I can never seem to gold this license test (The one with the FR cone slalom), and it's quite annoying me.

Is there any tips that can help me get a gold easier? Thanks much.

FT-86 cone slalom?

Do larger turning angles than you did with the one with the Mini. You need to slide it somewhat to get it to do what you want. The FT-86 is actually pretty well balanced, so you don't really have to worry about the back end truly coming out unless you really screw up. You have a wheel or a DS3?

Best I can tell you is to corner into the cones and not around the, so that your car won't throw itself off balance, when you need to correct or slow down.

Remember, corner into the cons and NOT around them. Try them like any other corner. Take it sharp!

Search the forums for the answer containing:

when you reach the 3rd or 4th cone set, Upshift 2 gears high, to maintain traction and top speed, then downshift 1, hold throttle, then squeeze out the end. Mild assist on, manual shifting, all other aids off. Start from starting line, into cone 1 purposely wide, your initial turn in angles will affect all the rest, like a long snake. I was surprised at learning this technique, I can gold it everytime now, that is if I don't run over the cone near the end :)

ABS 4
Brake balace: 0/4
MT
Controller sensitivity: 7
Start wide and then go through the cones steering as little as possible.

Hope this helped.

Full throttle, turn left, right, left, ... and pass the finish line. :sly:

I've redone all licences 3 weeks ago on my other account & the iB-3 licence is now with the steering sensitivity setting a cake run. My tip's are:

- lower the speed to around 120kmh & and after you passed the 3rd last pylone, full throttle
- use the throttle more to corner around the pylones instead of the steering
- active steering to low (or strong?), everything else off
- steering sensitivity to -2

Goldished it now with the 3rd try, and with a DS3. It's really easy now. 👍

The technique I used involved skipping 3rd gear and going straight to 4th, this kept my acceleration to a slow enough level so that I could make it through the cones, but quick enough to pass the test with a gold.

I've golded this a few times now using the "never let off the gas, ride the brakes slightly" technique.

Did what this guy said, helps a ton 👍

You can achieve gold without ever touching the brakes. Full throttle to start then back off to about 80% throttle and accelerate slowly going a little faster after each turn. The cones are spaced so you can continuously accelerate. You can open the throttle completely a few cones before the end.

Your wheel should be straight by the time you pass each cone. In otherwords, all your turning is done before you reach the cone. Most of your turning is actually done via slight whiplash of the tail. A little steering input and the back end will rotate for you. Aim wide as you approach the cone as if to "late apex".

Last half of the course look through the track to the line, not just the next cone or two. Focusing on an object ( cone ) distracts you.

I had a ton of problems with this very event. I also use the DS3. Took more than an hour to get this one, which is by far the most I spent on any license event. I was soooo relived to finally get past this one.

Another tip: don't mash the gas pedal until RIGHT BEFORE the start. you don't want to be sitting on the rev limiter when it starts. You want the car to take off at about 5000rpms, it'll take off with the least amount of wheelspin and the most amount of acceleration.

Yeah, I tried avoiding to mash the accelerator. I kept the needle right above the red line, which helped.

I love how I was the first one to try to give you advice, and you ended up beating my time by 7 tenths of a second.
