The start-up engine revving noise when you "get in" the Lancer Rally Car is probably the longest one of them all. It's pretty sweet. I recommend trying this car out. What's interesting is the Audi Quattro '82 is tied with it.

My favorite of this bunch is the Renault. It weighs 1035 kg with 169 hp and 150 ft-lbs. It's not quite as good as the EP Civic Type R, but it does tie with the VW Golf V GTI.

It's a little strange that the Lupo GTI Cup Car is faster than the regular Lupo Cup Car, though only by about 1 second. It has 10 more hp, but it weighs 170 kg more...I suppose the suspension is just that much better.

The Prelude S Spec weighs 40 kg less than the Type S, has the same 214 hp, but doesn't have the ATTS torque distribution system that the Type S has. Apparently, it doesn't need it, because it's still faster.

These two cars are separated by about 2 seconds at Laguna Seca. Any car that can do under 1:50 is pretty phenomenal in my opinion. The Legacy '03 is as quick as the C4 Corvette!

The Blitzen is a great car, much better than the RSK, but it just isn't fast enough to break the 1:50 threshold. The '03 Legacy 2.0GT is an extremely desirable car in my eyes. I'd even consider it over an STi because of its massive sleeper potential. The 6-cylinder Legacy is a drag. It's just terrible. Don't even bother.

That Gazoo time doesn't surprise me one bit. For some reason, the BRZs (and FRS & 86) are some of my favorite cars in the game. So, it just made sense to get the Gazoo Racing Toyota 86 to add to my stable. I was shocked at it's relative poor performance. I noticed that @Ridox2JZGTE has just posted a tune for the car and I look forward to trying it tonight.

You sure about that? When you purchase the car from the dealership it is delivered to your garage with a set of Sports Hard tires. I seriously doubt they tuned the car for RH tires but then slapped SH tires on instead. I do, however, agree that a car that purports to be an actual race car should be setup for and equipped with RH tires. PD didn't do this, sadly...
 
If one of you wants to compare them on RH tires at your favorite track, by all means do it. I'd be interested in the findings.

Those last two are the most interesting. The 1.6L Benz has the advantage of 28 hp and 18 ft-lbs over the Audi, but is also 195 kg (430 lbs!) heavier and has a bad case of understeer. The Audi handles corners like a 4WD would, with no drama from the tires, and so the car feels faster despite being about a whole second slower.

Max speed on the straightaway was 85 mph in the Merc and 83 mph in the Audi.

Nice work on all the lap times 👍

The Gazoo can be pushed really hard on CH tyres and is a great drive on them any other tyre and I found it killed the characteristics of the car, i'm surprised it runs slower than the normal one so I might have a look tonight if I get chance.

Im correct in thinking you run in free run straight from the garage ?
 
Don't quote me but I think the Gazoo has different rear axle gears and it definitely has the annoying sounding dog-clutch transmission. These gearing differences could be the reason behind the separation in lap times.

The gearing in BRZ seems to suit the track better than the Gazoo as you can take a few corners in higher revs getting a better turn in, also the top speed of the BRZ is 5 kph more, but my times were a bit closer between the two than @SuzukaStar been only .7.

I then tried dropping to 3rd in a few places instead of 4th in the gazoo and found a good chunk of time and I could not match it with the BRZ. The downforce is a big help around here but on a track with longer straights the BRZ should be quicker.

Just my thoughts.

Not sure why the Odyssey has 4 more PP than the Element. Both have the same exact horsepower and torque, and the Element weighs 140 kg lighter. It may sound weird, but I prefer the Odyssey.

If someone can manage a 2:03 in this car I will stop testing forever.

I wouldn't stop testing forever , even if someone could..

I could not figure out the grip reduction setting from SuzukaStar's videos , so I tested with both.
Used sixaxis , grip low for 10 laps , then real for 10 laps.
And after that switched to wheel , 5 laps with low and then 5 with real.

2:03.664 (grip reduction: Low , wheel)
2:03.784 (grip reduction: Real , wheel)
2:03.787 (grip reduction: Low , sixaxis)
2:03.859 (grip reduction: Real , sixaxis)

I felt that grip reduction Real made this car (Honda Odyssey '03) corner better.



And if you did open this @SuzukaStar , I can tell you were loosing time by shifting up too early & staying on higher gear where the lower gear could have been used. (especially in the last sector)
 
Ahhhhh nooooo! 2:03 with a sixaxis and grip low?! Impossibru! I tried using lower gears but found that shifting up took longer than just accelerating from the higher gear. I might have to try this again. I could have sworn it couldn't get any faster than 2:04 ugh. I'm assuming your Odyssey was taken to Test Drive in the garage straight from the dealership?
 
There is another perfect example of absolutely wasted developmental time, in my opinion. If lap times are really only 0.1s to 0.2s slower when Track Grip is set to REAL, why the heck even bother having two options, LOW and REAL? Just make the entire game set to REAL and be done with it. Geez...

The 'Grip Reduction' setting should only affect non-tarmac and wet tarmac grip levels based on the description given by the game. Dry tarmac grip levels would stay pretty much the same on both settings, and MadMax's lap times show that this is indeed the case.

That's why I try to keep all 4 wheels on track :p

I'd really like an option to have Traction Control automatically set to 0 for every car, and grip set to real. It's annoying having to turn it off for every new car I test.

Why would PD assume I need Traction set to 5? What the heck is that about?

It's amazing just how similar the original Mazda MX-5 is to the Lotus Elan. Both have 1.6L engines with barely 100 hp, both weigh less than a ton, both have retractable headlamps, and both are massive fun to launch into a corner. Needless to say, I can't wait for the all-new 2016 MX-5. I'm impressed that the 53 year old Elan managed a lap time under 2 minutes, only 2 seconds behind the Eunos Roadster '89.

As for the Ford, it sounds great and looks great. Handles well enough, but has some unwanted oversteer on corner entry. Once some throttle is applied, it's fine. @MadMax can probably do high 1:46 with a wheel.

The Beetle has a naturally aspirated 2.8L engine and I'm not sure where it's from.

I did the time trial/s in Arcade mode , non oil chaged car 100% stock. 2 wheels on track surface like we do in Weekly Race Series. (got replays saved too)

In the end, when tested both stock in Laguna Seca on RH, difference is the same SuzukaStar found on CH. A whole second. 1m40s for BRZ, 1m41s for Gazoo. Most possible, a gear ratio and drag combination give this result.
 
I belong to a Miata forum and there was a topic arguing about the BRZ vs. Miata. This prompted me to put both cars on Comfort MEDIUM tires, Traction off, ABS-1, and Grip Real. These are my findings:

1:48.994 - Subaru BRZ '12
1:50.399 - Mazda Roadster (NC) '07

I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally broke into the 1:48 with the Subaru.

With another 10 laps or so, I could probably get lucky enough with the Mazda to see 1:49

PD needs to hurry up and digitize the 2016 Miata...

The CL 600 is much too heavy to compete with even the SL 500. I would hope the real-life car has some features to make it worth purchasing over the droptop SL...
