Both cars which aquaplaned of the road were still on intermediate tyres, that is undoubtedly a major factor behind the crash.

That's the contributing factor.
Much more important is that they didn't wave double yellow or even deploy a safety car for that high-speed and slippery corner.

Sutil says the crash was the same as his, under waved yellows. "with a different outcome"

Apparently according to this:

Update: Helicopter was able to fly. Ambulance was chosen instead. Possible ambulance was quicker/safer #f1

The helicopter was able to fly...

Bonus: "It was the medical teams choice not to use the helicopter for medical reasons. Might have been that nearest hospital had no helipad. #f1"

Nothing wrong with running the race when they did - the conditions were fine (unless F1 is going to stop racing in the wet).

Error with the race director for not putting out the safety car when Sutil went off.

Sutil also wouldn't comment if the car hit the truck or not

Hamilton just commented how he felt the conditions weren't too bad, even towards the end - although making the concession that for other drivers they might've had trouble keeping heat in the tyres.

F1 cars aren't built to cope with colisions with crane trucks. The moment a truck enters the area, the SC has to go out.

Yes, I wondered why they didn't call the SC the moment the crane had to enter the track.

Vettel said that there were double yellow when he passed the corner, but I don't know if he passed it before Bianchi or not.

Hamilton said that he heard that Bianchi is severly injured.

Just an effort to clear this up, it was Dunlop curve, but which part? As speed builds as the cars go further through the curve(s)

What they should have done is wave double yellows from shortly into the S's, warning drivers to slow down a lot after Sutil crashed. I would argue that the safety car was not required for Sutils accident, but that would be borderline. The fact that inter tyres were clearly no longer suitable was a contributing factor, but when it comes down to it, it has been a bad call by RC, which I found they made quite a few misjudgements in my opinion. I feel the race should have started two laps earlier, and after Bianchi crashed and the Ambulance arrived on scene it should have been immediately Red Flagged. Because two cars going off at the same spot means a third could have, only the third time there would be a lot more to hit.

Nevertheless, all this is secondary right now, since the primary concern would be Bianchis condition.

At the end of road which connect to the east side of the circuit most probably.

I think that it happened at the right of where it says "Dunlop Curve"

Is the sky coverage still running? If there's anywhere online that's free to stream it and doesn't require a sign up can someone post a link?

They just finished.

And free streams of Sky are likely to be illegal.

The Sky coverage just finished. For now just keep an eye on Twitter and news websites.

They have just finished their scheduled live broadcast.

Ah cheers guys, really hope we hear a positive outcome soon.

To be honest, even though I want to stay positive, I am preparing for the worst. Feelings of sadness are mixed with sheer disgust for the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Don't want kevin to remember this birthday of his the entire life. Jules will recover hopefully and be racing soon.

I think the original Sutil incident probably would have been fine in dry conditions as waved yellows but given the wet and worsening conditions, definitely SC.

But it's easy to say that knowing what has happened

No News is Good News.

If he did die you would hear about it as breaking news.

Since I started watching F1 4 years ago I always cringed when a bunch of marshals or a truck are out on track where somebody has crashed and the cars are racing by at basically full out 100% or 98% through the slippery hazerdous crash area to not get penalized but to continue on at a very high speed. What FIA need is some hardcore local yellows that force the drivers to back off 2 gears, like if Dunlop was taken in 6th gear they have to be in 4th going through there.

Oh and try not to have the race DURING the typhoon!!!
