 I've just finished watching the third part of the GT-R inside story, and I'm shocked and amazed by KY's brazen 300km/h run on an unrestricted public road.

What did he think he was playing at? Surely Sony should know better than to film stunts like that when this game is in the hands of impressionable youngsters.

Unrestricted or not, what KY did was scandalous, how would he of stopped if some car had pulled out in front of him? When your travelling in excess of 300km/h, you don't get time to react to anything, it just happens.

I also noticed that he didn't have the balls to pull it off at the 'ring', where he chickened out at around 280kmp/h. KY is a joke, and he should apologise unreservedly for this dangerous stunt.

I'm 35, Why? Is it acceptable if your older (or younger)?

lol, sorry. That was not meant to be for you...lol. I was chatting with other people, it somehow got pasted there. I corrected it ;)

You talking about the Autobahn video?

Well, he wanted to drive the first (stock) Japanese production car 300 km/h or above... And he did it (On public road).
I know it's dangerous (or however you spell it) to do it, so I won't... Or will I:trouble:

Anyways, I think it's cool to know that Mr. Yamauchi was the first to do it...

actually it was 310 km/h :p
and yeah, i do find it a bir irresponsible..
even being an autobahn, that doesn't stop a civilian car with someone a bit more distracted in it from driving in to you at such ludicrous speeds

To be honest if it was an unresitricted stretch of autobahn then I don't have a problem with it.

First he is far from the first person to have done a high speed run on one and then put the footage out publiucally, both Top Gear and 5th Gear have done it if I recall (and on Top Gear we have had high speed runs on speed limits roads). In addition I have a few DVD's that have runs on the Autobahn and Autocar did a DVD a few months ago in which a Veyron was taken for a high speed run on an Autobahn.

The second reason is that drivers on the Autobahn's are fairly used to people running at high speeds, its perfectly legal and reasonably common, also keep in mind that the 'ring is still public road.

Yeah, no worries!

I don't get what you are trying to say. Was he at the Autobahn?

Yes he was, but come on, 300km/h! The young boy racer who wraps his car around a tree may not be though...

He shouldn't drive at those speeds, in a game, that children of any age can play. Later in the episode he even went on to say that playing Gran Turismo had helped him become a better driver!

I know he was talking in relation to Nurburgring, but for those of us who only hear half a conversation, he basically said 'I can drive at extreme speed, because I can play Gran Turismo'! Is that the message PD and Sony want to put out?

I thought he had balls. Where better to test a road car than on worlds fastest roads? Autobahn is very safe indeed with far less distracted drivers than say, America. The left lane is reserved for such drivers on 'unrestricted' sections, the Polizei would have intervened had they felt the need to do so.

👍

I would have said something like that, if I didn't type on my PS3:p
And also, I only think some of the Nürburgring is public road...

So what, he's not breaking the law. Deal with it.

That's only 192mph. I've seen videos of well over 200mph on the Autobahn's. It's nothing new.

The entire of the Nordschleife is a public road, they are very clear to point that out to you when you drive on it, its an unrestricted speed limit and one way, but still subject to the normal rules of German roads. Only one exemption exists and that is when the track is used for racing.

Nope, he's just challenging it!

And thanks for the information Scaff:tup:
Is it a tollroad:p (Since you have to pay per lap)

Hmmm... I've no problem with him driving at 300km/h, bragging about it on a driving video game is what I took exception to.

I think all the Kid/Adults that crash into trees and other objects are irresponsible

Everyone loves to blame other people because they make a mistake.

"Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over."

Nope, he's just challenging it!
Not even that, as long as his driving is of an acceptable standard (and the German's take that very seriously) then he was well within the law.

How do you then feel about Top Gear? JC has bragged about exceeding the speed limit, driving while very tired, distracted (talking on the phone) on more occasions than I can count on the numerous challenges; all of which are sent out on prime time viewing around the UK and the world, with an audience that covers a far wider cross section of the public that GT will ever manage.

If KY is irresponsible, then by the same logic JC need to be banged up right away.

I also seem to remember Mr Clarkson and the Top Gear crew being pilloried for some of their more dangerous stunts too!

Why do you even care?

Is it going to keep you up at night? =|

Why do I even care? Because I do!

Two reasons: Firstly, cars are lethal weapons, and secondly, I don't want a hair harmed on KY's head because I wanna play GT5! :sly:

Maybe I shouldn't of called him a joke, KY is a great guy, IMO, he just did something very silly.

I know, but I can see that a few got a little upset, so...
I don't know how to say it but I'm sure you know what I mean...

I'm sorry but I really don't know where you are coming from. He is on the Autobahn, the last stretch of road where everyday people can go to experience the thrill of opening the throttle to your car and feeling the exhilaration of high speed driving. It is perfectly legal, (for now at least before legislation ruins it), and just like any other video, not to be copied.

Are you the type that wants to outlaw GTA IV and games of the like also because of what it might do to kids? If you are a parent, then its up to you to educate and monitor your child about copying things they see on TV, movies and video games.

I in no way approve of illegal street racing, but what Kaz publicly did was not illegal in anyway, shape or form.

Something people do every minute on that very road.

Just be thankful he didn't do it on a 'normal' public road.

All depends on the road and more importantly the local population. Last time (and only time) i drove on a German Autobahn virtually everyone was aware of their surroundings ie LOOK IN YOUR MIRRORS.
As a tourist when i hired a car they told me to be carefull and always be aware of others on the autobahn.
Here in Australia we did have (not sure if still do) no speed limits in parts of the Northern Territory.
The only thing to hit was mostly sand and the occasional truck yet the road toll there was the lowest in Australia (partly due to minimal traffic).
Having said that i think it was a bit irresponsible on KY's behalf the road and conditions didn't look that good. Lot's of boy racers out there.
All i'm saying is be aware of your surroundings and take care.
