lack of events

This is why i dislike the level system.

In the old GTs you had to pass your license test, then do the amature league in your junk car scrape some crs up to upgrade and tune it, do all the events to get better cars to throw some upgrades on so you could could finish the league then do the next test etc.

So we had more events to do so we could have the cash to buy/upgrade cars until the s class events you really did not see a ton of cash coming in to buy the good stuff.

Now with the level system and special events you can do license tests to get your level up a few special events to make a ton of cash in a hurry, plus more level ups and buy a totally over powered car to do the events.

So we got fewer events overall since we did not have to work our way up. But when you get to be high level the level system starts to drag you down. And some races you need crazy cars just to complete them.

Plus the one off races are just that one off races, with maybe one or two tracks that you need a car for and some cars you cannot even buy until they show up in the used lot, i mean i still got the truck challenge since i never ever seen one in the used car lot. Where the old game the ones off almost always had more in the upper ranks where you had to get better with the car and upgrade it to compete.

Now they have said they probably will make more events for an update in the future, and that is great and all but they should have had more events to begin with, i mean how hard is it to make a few extra race series? And have more usefulness for the "one off" race vehicles.

While the new level system lets us get into the car we would like to drive sooner the old license based system had better progression and Really made you improve your driving skills more naturally than the current system with its rather awkward difficulty curve.

I really miss the dealer events from GT4, I used to do them only pretty much along with the Euro events. Now I'm forced to do mundane events which have a terrible AI and no championship with 10 events.

Making B-Spec a seperate mode does not mean that we are happy with less events. And why should there be extra laps for a terrible AI to win there, if you know the AI is terrible, fix it, make B-Spec actually fun or remove B-Spec.

I do agree skywolf, it seems like the events took no more than a few hours to think of. Most are copy pastes from GT3/4. EACH event should have multiple sub events and a championship for each event. Example:

Classic Muscle Cars

Dodge VS Chevy 3 races 3 laps each
Camaro Cup 1 race 5 laps
Challenger Cup 1 race 5 laps
Mustang Cup 1 race 5 lap
Muscle car Endurance Race 1 race 60min race 2 mandatory pits
Muscle car Championship 10 races 3 laps each

Not just one 3 lap race on Monza?

I agree with the OP.
So many cars - so little to do with them... :grumpy:

I agree that the lack of events is the biggest fault in this game. There's so many cars, so many tracks, the leveling system demands tons of play time, yet all you can do to level is repeat the same few mundane events which give you decent experience.

B-Spec is boring as hell if you're sitting there watching your driver, but I'm glad it's in this game because it's the only way I'm hitting level 30. There's no way I'm going to sit there and do the Indy endurance race over and over again just to reach the X-1 challenge. With B-Spec I just let my drivers grind endurance races while I'm away from my TV, it may not be as quick as A-Spec but it's a hell of a lot less tedious.

Yea i would have like to see full on race cups of 3 to 5 races for a real championship.

And seen events in amature pro etc leagues for each type of car/class.

Also what would have helped was forcing tire restrictions in us players rather than unrestricted, kind of silly our horrible b spec guys get limited to awful tires but i can throw full on racing softs on any car any time and do an event, and it would have made using op cars very difficult if you had to use comfort tires on a amature league race, i tried driving my ferrari on econ tires lol it is not pleasant.

agreed....try driving a 800hp ferrari on econo tires with ALL the assists off.....

or am i missing something?

Those are the exact words I used to describe the lack of events in another post. It really doesn't make sense. 1,000 events would have taken only a few megs of data.

Why are we faced with doing the same few events over and over and over and............

The course maker is an interesting distraction, but any time you spend making courses and driving on them is "wasted" as there is no money or experience awarded.

Absolutely!
This is what I saw the only real problem to me from the first look through.

I miss the special surface events, and manufacturers events.
Without the 100's of manufacture events we now have no reason to buy more than a few cars and the special surface had some awesome tracks.

Cmon, events take like 5 minute each to setup, how can they only make so few:indiff:

Is it just me, or are the events either ridiculously difficult or ridiculously easy. Ex, you unlock the Veyron after the GT championship, and you can use it in like 4 events in the expert series with ease. And then you have events like the historic race, which is fairly difficult if you don't have one of those super expensive race cars.

I really hope they bring back the rotating online events from prologue. Its just bizzare why so many prologue features were left out. Though I remember from somewhere that Kaz said they would be adding more events, or that it was easily possible.

You're right. There's Extreme events that are a breeze (Gold at first try) and there's lower level ones I still haven't finished (Historic, All Stars)

It makes no sense at all.

In terms of the grind: I'm not going to grind. It's a waste of my time. I'll keep going trying to gold all licenses and special events etc. but once I have everything all I'll do is hope for new DLC tracks/events etc.

Hate to say it but Forza kept me busy for months, with GT5 I feel the end is already at the horizon. I really do hope PD will do something about it because the driving experience itself is WAY better in this game.

Ya, I agree, in a way, GT5 has the least replayability out of all the GTs. Its only been 2 weeks, and already starting to get bored, and its not even like I have played the game religiously in that time, I have only played probably 3-4 days a week.

Well i will be hitting the practice mode a lot for time attacks, especially on the ring. Only bad part is the fact that repairs will kill you if you are not grinding cr to afford engine and chassis rebuilds. So that means grinding like the wind etc anyway.

And yea the difficulty curve is all over the map for some stuff, nevermind that you win the 70 toyota race car for one of the level 23 events, which is way odd, but makes that historic race doable, except for my b spec guy yet that struggles on "monaco", well that ai generally struggles there and blows several corners pretty regularly and results in pile up that my guy usually ends up the worst out of even when he did not start it.

What ruins the few events that we do get for me is that when there is a "classic" event PD for some crazy reason just TOTALLY RUINS the events by putting those Chaparral cars, Toytoa 7 and NEO-DOME or whatever that Japanese car is called in there that blow the everyday "classic" cars out of the water taking sooooo much fun out of the race. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy those cars being in the game but my gosh separate them out into their own races. I want a true classic race not infested with these cars for once. :grumpy:

Hopefully they release more events with more specific entry requirements & power restrictions!

Same here actually, I've got the game for only 1 week now, level 21 now in A-spec and on the moment of writing I just let Bob do his pathetic style of driving (just can't watch it). Cleared alot of events already.

I'm missing the dealership events, it's made so it's easy to achieve victory and (until now? :nervous:) there isn't a real good variation in courses. I've been racing on Grand Valley way to much, race the same events due to the fact you need to in order to play next level events.

I miss GT3 style Gran Turismo actually. Don't get me wrong, I do like the game in terms of physics, alot of cars, etc, but it looks and sounds like the game's durability is way lower than I expected.

Try using the online. It's pretty fun atleast to me it is

I know, that's also a good thing about GT5 (although my download speed is 1mbps xD), but I want to rank up Bob and get the Mazda Furai to get a shot at the GT All Stars cup since even my fully tuned Enzo can't match those race machines, and..well...my internet is incredibly f-in slow..

This is good as a option, but it does not replace what GT's have been known for till now. A kickass event filled driving puzzle that you only hoped to make a dent in each day.

What happened to GT? I haven't played it today and fired up GT4 instead. :nervous:

i get the feeling they thought most would spend their time in online races so they didn't invest the effort to put more races in.

Exactly, that's why I let my B-spec fool drive and win while I'm watching this site, switching once in a while to check whether he finally crossed the line to press the buttons to next event and start another race to win cars and money for me.

WE NEED MORE EVENTS!! I won't be playing the same event over and over anymore to eventually get a little bit of money, that's what work is for...

While that could be, in a way even that doesn't hold water because the online is not even close to done. It makes no sense for PD to think they can coast on this beta of a online system.

I'm in the same boat, and I've raced EVERY event at least twice and I'm at level 23... seriously? Also, I know it's a racing simulator, but 24 hour races... really? Maybe for the die hards, but I would have to leave my PS3 on for a week.

i agree and actually haven't spent 1 sec online, i enjoy the single player. Well i use to enjoy the single player in past GT's.

For me, championships aside (although I'd be happy to see them implemented in as an additional option), I would just like to see a bunch of events that have races in all the main courses (nordschleiffe, le mans, fuji, suzuka, grand valley, trial mountain, monza, nurburgring... etc.) for a variety of different race car classes ( Group C/ LMP, JGTC, DTM, American GT, Formula 1).

The races wouldnt need to be worth a ludicrous amount of money (maybe around $70-$100k), and last around 15 minutes (7-10 laps on an average track). That would really remove the grind in my opinion because I'd have the option to race whatever class of car I liked, on whatever track I liked.

Not everyone wants to play online nor do they have internet period. I have internet but I am not an online racer. If GT4 had a huge offline portion, why can't GT5. Why go backwards. Cater to everyone if you want sales.

1000 cars and only 45 events (some with only one race :yuck:) , and not even any manufacturer races. It'll never make sense to me.

I too miss the events. It used to be, I could select the CAR I want to drive, and go find an event(s) to fit it.

Now we have 1,000 cars, and I only use a few since only a few are actually viable on the different events.

Plus I miss getting a car for winning a race, whats the point of having 1,000 cars in the game if I never get to own or drive 1/3 of them?

Endurance races give **** for credits, and most of the cars that are winnable in the limited racing events available aren't all that good.

Yeah, thats my complaint too, couldn't the old events just have been ported to GT5?

I terribly miss the manufactures race myself.

I agree totally that there is a disappointing amount of events.

GT4 took me a good year or so to 100% (actually, I'm not sure I even managed that....), but GT5 will be done very early in the new year.

Another vote from me for more events please!
