So the very layout of the game almost forces you into an overpowered car because the only time you get a good race is when you have a car that is roughly evenly matched with the 1 fastest car in the race. However if you are matched with him, chances are you can't burn through the pack fast enough to catch him early and once he has put 10 seconds on your position, it's almost impossible to make up 10 seconds in an evenly matched card (at least it should be).

It's almost as if the game is built specifically to discourage racing with a well matched car.

Sure the game has its' share of issues but this particular fact ruins the single player game for me. This was also true in GT4. You have to run a car that is design to beat the one fast AI. That car will be a lot faster than all of the other cars. So it doesn't matter if there are 12, 16 or 100 AI as there is only one competitor. Interestingly the same is mostly true in B spec as well.

1080p was already sacrficed down to 1280x1080 (yes 1080p does mean 1920x1080 as it's an industry standard term for 1080 vertical lines in a 16:9 ratio which means the horizontal must be 1920 native or it's not 16:9) and it's ridiculous to extend someones specific claims to an extreme.

Perhaps he would sacrfice having an arm for more premiums or he would sacrfice his real life car for more tracks in the game...

Just because someone would sacrfice something for something else does not mean you can now lable them as willing to sacrifice anything for anything.
 
Easily, kill stiches, reduce the complexity of the premium cars by ~ 10% so the performance doesnt drop in game, and so there is less tearing.

Dont even bother starting to develop go karts, simply make sure thw cars you have done have a toy manufacturer logo on the bottom. Model the inside of the wheels of standard cars so when they flip over they dont look like junk?

PD chased down so many alleys, they never got to the end of a single one.

Hell, all they had to do was keep the features of GT3 and GT4 and GTP as they progressed.

It seems that in every area, UI, game play, graphics, economy, tuning, replays and physics they FAILED to bring the features the buyers recall enjoying in the previous title and they replace them with new "ideas" - Why the hell couldnt they just enhance the previous version. That way they wouldnt be faced with reinvention every iteration.

Most LOD systems in games these days probably means that it wouldn't make any difference.

It's 1080 HORIZONTAL lines from the bottom of the screen to the top
and 1920 VERTICAL lines.

Exactly. I don't get people's argument for this, play how you want to play! Nobody is forcing to use overpowered cars! If I remember correctly, it's common for games to give you the option to select your own difficulty. :sly:

Which is an option GT5 does not have, it does have lack of restrictions in races though and there is a difference. One adjusts your competition to give you more challenge, the other simply dictates how easily you blow by the always constant competition.

The problem I have with "just don't choose an overpowered car" is that it's not as easy to do as it sounds:

When you have a car game which is built around the concept of racing a range of sports cars, this never works perfectly, and since there are only two such games which I'm aware of, the choices are pretty limited.

In both Forza and Gran Turismo, the bots drive to less than 100% of the cars performance to give you a chance. HOWEVER, because of the physics of modding cars, by this very nature you're throwing variables into the mix which will vary things often dramatically. And this is in both games.

In both, if the lead bot has a BMW and you have the exact same model with no mods, and you race with no mistakes, chances are you should beat it every race.

If the bot has a BMW and you have a Mustang with roughly the same power, neither car will behave the same or have the same characteristics, so it's a crapshoot as to whether they'll have similar lap times, or one will have a distinct advantage. I don't think you guys trying to match cars really understand the headaches which real world motorsports leagues go through to homologate different cars to make them roughly equivalent. Expecting some magic formula to use with hundreds of sports cars in a racing game which strives for realism is an exercise in frustration. If it's easier in Forza... well, I think that says something.
 
I don't care about more events because online is where the race really begins. Don't need more cars, unless it's going to actually be desirable. Give me TRACKS!!!!
 
as far as earning credits for online races, how hard would it be for the host to have the ability to set a fee for entering, and then dispurse those credits by finishing position?

seems like this would solve two problems:

1. not being able to earn credits online

2. keeping idiots (not all of course) from entering every race and just smashing into everyone

Your list is not correct. Off the top of my head the 512 is in GT5 - there are also others that GT has that Forza doesn't - the 458 Italia for example. Not forgetting the two F1 Ferraris. Of course, the detailing is better in GT5 as well...

Ok, but you agree with me, that Forza release a new game every year. So its one year to develop a new game, etc. GT5 took 6 years to develop, so, i really think it is a good game, but not a game thats 6 year cooking, and when it come out, it already have A LOT, of missing things. Like, leaderboard, damage, de actualized car list, and the list keep going.

I really don't care if anyone agree with me, just expressing my point here, if a game took 6 year to develop, i would expect something much more bigger and intense.

The horizontal plane is scaled I believe. It still gives 50% more resolutions than 720p though, so it is noticeably better. But, yes, not 'true' 1080p.

Boosting is when people rig online matches to get XP or other special items. For example, if you kill, say, 200 people with headshots, you might get a special camoflage for your weapon. If you play like a normal human, it would take quite a while to get 200 headshots. But what these lame dudes will do is start a match with just the two of them and then shoot each other in the head 200 times to get the special camoflage or whatever. 👎 The same thing could happen in GT5 if you reward money/XP for online races... a couple people could get together and let the other win and then alternate to rack up money & XP.

This is why qualifying was so important... you can actually get an edge by hitting 1st or 2nd.

Which makes me wonder what PD was thinking for omitting qualifying. Or did it simply forget to add it altogether...

Saving mid-championship was another feature that unfortunately didn't make it in.
 
More than qualifying, to me it's worse the lack of free run before each race. Am I supposed to tune the car set-up only in the practice mode?

See, yet another feature that was in GT3 and GT4 and people came to enjoy these features and based on this past experience had a reasonable expectation that the NEW GT would have more, not fewer features.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this title will actually cost Sony damages. You dont hype a product for years and market it and turn up your marketing engine then at the last minute release and inferior product on th emarket place raking in HUGE profits and not expect to be scrutinized for unfair windfall borderline fraudulant gains.

Sony and PD need to fix this fiasco before some high-powered New York attorney that wasonce a starry-eyed GT3 fan decides to make his mark by asking Sony to explain themselves in court. :lol:

That would be a hoot - headline would read "Butthurt GT FanBoiey files class aciton!" hehe

I do not have much in the way of expectations regarding GT5 getting much better.
 
Ultimately it will cost them come time to sell GT6. GT5 sold a ton based on people's experiences with past GTs. Come GT6, there will be a lot of gamers that will be a bit hesistant to buy into Sony's hype (justifiably or not).
 
Screw Leaderboards and multiple car setup saves. More Phototravel Locations and cars please.
 
more premium cars is always welcome - i'm sure there were a bunch in progress when they RTM'd that would be easy to finish.

Way more interested in getting more tracks back in the game - I'd love to get Infineon back in as well as the others that were mentioned.

Some simple stuff like saving your view preference in the garage, and saving your in-game view pref as well would be great - it's the little stuff you do hundreds of times that gets annoying. Would love to be able to change cars in the track menu in practice mode - like you can in the online lounge, without having to exit through 4 menus, go to the garage, grab a new car and do it all over again.

Any AI adjustments would be great as well - I can deal with the rubberbanding, but when they slam you off the track on the last lap of the race... beyond frustrating. It's less of a problem with the higher levels and better cars, but it still gives me nightmares. Also, watching the AI be totally unaffected by going into the grass or getting hit - while the player is pretty much out of the race in the same situation is frustrating as well...

b-spec online? cute, but why? most people afk and use it for credits and cars

...and credits/xp for online races would rock. I've held off doing any online because of that - that and the idiots that play demo derby instead of racing. Having harsher damage options would help, so that they can only do it once :)
 
No matter how hard I try, I can't think like Kaz. Why he thinks we want 35 standard Skylines upgraded to be 35 premium Skylines and that's the priority I will never understand.

I am not one of these chronic whiner types. I actually love the game as it is, however the potential for it to be so much better without that much more work just screams out of it. When you combine that with 6 years dev time, people just get angry about the potential not being reached.

1. More single player content-how hard is it to throw a bunch of single-make and power-limited races in using tracks that exist.
2. Failing #1 (or in concert) add XP/Credits to MP.
3. Leaderboards would admittedly be pretty nice.
4. Stop talking about GT6! Doing that makes it seem like the fact that there was going to be another one was actually discussed and considered prior to pushing out 5 without perfecting it.

5. Possibly most important: Stop with all the marketing spin. Don't tell us you needed to delay launch by a month to perfect the game when the issue was that Sony said you needed to redo some code to be compliant with new PS3 firmware. Stop with interviews were you coyly hint at features and tease. We already own the game-we bought the features that were given. Quit begging for any extra sales out there of somebody holding out for some killer feature added after launch-there is nobody like that and the rest of us own the game.

I honestly do like the game as is though, that wasn't a lie. I can't wait to open up my DFGT on Christmas and feel like I got a whole new GT5 vs. playing with the pad for 1-5 (so far). I don't even mind that some standard cars have the jaggies even though I play with the view that shows those flaws most (currently). If you're looking at the car, you're not going to be driving very well....
 
Yeah... seriously.. the words "Gran Turismo 6" just shouldn't even be coming out of his mouth any time soon... I'm seriously interested about this "large" update. I feel like Han Solo right now.. "I have a bad feeling about this" :nervous: I'm definitly not getting my hopes up about anything to do w/ it!!
