I got my P's on Wednesday, it's pretty cool :) .
So good to be free 👍

I'm pretty sure I just miss those new restrictions coming in.

Some people over here put a green P on their car after they've passed to let other drivers know that they're a new driver.

In Australia it's like a provisional license. It allows you to drive a car with as long as someone else is in there with you. (amongst other restrictions).

In Belgium, we have the same thing. We have a blue-white L on our car if you have a provisional.

"L" from "Leerling" and that means, student.

No, that's your "L's" or Learner's licence. Where you must have someone who has held a current open licence for at least 1 year. Provisional is where you are allowed to drive by yourself, but you have to be extra extra good ie. you only have a quota of 4 demerit points and must have Blood Alcohol Content of 0.

Nope. That's the Learners License.

Provisional differs from state to state. But in mine it mostly it means you're required to have a 0 Alcohol level all the time, power/engine restrictions on cars, other states also have 100km/h speed limits, passenger restrictions too?

I've had my Provisional license for 6 months to the day, and yeah, it's a big step towards freedom. You'll drive a lot more then you think to, I've clocked up 5000km in that time. And you'll soon find nothing is more fun then a good ol'fashion traffic light drag, I'm lucky enough to have traffic lights on a road nearby with a 90km/h limit, so they last into the 10s of seconds for me . Unfortunately, my car is so slow, I need to think I'm in a traffic light drag just to keep up with traffic, but it's fun none-the-less.

It depends. If you drive with an L in Belgium and you got your provisional license you can drive either with somebody or without. The difference is: you're allowed to drive alone if you got your provisional through a driving school. If you get your provisional with your dad or mom as an instructor, you're not allowed to drive alone. Both are with the L from Leerling.

Amen brother. I own and drive a '76 Corolla SE with a KE30 in it. The diff ratio is waaaay too short, it revs it's guts out at 80 kays in top gear (4th), and has bugger all horses. I still have a great time getting up it and slamming through the gears, pretending I'm in Fast and Furious or something

In Victoria we are getting all the new restrictions in June or July next year, so I just miss them too. I think the new restrictions we are getting are going to be exactly the same as what NSW's have now.

Had my licence for 18 months now (well, 18 months tomorrow). Got my green Ps a few weeks ago (2nd stage of Provisional Licence). First year of driving on my own has been good, learnt a lot more about driving than I did while I was on my Ls.

Just be sensible, and don’t become a statistic and give the government even more reason to come down hard on young drivers. 👎

I've had my liscense for a little more than a year and a half now. The process is a bit different here. We get a little piece of paper that is a permit after we take a written test and that is the driver's permit in which you have to drive with a parent or legal guardian in the front seat at all time, after you hold that for 6 months you get your liscense in which you will have 2 restrictions (plus corrective lenses, ect.) 1 is that you can only have one freind in the car at one time (but all the family members you want.) and the other restriction is a curfew of midnight. but now thats over, so no more restrictions for me :p.

I "could" have gotten mine on Dec 4, but my school takes really long, so it's been over a month since I signed up for behind the wheel, and I haven't heard anything from them yet.

wow I'm reading about how these licenses work in other countries...crazy. Some of you guys even have power restrictions!

Ya in the United States you just get a learner's permit where you have to drive with a parent (so basically its not "really" driving). Then once your 16 you get the real thing and you can go tear it up

Yeah, its cool, In the US, once you are 16, you could go drive your dads 454 Chevelle around town, no questions asked. :D

Here in Spain new drivers also must carry the L... which stands for Learner. Which is pretty stupid, since it should an A... Aprendiz, in Spanish.

But then again, I understand it's a Euro law, so there goes the L instead. Again, what can you expect since all Stop signs are in English, and have been that way before Spain entered the EU.

I’ve been on the road for 18 months and a cop hasn’t pulled me over once. I guess that’̱s what happens when you don’t drive like a moron…

Zero? That's unreasonable and ridiculous.

Not really, considering it takes alot less alcohol to get us young 'uns drunk than adults.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not unreaonable at all. But then, I don't care too much for alcohol..... yet.

I'm going for my Restricted (the second licence in NZ, the first where you can drive by yourself [and without stupid L's]) on Jan 8th. :)

All it is is a 20-minute test where you do basic stuff like turning left and right at lights, going round roundabouts etc.

same here

lol

i done it twice

stupid me was too nurvous the first time & failed

I had my test in Gatton, it lasted for approximately 35 minutes, and consisted of just driving around, doing a reverse park, driving through different speed areas, 3 point turn, and it was done. I was not as nervous as I thought I would be, which was good. I'm so glad I got it though :) :) 👍

I passed my motorcycle theory test on Saturday, which I suppose was some bizzarre Christmas present from the DVLA. :)

Now I have to wait another 3 months until I'm 17 until I can begin learning for my practical test. :indiff:
