Kart Racing - Most frustrating races in GT6?

@dracono99 Add weights on rear. I used 6kg 50% rear bias. It helped me lessen the spin outs. Also set your to speed to 120km or the lowest so you will have the maximum acceleration in GT Arena. I also used automatic transmission so i can focus on the race because shifting in there confuses me. Just be patient. Feather the throttle and braking and avoid the rumble strip and the A.I. The 2 lead a.i. will slow down in the later half of the 6th lap, (last U-turn i think) from there you'll get a chance to win the race. It's always like that but yeah It really is frustrating. My advice got me the gold so i'll share it with you.:)

thanks ill give it another go at some point im a fairly agressive racer i ruined my tires in a single lap of the ring just now n wasnt trying that hard but ill give it a go at some point

These are great. Would hope that more people online would race them and it's a shame we can't race in the classic karting tracks like Autumn Ring Mini.

The other main issue online is when you get paired up with some idiot from the Ukraine that's already lagging and when they make contact you can't actually tell if they did it intentionally or it was due to the connection.

Happy New Year to all of you

Will give this setting ago later tonight. Got gold at Brands, struggled at Willow Springs and got hammered at GT Arena. I then gave the races a try not in championship, and won Brands, won Willow but still strugged at GT Arena. So, will try again tonight.

well, i got some really good advice in this thread - i too really, really, hate the Kart Races - for the same reason as the OP. The first batch i nailed, but... the second... and now i am looking at the third... *shudder*

I don't know about you guys but I find Kart Racing to be the most frustrating facet of GT6.

In particular short courses, where the slightest nudge of a wall can ruin an ENTIRE race for you.

Arguably, one of the more unforgiving race types in my opinion.

What are your thoughts? I'm off to go repair my broken PS3 controller after 50+ restarts on the National A one!

I've had very little trouble with the kart races ! I found them to be fun actually ! LOL

It truly does require lots of patience. The GT Arena race in the IA Shifter races is the most difficult thing I have come across in a very long time. I finally did it though! Just now.

Top speed: 87mph
Added 13 kg, Ballast position remained the same.

Don't give up! That's all there is to it, just keep at it, don't go full throttle on corners, and you'll eventually get it. :)

I agree that Kart racing, is one of the hardest races in all GT6, due to the hard-to-catch AI, and hearing the buzz of the little 1-cylinder engine of the little kart is greatly frustrating.

Overall, despite me being new on the game, I managed to clear the Race kart Jr (10 HP) competition. 100% stock.

If you keep your line, speed and don't try to pass all of them at once, bearing in mind the leading kart will slow down in the las two laps, it then becomes an easy event to gold me thinks... :)

I'll invite you over for a couple of beers (after you golded my event) hahaha

I wish I could bro and no beers for me partner, gave up alcohol over 12 years ago

Good thing mate!

On-topic, I'll manage the karts, just need to find time to concentrate and as you said, don't try to be #1 halfway lap #1 haha

Like you I hated the kart racing events and found them to be very frustrating. However, this past weekend I gave it my best attention and based on advice from this forum I won them all. The key for me was adding 4kg of ballast at 50. Then drove steadily.

that's all fine & well, but when it takes me hundreds of tries to get gold on these shifter kart races when I can get gold the first time on all the car races, something is out of proportion!
I agree, I havent had much trouble with any other races, until I got to the shifter karts. especially last one.

For the shifter karts just stay a gear higher than you normally would. The karts have enough torque to still accelerate well, but staying a gear high kept my tires on the track.

Well its taken just over 2 hours but 125cc shifter karts is now done, thanks to this thread and perseverance tried about 14kg ballast at +50 i ran it auto box and by trying not to chase to hard (smooth is fast) good luck to all those who still have it to complete

The playing field is exactly equal in the cart races, while with regular cars you can just take a car that greatly outclasses the competition, or that really suits your driving style. The karts force you to change and are not very forgiving...
Either way though te A.I. in the kart races is less mentally challenged than the regular car race one.

I'd say it's a little bit of both.

I have to say congratulations to all those who have completed the Shifter event at GT Arena. I managed to gold the first 2 after advice from this thread but the gta is not possible for me. I have tried ballast, top speed changes, increased controller sensitivty but I just cannot do it. I either end up spinning or I am miles slower than the ai through the corners whether I brake early or late. I know people will say stay at it but I know when I am beaten. I really don't see how anyone has beaten this with a ds3. Props to those who have. Today my quest for platinum has officially ended

I did all the other kart races with little trouble, Just cant figure out why the SHIFTER karts so much harder for me.

Hmmm...well, thanks for the congrats but that is not what I meant. When I said my quest for it had ended, I meant that I have no chance of ever getting it as the event is beyond me (not even contemplating the RB at Goodwood). Oh well, I have bigger things to worry about in life anyway so not important in the grand scheme of things....but still annoying nonetheless. I still don't see how people have done it though.....I knew I wasn't that good at the game but this has made me realise just how bad I clearly am.

The Shifter karts are much harder because they are more powerful and with more gearing are much more likely to spin out. I was surprised at the jump in difficulty from 125 to Shifter. With ballast on the back of the kart, the first 2 are fairly simple once you work out the limits of the kart as the track is more flowing with more room to manouevre....the GT Arena on the other hand....

Ah...sorry i misunderstood. :sly: Maybe im just very stubborn about getting all golds that I really pushed myself to get them. The only golds left for me are the S-Class races. My hands are very sore BTW. 🤬 S-License test!!!
