I would get a Italia over the LFA. :)

Have you driven either?

Numbers are one thing. Experience behind the wheel another.

Not saying the Italia isn't good but to say without question you'd choose it over the LF-A unless perhaps you've actually driven both is kinda silly.

I think a lot of people can't get over the "Lexus" thing which is really quite sad. And then there's the "numbers" thing people put so much stock into when in reality doesn't mean much unless maybe you race your daily driver for a living.

It's a lot like choosing a 911 over a Cayman S. Yes the 911 is quicker because Porsche gives it a bigger engine but the Cayman is the more enjoyable car to drive. (mid engine vs. Full diaper)

Regardless most would still take the 911 just because it's a 911. Pretty stupid but just goes to show where many peoples periorities are.

I've driven neither, but I like the Italia's looks way more. Not to mention its a Ferrari, compared to a Lexus. Ya it matters, trust me. Also in the game, the Italia is a blast to drive, and personally I like the sound better.

I thought it was the other way around? The Cayman is faster everywhere except for the straights, but the 911 is more fun to drive?

I agree the LFA is a fast car and should be quite a fun car to drive but I don't think that it means it will instantly be entered into my "best cars" category.

The below paragraph is all IMHO

What defines a best car is different for everybody and IMHO the Lexus is not a beautiful nor exciting car. Everything feels very digitalized and cold about the car, there's this lack of something. Something that can't really be put into words. The GTR also feels the same way to me, there's just something about it that I can't really like the car. Both of these cars are really fast and if I can afford them in real life, I would buy them in a split second.

While I'm on the idea of this "something", the FD2 civic type R really gives me the feeling of this "something". Quite honestly there's nothing about this car that is superior to the GTR or the LFA (maybe the fuel economy  ), but the feeling it gives me while driving it (in game) is what I am looking for.

Basically what kind of car clicks with you may be different from others and I think we all have a different interpretation of what this "something" is to themselves.

The LFA is basically a marketing piece for Lexus, it says look what we can do... It's not like Ferrari who make a business off their ridiculous cars, Lexus will never make a profit based on the R&D $$$ that went into it. Either way it's pretty cool, just tech wise with the full carbon chassis, but yeah if you break it down to simple performance specs and speed it's price tag seems way too high for what you get.

You're right about the Cayman being a better performer but it's also funnier to drive because the weight distribution isn't screwed via having the engine all the way behind the rear axle / full diaper.

About the LF-A - Kind of hard to judge how a car "looks" and "feels" when driven in real life without ever seeing or driving the car except in a video game.

You'll never know how good a car is unless you actually drive it. But buy most accounts (TG doesn't count, only creditable sources) the LF-A is every bit as good and them some as any comparable Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, etc.

The people that choose based on a badge are what they call badge snobs. They can stick a Ferrari badge on just about anything and people will be lined up to buy
it. That says a lot about a persons character.

Just as some will still choose to pay 17k more for a 911 over a Cayman S. All you get for that extra 17k is slightly quicker straight line acceleration, a tiny back seat, and worse driving dynamics. But it's a 911!!! and that's all that matters for badge whores.

Personally I'm more concerned with getting what "I" really want vs. trying to impress everyone else with my 911 or what have you.

I've noticed that too, even down the Mulsanne straight at Le Sarthe I never even hit 6th sometimes. I haven't looked at the gearing of it in the game, but here's the original for reference ;)

Gear: Ratio
1: 3.231
2: 2.188
3: 1.609
4: 1.233
5: 0.970
6: 0.795
Reverse: 3.587
Final Drive: 3.417

I have checked the stock gear ratio after installed a custom gearbox, it's as same as the original spec

The stock LFA in NFSS2 is similar to GT5 one, it's so difficult to reach 6th gear

CarreraGT
Put some Sports Soft tyres on it and it is amazing. It handles beautifully and sounds incredible! One of my favourite cars around the Nordschleife

^this.. it is a hoot on sport softs.. i have 6 so i would know.. i find LFAs however to be more useful after uve built up a collection and youre just buying for the hell of it, because several cheaper cars will take its doors off any time, place or day of the week.. also do not give it to your B spec bobs every time i give one of mine an LFA it always comes back wadded up.. the last one even had a hole in the bumper (well technically not the bumper but the bumper sheetmetal was stretched out

Absolutely love the LFA. I've upgraded only the drivetrain and suspension on mine and it's without a doubt my favourite car. I gave this one the army treatment!

Whats missing?? -Torque!!! This car feels gutless under 6000rpm and the long gearing does not help. On Sports Softs you can do a full throttle launch and there will only be and hint of wheelspin which is great for quick getaways and slow bends but not when you want to have some fun online without having to stick comfort tires on!! The flashing Rev-Counter also annoys be but on the plus side I quite like the looks; it has an amazing sound and pretty quick above 7000rpm. It also handles tidily if without drama. To sum the LFA up its a bit like a RWD GTR: Fast, handles well but not as fun as it could be.

since when Toyota set the 599xx as a target car? the LFA is a 11 year car...yeup the LFA concept it's pretty old, an LFA is near to a standard 599, 599xx is a full race car, the LFA is more like a high end luxury sports car

about the torque thing...TRUE!

True that, finnracer.

One question, is this car meant to be a grand tourer? I suffered the same torque problems. And yes, it snaps like a 599.

There is a video out there on youtube, where race driver who tests the LFA says, "you couldn't drive a Ferrari revving it to race speeds on a race track like we do here everyday and only need to change the oil and tires like the LFA"

If I had that kind of money I'd own a ferrari for the history and probably just to look at, a GTR to play with and possibly crash since it's so gawd damn cheap and an LFA to drive on the weekends for a long road trip

Looked the power curve again in GT5, it looks promising though. No wonder why there's a feeling of a lack of torque.

I decided to buy the LFA just for the hell of it. Man that car stinks. I didn't do any upgraded. What's so hot about that car? I'm sure if I threw some Sports Soft or Racing tires on it I would like it better but if it comes with Sports Hard then I'd like to see what it does in stock form. Nothing to write home about.

Which is very curious because the LFA was hot on the heels of the Porches for the lead at 24h of Nurb last summer in the real world. Gives you some pause when thinking about how accurate GT5 really is.

I've fully tuned mine, and it's one of my favorite hypercars to drive around. Balanced, sounds like falling angel which is on fire and handles curves like strip teaser handles men.

Even dugged moar on the LF-A.

I noticed something at stock: there may be 6th gear, but it can't hold more speed anymore there. This car reaches top speed of 340 km/h at 5th gear (when shifting at 9k rpm). Tested with Sports softs, by the way.

I love the LF-A. It's a beautiful car, and it sounds amazing. It's also very enjoyable to drive. I would take the LF-A in a heartbeat over:

Ferrari 458 Italia : One of the ugliest cars ever

Ferrari 599 : It's not particularly a looker either

Nissan GT-R : Booooooring!

Mclaren MP4-12C : I don't like the way it drives

Lamborghini Gallardo : Great to drive, but everybody else on GT5 has one.

Ford GT : It's styling doesn't grab me much

Dodge Viper : This car is just too extreme, plus it's not good looking

Go Lexus! :dopey:

Someone needs to get their eyes checked.

Apparently the LFA is annoyingly limited in its tuning setup. Not that I care, the number of paint chips is very good, it doesn't look half bad and it sounds brilliant. I'm using one in my fanfic later :) but why am I telling you that?

Actually, it's the other way around.

An ordinary driver would most likely be faster round a track in a Caymen as a 911 is much more challenging to get the best out of... but the 911 is a far more rewarding car to drive the other 99% of the time.

Nothing else 'feels' like a 911... well, maybe a very highly tuned Beetle ;)

One of the ulgiest Ferraris (on par with the FF).

Lexus needed to make a custom carbon fiber loom just to construct the damn thing. The engine has an extremely high power to weight/size ratio. Its Lexus showing the world what it can do. Its a car out of passion. Its not meant to break record, its meant to win hearts. And as a "marketing tool" I can think of none better.

^ that
limited to 500cars and lexus isnt making a cent by each one they sell.
In reality is one of the best cars ever made.

I for one love the car, and the engineering behind it. On the game its nice, I wish they would have added a turbo to it but eh, its a game. I'd love to take a listen to a turbo LFA in real life tho :)

As far as playing with it on the game, fully modded its a fun car to drive i think. Tuned right it makes it around corners quickly, just likes to kick out a bit, but it does like most of the cars i have on the game. Plus it'll hand some cars its butt, dragging online but its only so fast. I'll never have the 400k to spend on the car and even if i did, I don't think i'd buy it. Not to say that I don't love the car and think its amazing coming from Toyota/Japan. I'd just use the money elsewhere.

WHEN I BOUGHT THE GAME
i got exited for it ( after the gtr ) when i tuned it ... what can i say its rubbish and stupid and everything
it doesnt handle either the accelration is not soo good

sorry for my bad english
