I love and enjoy playing GT5 and will continue to do so for a long time. This is actually the first GT game that I've played extensively and haven't gotten bored with. I own both GT3 and GT4, but could never really get into them. I also have FM3, which I really like. Though I think GT5 is better overall.

Admittedly, I can understand and agree with SOME of the issues people have taken up with GT5, but I also don't see why some of you have so much bent up negativity towards PD and GT5. I honestly just don't see what's so bad about this game that has people constantly complaining.

Anyways, I'm not expecting much from this update, and the only things that I would really want in a future update are better a.i. (if possible), more in-depth car customization, replay controls, and mid-race/championship saving. New tracks would be nice as well, but even if none of these features ever make it to GT5, I'll still be perfectly happy with the game.

I've been playing it everyday since launch but plan to give it a rest soon. I'm a gamer who plays everything from shooters to RPG's. Now that Soccer season is coming to it's final months, I'll be back to playing Fifa 11 again. I might wipe the dust off of Black Ops too. I'll play GT5 again on weekends mostly.

I've been playing less but that's only because of TDU2. :)

I will be more than just sticking with gt5

I for one definately won't be disappointed with the update. I finally have no expectations and feel a lot happier about it. In fact I've gone the other way and I'm expecting the worst.

Online is really bad in my opinion, I have now gone back to playing with myself, hell I may even put the disc back in and play gt5 soon ;)

I'm giving the game till the weekend and that will be it for me. I also think there should be another option on the poll 'I've given up on gt5 AND pd and won't be buying into gt6' however much they hype it. I have a bad feeling that pd/sony have lost their way. The old saying fits here 'pride comes before a fall'

Your above poll response is poorly written :yuck:

I am still playing GT5, and I am hoping the next update will improve the game and eliminate the save data bug!

I dropped the idea of a complete turnaround for GT5 recently... but I really hope that PD surprises me... and all of us...

Lol, for anyone hoping a lot from this update.

"そんな期待しないで待っててください。細かいけれど大事なもの、が中心のアップデート です。RT @sina_chiffon: @Kaz_Yamauchi コースメーカーも次のアップデートでサプライズがあるみたいですね。18日が楽しみ過 ぎです。

Q: So it looks like that there will be surprises even in the course maker in next update. I'm looking much forward to Feburuary 18.
A: [Have fun waiting for] February 18 but please don't expect that much. Small, but important things are the core of next update.
"

Straight from the man...

Its funny how, even after reading that, you still somehow hoping for a 1 in a billion shot you will be suprised and satisfied.

If PD / Kaz honor their word, and promise monthly updates to GT5, I will remain a loyal fan. They also need to address Logitech G25/27 car handling issues. I couldn't care less about improving the graphics, for I think the graphics on GT5 , yes even with the dumb shadows, looks beautiful. Oh, and the addition of a true Windshield view too would improve my experience.

I'm just hoping that the next few update(s) will allow me to improve my chance at some of those gold medals, more so than 1 per 500 attempts...

I will try Shift2, and that game may or may not, steal me away from GT5.

Well, to be honest, everything that GT5 actually needs IMO are, in fact, small updates.

Current options revamp, some new options added, some features exposed and made functional, some more functionalities added here and there, small tweaks in online options, inclusion of leaderboards and Official Public Races (as in Prologue) - and that is pretty much it.

Additional content is not something we should be looking for, maybe after some time.

I played forza 3 for a few months non-stop it has something that GT5 does not and I cant seem to pinpoint it. The GT series is great but as it stands I have got much more worth out of Forza 3 then GT5. I've already slowed down to a halt when it comes to playing GT5 for hours on end.

I think I know what it is...I'll make a thread later on about it and see what people think

I know what you mean. The only thing I can say to express it, at least for myself, is that Forza 3 has the "soul" of racing in it.

A-Spec is TINY compared to GT4, not even 1/4 as big. Look at my sig. GT4 - 522 A-spec races, GT5 - 127 A-Spec races. 522/127 = 4.11024. GT4 had over 4 times as many races in it's single player career and most were at least fun and at least somewhat of a challenge.

Expanding A-Spec would be one of the easiest things for PD to do. They already spent millions of $$ and a half a decade working on content such as car models, physics models, track models, ai models, car info, licensing, etc., etc., etc... Now the easy part, give us some damn races to make a proper single player career out of and make it at least as long and as challenging and as fun as GT4.

I don't buy all the excuses and so called reasons for a totally lame and inexcusably short A-Spec career and totally ef'd XP system. PD need to fix that in GT5 and they easily could. That would be a big thing.. am I expecting it? No. Should they do it? Hell yes. If they don't this update (1 million % chance they won't)- Fine, but they should be working on it now for a future update. What are the chances of that though? Probably 0. That's what's wrong with Kaz and PD. If they prove me wrong I take it back. I hope they prove me wrong.

it's funny with those polls... you get a lot of post saying bad stuff about GT5 but each time I vote (I like it myself btw) adn check the poll results, there is so much more forum goers liking it than not!

seems we are jsut less vocal about it? maybe we're jsut too busy playing to come and post about!

sure, I'd really like having all my cars as premiums, and all my friends car but... it's still great!

A lot of people have given up on GT5 and a lot of people love it no matter how flawed it is.
This is just a poll to see where people stand with the current GT5 and the GT5 coming after the update.

I myself am ready to give up on it and go back to some PC sim racing.

Poll is up now...exercise your right to vote

Judging by the results, it looks like a lot of people are still playing GT5.

I noticed you are a PC gamer. Perhaps your expectations were too high for this console game.💡

Maybe with a wheel, GT5 would have some sort of longevity factor for me, but since I'm using a controller almost every car feels the same.

Thank goodness for trading or I'd be done with this game.

Maybe it's just me, but I think PD "finished" this game with the last update. I don't think we will see anything groundbreaking until we see GT6

I just LOVE the fanboys that go 'If you hate the game, play something else'.

Just curious, but on the PS3, just exactly what are we supposed to go play? We are here because GT5 offered the ONLY decent (but not perfect) physics model, and good FFB on a wheel. Should I go get Blur? Or Split Second? Or Shift 1? (actually, I already have that one, and it's BRILLIANT game ruined by bad physics and poor wheel FFB, and no way to penalize bashers online)...

Before you tell us what to do, perhaps you could spend a second or two seeing if your comment isn't totally implausible? You know, so you don't come off as ignorant of the situation...

I'm still playing (begrudgingly) this game until Shift 2 Unleashed comes out. If it has got the physics much better than last time, and wheel FFB fixed (which the developers have blogged that they have), it is going to become THE PS3 place where we will finally actually be able to take your advice!

But until then...

Is there a list of whats in the update?

Man don't let that talk get to you. You paid your money like everyone else so don't even sweat it. Just try to find the bits of gold in this mine that you can. That's what I'm doing, trying to find those bits of gold in this copper mine. lol jk.

Still playing GT5, but mostly because the GT series has been my favorite video game series since I was a kid and got GT 1 for doing good in school one year. It's not like the game i bad, hell I think it's pretty great. Of course it's not perfect, not even close. I would like to see a few things changed/added, more RM cars(why 2 Camaros but not one Mustang?BS), more A-spec races, no weird/porno music when browsing the car dealers, you know pretty much the usual stuff.

Now if you want to talk about disappointing games, Halo Reach was so so so so disappointing it pretty much ruined Halo for me.

I almost can't believe what I'm reading. So essentially, if I follow you, you don't want a PP system because you're afraid it won't allow you to take a massively superior car and lap the field. Several times over?

Did you ever think that maybe this was just a little bit backwards. And that there SHOULD be some sense of competition? And that it shouldn't be easy to win races? And that all the grinding taking place in GT games is a farce and completely out of place in a modern driving game (worse yet when it's referred to as a racing sim)?

If that's your opinion, well, what can I say, we're all entitled to our own. But I just can't wrap my head around it. As it stands, the AI in this game is horrible. I'm not the fastest guy out there and when I enter a single make race in practice mode, I can usually work my way around the AI and after 3-4 laps, depending on the track, build up a massive lead. If the PP system does filter down to offline events, which I doubt it will, I hardly think it's going to make much of a difference. But online will be a massive improvement.
This is because you're missing the point entirely, and a lot of ppl from this community usually do when it comes to gaming vs. driving... I'm not up for grinding 80% of the time I'm playing Gran Turismo or any game for that matter. As it is right now, the grinding factor is substantial but it isn't demanding. With an active PP system, not only does my credit per hour change but the grinding:having fun ratio changes too.

I'm up for driving, competitive racing, and whatever GT offers... but the neat thing about Gran Turismo (or at least in the past) is that I was able to do this at my own leisure. I'm not always looking for close races. Sometimes I just want some quick, hassle free credits. I'm not looking forward to buying something interesting off UCD and then going back to dull races that I've done a billion times already at a 20% slower rate. When you really don't want to grind in the first place, those additional 1 or 2 minutes do mean something - and it's sickening when I think that those additional minutes are the result of narrow sighted players who believe how they play the game should be howeveryone plays.

IMO, PP will probably bring out the imbalances in GT4's err I mean GT5's car list. Online is going to be overran with the ZZ-II, Series One, Lotus Elise, and TVRs. Mark my words. When you're in a nearly stock C4 Corvette trying to keep up with a modded MotorSport Elise because PP is probably based off P/W ratio first and modification values second... don't say I didn't warn ya. At least now, I can set a weight limit and a power limit... and anything between them is competitive. With active PP, it will ensure half of any room will be occupied by the 1 well rounded car that sits right at the limit and compromises nothing - except your win.

Haha you know what I find funny. The expections form GT5 are HUGE.

It was set by all the amazing lead up hype and trailers which made us all expect a godlike game.

I think most people are affected by this expectation, including me.

Unless the next update is a HUGE revolution. I.e changes the menu, load times, ads tons of premium content, new tracks, new game modes, online matchmaking, online race events, car clubs, Fully revamped damage model with debris an deformation, fixed lights, just to name a few, I think people wont be satisfied.

Welcome to next gen gaming 👍

He has already said in his tweets ( Kaz ) that "not too expect too much from this update and this will only fix small core issues" - So don't be too dissapointed when we don't have 500 new premium cars (like some are expecting)

I think the problem is people think of it as a game to be played. It is made by a car enthusiast for car enthusiasts. As a "game", it kinda sucks. Luckily, I am a car enthusiast and not a gamer so I use GT5 all the time and will until GT6 comes out.

That's it. Fully agree.
GT5 not game, it's way of living...
See you on track!

Yes, in this you're certainly correct. I'm not much of a gamer. And haven't been in 20 years.

But reading your post, I think perhaps you and others are just too willing to accept the grinding aspect of this game. Not the grinding in and of itself but the defacto method as the means to an end. Want another car? Don't have the funds? Back into the grind we go, dear friends. One, two, three times around, maybe ten. An LMP car is it, oh, that would be at least 25 or 30 times. Yes, time to run around in endless circles with a faster car where we have no chance of losing because the AI is completely uncompetitive in oval racing. I just don't get it. This isn't racing. It's not enjoyable (at least to me). Is this even gaming if there's no chance to really lose? What's the point? It's not competitive. It's not improving your skills. As I said, maybe it's my own fault but I just can't wrap my head around it.

No, there's got to be a better way.

FWIW, PP could bring a whole new slew of problems. And we may face a situation like in Prologue where the 111R or Clio Sport was untouchable in certain classes. But a PP system would be infinitely better than what we have now. Power/Weight alone is useless.

"No, there's got to be a better way."

Yeah there is, a respectable A-Spec career mode and fixing the ridiculous XP system.

Yep that definitely will take the fun out of racing.. maybe the A.I would be more competitive if you didn't run rings around them in a faster car.

How would you like it if the A.I had an X1 and you had a 310hp subaru. How competitive would you be?

Seriously mate, read your statement to yourself.

 sk0pe, you need to open your eyes and read the entire post. >I< don't do this. I'm referring to people in general and to DEATHSARTHE who is upset at the prospect of more equalized racing(edit) grinding.
