Kart Racing - Most frustrating races in GT6?

another thing is .. im pretty sure ai karts are faster than you in straight lines , you can realize it in start of every race

I thought this originally too, but found I was taking off from the line at their pace once I whacked the transmission down a notch or two. I was struggling with a few races before I realised this was even an option.

Other than that, each time I moved up to the next class I'd just go out in a time trial or whatever for a bit to get an idea of what the new kart's like.
 
You're not golding 125 cart in GT arena with a DS3. If it's possible, I'd like to see somebody's ENTIRE setup because not a single one I've seen on this thread or any other cart thread works for me. People are putting tranny setups, or weigh setup, or steering sensitivity, but not everything they've done COMBINED. Best I've gotten is second with 40(!)kg of ballast to the rear and steering sensitivity on 5 with 75mph tranny (or whatever the minimum is on the auto settings), and I've golded every other cart race in the game on the first attempt, so I know somebody is not telling the whole story if they've claimed they golded this with a DS3.

You're not golding 125 cart in GT arena with a DS3. If it's possible, I'd like to see somebody's ENTIRE setup because not a single one I've seen on this thread or any other cart thread works for me. People are putting tranny setups, or weigh setup, or steering sensitivity, but not everything they've done COMBINED. I platinum the game and golded everything including all seasonals using DS3 (not seeing, using any guides, I grinded it all, 5hrs straight trying to gold IB-5 the Toscana Rally? :banghead:) all aids off and ABS1 but TCS0 on low to mid powered car and TCS1 in high powered cars (still learning). For the first 2 weeks i only practice and drive in Nurburgring. Its my first GT in PS3 (i skipped GT5) so I need to gain skills before attempting to race or do the licenses. Don't do something when your frustrated. Keep calm and focused. You'll do it eventually. I did mine on karts using 5kg in ballast 50% rear bias,120kph or 130kph in GT ARENA and KART SPACE and 150kph if open tracks (Autumn ring, Willows etc). Steering sensitivity depends on you. This is for Shifter Karts. If I remember correctly I didn't add weights, only changed the top speed in the other karts. Also try using Automatic Transmission in Shifter Karts in GT Arena.

I assume you are talking about the Shifters? I have golded it using a DS3 and majorly struggled with it. I have posted my combined setup before but here it is and it did work for me eventually:

Ballast: 13KG +50
Transmission: 86mph (less than that and it makes the Kart more likely to spin)
Steering Sensitivity: 3

With that setup, I finally got gold after trying various setups (mainly ballast changes) and getting silver probably 6 times. I can give you a link for my replay if you want (it's a RAR file) which shows an average driver who struggled big time managing it using a DS3 (you can tell from the replay that I use a DS3 as my steering is far from smooth) but the key things are:

Feathering the throttle past the corner apex to keep momentum and get the kart to turn quicker
Using the AI as an assist to get through some corners (and also to overtake them)

Feel free to pm me if you want the replay to show it can be done by someone with a DS3 who struggles with the karts

Don't you need a TV tuner or something to do that? I haven't got anything like that, I put it in a RAR file for someone else so they could import to their game to watch. If there's another way to do it (I admit I have no idea on these things), please let me know and I will do it (even if it would end up with lots of people laughing at me for being so poor with my driving :dunce:)

Which one's IB, 125s? For me, it definitely helped to just go out on a track and just run around on my own. Get a feel for the kart and the best lines, and also experiment a bit with alternate lines. With the way the AI tends to stick to the standard line (and park it in front of you if you try to follow them), it's worth knowing how nuts you can go off line, rather than just throwing it down the inside hoping for the best and then losing the position again as you scramble to keep it on track. Not that the idea's anything special about racing the karts in particular.

The Stowe circuit's a piece of cake, but the smaller karty tracks that are pretty much all corners, you need to be able to keep up the flow while flinging it about on and off line in a deliberate and controlled way as you navigate around the nutty AI. A lot of that's about the right foot.

@nursemorph Isn't an .mp4, .wmv or.avi can be readily uploaded to youtube? I once uploaded a .wmv file on youtube but that's 2008 youtube.

The problem is, with GT6 replays, the exported data doesn't contain the replay as such but just codes that only the game recognises (it isn't a .mp4, .wmv or anything....it is a .O). To upload them, you need a TV tuner/video grabber to , essentially, record it while it is playing. At least that's what I understood when I tried to find out about it the other day

If it can't be done, you can just video it while playing the recorded replay like banditkarter did then upload on youtube.

True..but the only camera I have capable of recording it is on my Galaxy Tablet and that doesn't stand up on it's own (and I don't have a web cam or anything like that and digital camera is not good enough with videos). I'll see if I can come up with something

Use anything to incline it. A box. A wine bottle. Stacks of books or games. Anything. Be creative! :cool:

i golded all karting events with DS3 and no tunes whatsoever

I golded this with the DS3. Wasnt easy and took many a go and several tantrums. 42kg ballast weight,36% ballast position, steering sensitivity to 3 and auto tranny to 120kph. Also bumped off other carts to get around corners faster and try to get into third place by lap 7 or your wasting your time. Enjoy. Oh i dropped the power to 98% as well. For some reason that worked wonders.

Let's try this again.

I have uploaded the replay of my win with Shifter@GT Arena to show it is possible to win with a DS3 and x/o buttons as accel/brake. It is not one for the purists as it is quite ragged and messy but it was effective. I have got the video to as best a quality as I can manage (make sure it is playing in 720p HD otherwise it becomes difficult to see....also, it may take a little while to stream fully as the file was quite large).

Settings:

Ballast: 13KG +50 (rear)
Top Speed: 86MPH
Controller sensitivity: 3



I hope this helps some people.
