i see the people and reviewers complaining about jaggy shadows, poor graphics of standard cars or environments, stupid ai... on the other hand it is a huge game, 1000 cars, loads of content, they say...

i'm now level 25 aspec and 20 bspec and have a completely different opinion. of course, i see their points. but i just don't give a **** about some graphical issues for example. in my view the ugliest thing is the lack of events. i just don't understand it. there are about 120 races in aspec. most of them were stupidly easy and i just used about 15 cars to get to this point near the end of the game. the longest championship contains of 6 races.

i mean, gt4 had about 400 races. gt4 had so many championships with 10 races. i really just don't understand.

gt5 has so much potential. it has 1000 cars, you could have created so many different events. it has enough tracks. some tracks i never had a race on or just once. it's just so ridiculous. i would have been no work for them in comparison to the rest. and if they just added a feature to create championships (tracks, cars, rules), i would do it by myself. but i can't.

i can't describe how dissapointed i am. are some of you feeling the same way? or am i missing something?

Your not missing anything that I know of, and yes I feel the same way.
What on earth has happened to our beloved GT.

I feel the same way : I'm level 26 now, and even if I play at least 2-3 hours every day, I spend the majority of time in Practice Mode, trying some cars on different tracks, because I don't have nothing else to do, barring Endurance Racing, but I need to unlock them grindin in that stupid Indy Race, and I really can't help that. I get bored after 2-3 of them... and the fact that you can't create your own offline event is a big let down in my opinion... I love the game, it has a lot of potential, I really don't care about standard cars (I use a LOT of them), bad shadows, unrealistic damages etc... In my opinion the worst lack in this game is the lack of events in A-Spec mode. The rest is fantastic, nothing to say, but it's a bit sad that after 2 weeks of game I'm already testing cars in practice to have some fun...

I thought this from the start. It'd be nice if they would let people submit ideas for events.

Like a PT Cruiser event from the old.

A series where you do X amount of laps on every track. So you have to win the car at the end you'd have to do 20+ tracks.

Those are horrible ideas, but you get the point.

I was wondering if more events would unlock at higher levels? But I guess not?

It's almost like all the 5 years of effort was put into the modeling of the cars and tracks, and then the game aspects (the events) were bolted on top at the last point before the game was shipped.

I hope there's going to be some updates to add more events, and also leaderboards from GT5P - no idea why that was left out. I'd rather have online leaderboards that the bizarre twitter-like status/community thing in the game that I bet I'm never going to use.

I don't think that create some new events would take so much time to PD guys... The tracks are here, the cars are here... If they don't have ideas for new events, just copy and port on GT5 the events on GT4, if they add all the events that were in GT4 with an incoming DLC, the game would be a lot better than now... I agree with you when you say that in this 5 years they ignored completely the offline gameplay of GT Life... But there's DLCs, so, I hope they adds some more events soon :)

Agree 100%, the severe lack of events and the leveling system are by far the biggest let downs for me.

I think PD lost the big picture and focused too much on frivolous endeavors, the stupid facebook thing mentioned comes to mind, head tracking, 3d etc. It's undeniable, no rally events and we have all these rally cars in game, wtf was PD thinking?

GT3, was like GT1 and now Gt5 is like those 2

GT4 was like GT2 and GT6 will be like those 2. Even numbered games are the content heavy Gran Turismo's...

Unfortunately I have to agree. I'm basically almost done with the game. Couple month long game at the most, and then nothing left to do but online.

The lack of rally is extremely disappointing as well. The NASCAR is a joke, as is the Super GT. Super GT isn't even limited to Super GT cars, wtf?

I completely agree. The end game is sort of a mess in my opinion, it just turns into a horrible grind. Kaz did say that GT5 is like a growing creature though so I hope they will add new events every once in a while. I mean how hard could it be to make new events?

A lot of tracks and weather variations are rarely used in events and there is a ton of cars that only have any use in practice mode.

Wut? GT5 is nothing like GT3, GT3 had more and better events than GT5, the prizes were well thought out as were most of the events, the general layout of GT3 was much better and enjoyable to navigate through and was just all around executed much better. Your numerology is fail.

As much of a GT5 lover/defender I am, i have to agree that this is my main concern with GT5. Slightly disappointing.

This. GT3 had plenty of events, prize exclusive cars and more enduros. But it still lacked in cars though.

they are missing alot of events that i enjoyed playing. like the 4wd only events and the manufacturer races. i hope they put alot more races in the game with an update.

Man, I'm in the same boat as the OP. I'm level 22 now, and now the grind is really getting me down. All the cars I need to finish of all the A-spec races are ridiculously expensive. And I don't want to do the same events over and over again.

As for B-spec, its just one big joke. Your driver sucks balls, the only way he will over take is on the straights and if he has a faster car. And when I say faster, I mean atleast a 100 HP advantage. So frustrating that even for the beginner races, you need to heavily modify your cars if Bob is gonna win.

I try not to hate on b-spec because I know there's a good amount of people who dig it, but I agree, b-spec blows, if I want to watch some random dude drive I'll watch it on TV/interdoodle. Don't get me wrong, the eye candy in GT5 is great I just find the whole bob experience frustrating when I care and mind numbing when I don't, nothing about it is compelling or even interesting in the slightest honestly. Yay! Same four options over and over again, two of which are used, it's pants on head retarded.

I have the bumper cam on when I do b-spec. The cinematic cam annoys me and I like to know wtf Bob is doing, which is usually just being an idiot. Gear hunting, braking early as ****.

Finally a thread I can related to. I am highly pissed with the lack of races/track count. In comparison to GT4, GT5 went backwards. I agree that it has great potential. I can look over the graphical flaws, features and cars. What I appreciated in GT was the number of tracks. Forget the variations and for that matter weather and night too. Give me more tracks. To be honestly I only played GT5 for 4 days straight after getting my copy at midnight on release day. I hit 42% in less that a week. Once I realized on the % completion that no other tracks would be unlocked, I pretty much stopped playing the game pre-maturely. I didn't even expect to take the disk out of my unit until Spring of next year. I fear for GT6. I am sure alot of people are disappointed with this release. I am desperate for tracks. I am even thinking about getting f1 2010 to hold me.

i can't describe how dissapointed i am. are some of you feeling the same way? or am i missing something?

nope i feel the same: at the very least why not put an FF, FR, MR, 4WD, turbo, n/a, etc etc etc race in every difficulty level as a start. same with country specific races. same with loads of things.

Agree with the OP.
I actually believe this is the 1st GT that I WON'T complete. The length of time it took me to grind my way to "level 22" (omg), coupled with the fact each successive level gets further away leads me to believe I simply won't be arsed in the long run.

Drastic changes need to be made. I say that almost as if KY will personally read it and get on the ball.

The problem with b-spec, is that you can't fast forward it, and you can't even trust/leave your driver alone to get on with it. You literally have to sit and watch, and tell him what to do, otherwise he will lose. So it's not like you can complete b-spec races while doing other things nearby, such as reading or writing, you still have to be concentrating on the game! It's for this reason that i've given up on b-spec. I'll forever be at level 4.

There wasn't even a 4WD event, I'm thinking DLC here...

I wonder if PD thought the number of events could be less because b-spec is its own mode? I would have preferred twice the a-spec events and for b-spec to be available where it was in GT4.

The kick in the teeth is that b-spec is exactly the same as a-spec. But worse, because your driver is rubbish in all events.

The biggest problem I have with B-spec is for some reason PD made the events longer than they were in A-spec. 10 laps at Tsukuba in a MX-5 when your not the one one even driving is painful.

Hmmm...even though there is a lack of events in the game, the overall structure has been very nicely done. Right now I'm level 22, finished all my licenses, kart special, top gear, jeff gordon, and all the series except Extreme in gold. I have AMG school, GT Rally, Grand Tour, Loeb Rally and extreme events to gold, and am slowly working my way through the special events while checking for the Formula GT in used dealership. I have not bought a car except the required ones for racing and I have 2.5 million in credits. When I need help getting a car, I ask fellow GTP'ers on the chat room to borrow a car. I still have not grinded one single race yet and I can see myself getting to level 25 without repeating events once I get a gold in them.

Yes there is a lack of events, but that's if you're settling on silver or bronze on the special events and licenses and are mainly focusing on A-Spec. If you seriously don't feel like grinding, maybe go and get all your golds on the special events and don't go on a spending spree without careful planning.

Just ask yourself, what are you trying to accomplish in the game? 100% and the ending credits? After that sell the game? This may not be the game for you then. I got 60% in GT2 80% in GT3 60% in GT4. Im Currently at 60% in GT5 and only lvl 20....... I'm in it for the GT experience my % means nothing to me but this is the fastest I've ever gotten to 60% in any GT game. The last 40% are races I'm not even looking forward too.....

Do you just want to get 100% faster to be satisfied?

Very well said, to all of you guys. I completely agree and wish there were a lot more events and even more options for arcade mode too. I mean, come on, after 6 years in development, this game should've had a way to make a continuous, never-ending season like in Forza 3.
