Helicopter being prepared to airlift Bianchi.

:nervous::nervous::nervous:

Looks like a bad hit.

They're really doing a podium in this situation?

Thank you guys for the report!

Oh man that looks very bad, dear god hope he is ok.

They are doing a podium...

Mika Salo has said that Bianchi is seriously injured. :nervous:

Very somber podium there. Reports are the Medical helicopter is now starting up.

They did a podium in Imola in 1994.... A somber podium, just like this.

Also the music is toned down quite a bit. Not the usually celebratory blaring.

Not quite. They needed Red Bull to score 4
or less points to win it. But they could well wrap it up next time.

Edit: Curse you double points!

Looks like everyone's forced to be there. :indiff:

Have to question the race director here.

At Silverstone, the race was red flagged whilst a barrier was fixed in a position where you'd never expect a crash. Yet here, in wet conditions, they allowed a tractor on to the outer track in a seriously dangerous place. I remember one of the commentators saying 'that will be a safety car' when Sutil went off, yet none appeared.

I live in New Orleans and have dealt with hurricanes in the past and I have to say, it seemed strange to run a F1 Grand Prix with a typhoon only hours way

No Champagne spraying, hardly surprising, and they are doing the interview as well!

Double points in the last race?

Yeah, that. I caught that before anyone mentioned it, but this thread moves too fast.

Edit: Curse you double points!
I think you forgot double points.

My calculations say there are 215 points remaining.

Really hope Bianchi is ok.

Did some one just say "f vettel" and boo...that was stupid if so

Hearing some things that the FIA have told people Bianchi's unconscious.

On TV it looked like the right rear tyre of the loader was flat.

That might have just been the angle of the TV camera but it looked like it was. That'd take a lot of force to puncture.

I suppose sideways is better than head one, another positive is that the cars were running at a reduced speed so hopefully the impact wasn't as bad as we're all fearing.

Nope. Sideways is worse. The crash structure and safety devices are geared towards absorbing the most kinetic energy in a head-on hit. The car is still tremendously strong if you hit sideways, but not quite as strong, and it's a very low car, chances are it could have slid under the crane, with Bianchi's helmet hitting the body of the vehicle.

Possibly.

No need to say how bad that would be...

Apparently the helicopter has left.
