To put it in perspective, the last GT game that was clearly completed was GT4

I don't remember online racing in GT4?...

Listen, before spouting off you might want to know a little about the game series you are talking about. GT4 was very clearly released unfinished. It was meant to have a full online mode among other things, but only a LAN mode made it and they even had to patch that between the PAL and NTSC releases as the LAN mode was so unfinished that it would lag heavily with more than 4 players.

You can also be quite sure that there were many features meant to be in the first three games also that never made it. Its just that back in those days information on a games development was not so readily spread via the internet. If PD didn't talk about GT6 before released you would consider that 'complete' also.
