I like American cars, but in my modest opinion, no essential cars are missing. There have been loads of threads about "missing cars" and everybody has some favorite car which isn't present.

I didn't attempt to troll, but I honestly never heard of these cars. I think these cars aren't even sold over here.

This game is made up of "street" cars that are more or less Japanese only cars in any sort of numbers. How many Dihatsus are running around England right now? Think about it

Can't vouch that much for England, but they're sure quite widespread in Italy. I don't think i EVER seen a buick or a cadillac here (or in any other european country that I visited at that, and i visited most), on the other hand

But that's exactly the point, people that don't live in the US never heard of most of the cars made in the US. That's what makes their relevance quite marginal worldwide.

And GT5 is a game released worldwide, for a worldwide audience.

You just can't see that it's the same over here. Mention Alfa Romeo or Fiat, Peugot or any others to a normal American, and I doubt they would know what you're talking about. It's the same over here for us, as it is for you guys over there. You hate our cars, we hate yours, story isn't changing. So maybe we should just drop the conversation, eh?

But he has a quite valid point. Most people outside the US never heard of the vast majority of the american car production. They aren't even exported because they failed penetrating the worldwide market.
Outside the US the american car manufacturing is represented by ford Focuses and similar mass market cars, that are still less popular than similar cars produced elsewhere. The rest? You don't see them anywhere, most people don't even know they exist or existed.

I think that is completely backwards. If it was in the game he would have a chance at experiencing, and learning about, the car that beat the BMW M5 around the Nurburgring. As many already mentioned, most people haven't heard of most he cars in the game, but because of the game those unfamiliar cars are now familiar. 👍

SO many good American cars, many listed in this thread alone. Not sporty at all? Not particularly interesting? Why, cause they can't be compared to a Lamborghini or Ferrari? What's your definition of "sporty"?

I would like to add to the list:

- All the 2.2L Turbo Dodges from the 80's (GLHS, etc)
- Early 90's 5.0L Mustangs
- So many late 60's, early 70's muscle cars still missing. (Dart, Cougar, etc)



Explain why the new 5.0L Mustang is faster around a track than the new M3? What kind of American cars have you been driving your whole life? Ford Festiva?

What's great about GT5 is that it give people a chance to know about cars they've never heard of. Prior to GT1 I knew absolutely nothing about Skylines and I'm grateful for the fact that GT1 had that car in the game as well as others because it's opened my eyes about a lot of other cars that aren't released in the US. It would be great if GT5 had more American cars as well as more cars from different parts of the world because it's allows true car enthusiasts to learn about other cars they've never seen or heard of.

The difference is that I don't HATE your cars, I simply don't care about quite a lot of them and I don't think that the game needs more.

You're saying that american cars are under represented, but then you compare them with Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Peugeot. So how many cars by Alfa, Fiat and Peugeot you see in the game?

This why your argument doesn't work. You're setting ridiculous success criteria. How can the Viper win races that were run before it existed? If you want a reasonable metric, you use the win ratio of the car in races that it actually entered.

The Cougar in the game is the 1967? Version. The above pictured is a 1970 Eliminator. Not the same car.

My dad had a 1970 Dart Swinger with a 340 in Forest Green. Damn nice car, wish he had never sold it.
