beast at small tracks with small straights but how many of them are in the calendar, 2 maybe?

The track list, and specs as they stand will surely produce 2 lexus's in the top three of the championship.

Personally have tested all the cars bar the MRS/standard Subaru/silvia and they are as close as can be balanced without redoing the whole system. Something Joe specifically said he didn't want to do.

You say the Celica isn't fast in a straight line. It doesn't matter as it gains in the corners. At max downforce top speed varies maybe 3-4mph, it isn't exactly a Nissan Cube 10mph slower than the rest.
The Celica also has the best wear on the grid making it the best at the end of stints.
The Lexus is overpowered, but without it it is slow as hell getting out of the corners. Ideally we should have looked into getting rid of stage 3 tuning on it, but that's all.
The Arta is as fast as the Celica in the corners, and abit quicker on the straights, hence why it has received more weight this season.
The rx7 is slow as hell getting out of corners, but as it has a high top end nothing can be done. As increasing the torque by adding stage 3 engine will almost certainly mean the Celica is alot slower down the straights.
The Subaru is fast accelerating due to its awd system, but it ain't an easy car to get a respectable lap time out of.
The others I have no idea on, as A) I don't have them, and B) nobody used them last season

The aim is to get similar lap times, not similar speeds through every sector of every track, as unless we have track specific regs, that's impossible.
On the 6 tracks I test on, the cars are within .5-1s of each other. A decent tune is worth 1-1.5s and driver skill another 1-2s. The car specs AS THEY ARE in general isn't the reason why the field is occasionally skewed guys.

Now I have attacked the car regs in the past, but that is because changes were proposed which would dramatically effect 1 car.

For season 3 I promise to you guys I will work on the regs to get them as fair as possible with no limitations. All I ask is you hold tight for this season.

Season 1 was our rookie season ,getting everything going.
Season 2 is when we introduce structures to make things smooth and professional
Season 3 is when we will close up the field and bring every car into contention

I hope you fellas respect this

Lets see how the season plays out , should be fun regardless .

Ballast will always have an effect on things as well .

What are the 6 tracks you test on zach?

Edit - I do respect what your saying Zach but it shouldn't take 2 full seasons before the regs are fully looked at. Regs should be the number one priority for season 1 so it's a fair and even race if your quick enough. All other stuff should be tweaked after that in seasons 2,3 etc.

The regs were made entirely from scratch for a spot race before season 1, and we're then adjusted in season 1 to what they are now.
Regs changes will no doubt happen this season, but a complete overhaul was ruled out by joe I between these 2 seasons

Fuji, Laguna, Monza, Suzuka, Spa, Grand Valley are the tracks I've tested on

I think tire wear will play a bigger part this season with using soft tires. And ballast will definitely hinder that. So before we go saying the cars aren't even, you need to realize that the faster drivers/cars will finish higher barring incident. If a car keeps getting good results, they'll also keep getting more and more weight. That will definitely hurt tire wear, and play a big factor in how good these cars that are said to have an advantage really are.

Tyre wear won't make a difference from last season, the majority will more than likely have a stint on softs and finish on meds, only a few people will stop twice.

wat u think

Awesome man, send it over so I can post it instead of autobacs!

Honestly guys IMO skeng is going to take the championship regardless of hp or not. Uga was the only thing in his way and he's not here for season 2. No car has slower trap speed then the awd subaru, but you make it work for you by running lower downforce. Like Zachary and Seth said were endurance racing so tire wear, consistency and pit strategy will be key. The Lexus being overpowered I'm not so sure about that. Their domination ended at their last reg change. + or - 10hp/kg isn't much, trust me the best driver on grid is who is going to take the championship in the end.

I think there are a good 5 people, maybe more that will be up there at the end. I missed 3 races last season but was averaging 55 points per race. Multiply that by the 3 races I missed and you get 165 points I lost out on. Those 165 points plus the 382 that I finished with would have given me.... 547 points. In other words, a 3 way tie for first place. Now you can see why it doesn't even matter if you're the fastest or not. As long as you consistently place well and make each of the races, you can win the title!

Getting a DFGT to replace this damn G27. The potentiometers and the pedals in general are made so badly it would be funny if I weren't so mad. :grumpy:
3/4 of a year old, with a cloth over it when not in use and I play in socks, and the gas pedal sticks and has rust on it...

Ok fellas, I was getting the op pics for season 2 at Monza (no chicanes) and I though "hey this would probably be a good test track since we have a lot of straight away tracks this season, and this straight away here is pretty long!!!". After some laps that were all pretty much equal within tenths at least (me being the fastest in the '03 Cusco but definitely due to driver/chassis. Due to inconsistency coming out of the parabolica I started a race launching from a dead stop thru the no chicane and catching my trap speed right at the breaking point under the tunnel/bridge consistently I may add. Here are the results'

All cars 35/60 downforce w/ no draft pull.

Rx-7 '04 (w/ eng 3) - 159mph
Rx-7 '04 (no eng 3) - 158mph
Rx-7 '06 (no eng 3) - 158mph
Cusco '03 ------------ 158mph
Cusco '08 ------------ 158mph
Celica '00 ------------ 157mph
Lexus '10 ----------- 154mph
Arta '10 ------------- 156mph
Mr-s '00 ------------- 159+mph This baby was setting on the limiter and screaming for more!!!
Silvia '0? ------------- 160mph Slowest lap time by a tenth or two, but definitely not slow!

Imo the Mr-s is straight up a 🤬 bullet, hence why Seth might of made the switch. I believe this car is +10hp over the pace of the pack. The Rx-7 was the 2nd naturally fastest car on the grid and imo could be set at 1180kg. The Lexus I would drop -10kg, but not hp because even tho its trap was slow it accelerates the hardest out of all the cars except for Mr Awd Cusco and would keep in the draft pull. These are just my opinions and not new reg's for season 2.

After me getting caught up with testing and killing my available time for the night, I have the pics and saved the pics, but wont be able to load them to gtp until tomorrow.

Phil, cough*Fanatec*cough even-tho I'm still roughly about 7 tenths slower with it then my D-pad.

The MRS is about the same as the 03 Subaru in top speed at the tracks I tested with the downforce being the same- 33/50. It seems the MRS gets to its top speed quicker. At least in the top end even though it has 10 less HP. IMO, I really need to find a way to get the car to have a good balance between understeer and turn in. I can get good turn in but seems to push out. If I try a few more things with the suspension setup I think I can get a good balance. We shall see.

Yea i had problems controlling the MR cars, but an expert would be blazing around the track in those babies!!!

joe if you could msg me ur email address then at some point to day i will send it

JoeTruckV8@yahoo.com

I ended up posting the pics, but I will edit the reg's & drivers underneath tomorrow. I still did pretty good for a limited nights worth of work.

the mr drivetrain need a certain style to drive quickly i used to be quicker on them with a wheel as you get he precision so i could run it on its its limit but with a controller u rely on visual cues to correct over steer and this wastes alot of time

Mr is lovely on some tracks , i think in dirty air is where i have issues with mr most times .
