A lot of people have given up on GT5 and a lot of people love it no matter how flawed it is.
This is just a poll to see where people stand with the current GT5 and the GT5 coming after the update.

I myself am ready to give up on it and go back to some PC sim racing.

Poll is up now...exercise your right to vote

Topic should read "Life with GT5 IF the next Update hits "

And, where's the poll, what's the question? Huh? What..?!

Kaz has until Shift Unleashed drops... Pre-ordered mine today.

I can not predict how a game will be after an update we haven't had yet.
But so far I love It, Flaws or not.

Got to that point (of giving up) at around level 29. Which was about day 6 of owning the game. Have stuck it out the past couple of months and made it to 34, A-Spec (40 B-Spec, but literally do that in my sleep). Aside from the 'shiny', 'new' seasonals every not so often, and a decent online race 20% of the time, I dont really care for GT5 much now. Once I get my hands on some of the next to come titles, might even try F1 2010, I dont think ill so much as look at GT5 sitting on the shelf.
I still hold a little hope for any future updates though, but even that is decreasing with each passing day.

I'm not holding much hope on next update. I could start playing GT5 again if it proves worthy of the download time, basing on forum feedback. However I essentially stopped playing GT5 one month and half ago, and my PS3 has been collecting dust since.

I will buy Shift 2 once it's released and probably go between that and GT5. If Forza 4 is as good as I think it will be, I would imagine I won't be playing GT5 after the release of that particular title. That is, unless the update (if any) is absolutely HUGE and totally changes GT5.

What's wrong with GT5?

I quit "playing" GT5 when I got to level 32, and didn't want to grind anymore to get to the rest of the endurance races.

I took up trading, and collecting the museum cards, and that was cool, right up until I discovered that doing so will kill my game. So now I don't even bother turning it on anymore.

Hopefully, if the next update fixes this game save bug, I'll be able to get back into it, but if not, I don't really see the point in playing the game, just to have it die eventually.

I'm still playing, but the coming update will determine if I'll continue or not, only thing I'm expecting from the update is the ability to save at endurance races and possibly sharing duties with Bob

I played GT3 up until the day GT4 was released.
I played GT4 up until the day GT5 was released.
I'll be playing GT5 up until the day GT6 comes out.

I know the in thing it to knock GT5 and say it's a complete mess. I honestly don't know what it is that I'm doing wrong when I play it but I'm having an absolute blast with it. ;)

I spent pretty much the entire of last night throwing an F2007 around the new special events. Even without updates GT5 is giving me countless hours of fun. If PD want to keep releasing new features then great. But even if they dont GT5 as it is now is more than enough to keep me happy until GT6 comes out.

I have already pretty much gone back to GTR2 and iRacing. Unless GT5 gets a big improvement I dont see myself playing it very much anymore.

My sig says it all. Hopefully, this next update will interest me in GT5 again. I'll also be getting Shift 2 and Forza 4 later in the year.

I dropped the idea of a complete turnaround for GT5 recently... but I really hope that PD surprises me... and all of us...

It's my go to game, not as much as GT4 is but I don't know if that's entirely down to my being a fair bit older and less interested in games or because it's not as big a step forward as I'd hoped for.

I'm probably not gonna be playing it until after the next patch so I'll see how it fairs.

I still play GT5, plus i'm hoping the next update will resolve the game killing bug problem. I want to see how the likely inclusion of Performance Points will affect the game as well.

I still play, although not nearly as much as I would have expected. Pretty much this next update has to include full leaderboard support otherwise I'll be out of patience and will begrudgingly make the move to iRacing as it seems that's going to be the last bastion of hope for real sim racers.

Stopped playing GT5, gave up on PD. It's clear from what KY is saying, he doesn't seem interested in making a decent racing game, just Pokemon with cars.

I played GT1-3 to 100%. I still play GT4 (along with Toca 3 and FM1) from time to time...GT5 is probably my last PD product.

Waiting on Shift 2 (which is shaping up to having a killer track list, among other exciting things)...Also waiting for more FM4 info.

funny how people complain about the game...but still play it XD

Ill keep playing like I am now from time to time, but Im not expect much from this update like some are hoping. I doubt it will change much.

I think the problem is people think of it as a game to be played. It is made by a car enthusiast for car enthusiasts. As a "game", it kinda sucks. Luckily, I am a car enthusiast and not a gamer so I use GT5 all the time and will until GT6 comes out.

I'm a car enthusiast (I own a MX-5 and a 911...and will be shopping for a 90s MR2 or maybe a Z3 Coupe in the near future).

It is a game to be played and enjoyed. I love racing games. GT5 fails both in racing and in the fun factor many other games have. GT1-3 gets a pass because there was no real competition.

If I wanted to just look at car porn, I've got the internet for that thank you very much.

My problem with Gran Turismo- I'm a huge fanboy.

Its how my brain works. I can't root for anybody but the Packers to win, unless it helps the Packers. I can't think of buying a non-sony console. I cant think of using a non-american car. I can't imagine playing a non-gt sim.

I'm not crazy, so many people seem this way. We have to back something, root for something. GT, my first non-shovelware game, gave me something to root for.

In another sense, GT could be considered cocaine. They start you out with the good stuff (as im told) like GT 1-4. Then, they know they have you hooked. Then, they give you good stuff that isn't up to it's full potential (gt5p, GTPSP). Then, they know they have you addicted. They fed it with molasses speed news for 3 years, then release gt5. Its still coke, but its not the best. Its bad quality, but they have you hooked, you have to buy it. No matter what.

So, no matter what the update does, I have to stick with GT cause 1. I'm a huge fanboy and 2. Im addicted to it.

Haha you know what I find funny. The expections form GT5 are HUGE.

It was set by all the amazing lead up hype and trailers which made us all expect a godlike game.

I think most people are affected by this expectation, including me.

Unless the next update is a HUGE revolution. I.e changes the menu, load times, ads tons of premium content, new tracks, new game modes, online matchmaking, online race events, car clubs, Fully revamped damage model with debris an deformation, fixed lights, just to name a few, I think people wont be satisfied.

To be honest they missed a trick with Prologue. The first time they had the opportunity to test out things, get feedback and change them on the fly and it got what, two largish updates?

People weren't massively vocal about 'shortcomings' of Prologue because 'hey it's not the full game!' and we had confidence in PD, especially with the length of time they were taking that they were in fact perfecting the console car sim as we know it.

In the two years from it's release to the full game all the things they are now hearing complaints about could have been trialled and ironed out.

Yea. ets hope thisnext update is 80GB of non stop juicy changes and suprises us all.

I actualy have no problem with a 80GB update. Both my ps3 and net can handle it.

I'm just gonna say, I absoultely hate that the needless PP system is returning. Considering there are so many restrictions available in game already, this PP system doesn't belong in the game.

PP is extremely limiting with how I play the game, which hasn't changed since GT2 and it was one of the leading in factors in my dismissal of GT5:P. No other GT title needed PP except for Prologue which only had it because developers were too pressed with scanning AutoArt car models and porting GT4 renders to implement any kind of a real tuning apparatus.

I'm not impressed with PD's priorities. Rather than work on bigger, more game-changing issues they've instead spent the last month trying to weasle PP into the game which I knew would happen eventually after all this GT Academy ********.

Depending on how limiting it is, I could sell off my Collector's Edition and my PS3 all together and use that money to buy a new PC/laptop, since there would be no point in a PS3 anymore.
