Is there a list of whats in the update?

No, there's no list so far. We'll be happy when we get one after the patch is released, because PD usually don't share changelog with us. But we expect better collision/cheating detection, B-spec remote controlling and more complex steering wheel support.

If they introduce PP in A-Spec so I actually have to mingle with that braindead excuse for an AI, I won't be happy. If the AI was a little bit smarter and didn't just plough into you then I'd be all for it, but as it is I don't fancy being 4 laps into a 5 lap race at Suzuka only to be PITted off the track by J. Weber who hasn't even seen me.

I notice the AI are better at not cutting you off if you get a half a car length in on them on the inside while overtaking. If you just get a nose in they might cut you off like a real race driver. The AI are far from perfect but way better than any AI in any GT so far. You can tell a lot of work has been done on them, but much more work needs to be done.

I have two issues with the AI in this game. And to be fair, it's not just GT that has this problem.

1. The AI in many of the events is not really there to race you. It's there to make you fail. They're moving chicanes. Road blocks. Pieces of sheet metal who brake much too early for corners, sometimes brake check you on the straight if you're about to pass them, turn in on you if you're about to out brake them into a corner. Sometimes it's hard to believe they're really taking part in the race. They're more like stumbling blocks. The AI are almost like corners you have to negotiate. It's all a plot to slow you down enough that you can't pass the final car before the race ends. REAL racing is not about starting from the back of a long line of cars and passing 7 or 11 or 15 other cars in 1~5 laps. It's about competition. Tough competition. The AI doesn't race you. It simply tries to slow you down.

2. Simply put, the AI is slow. If they're quick, it means they have a big hp/weight/tire advantage on you. Just look at the pathetic lap times of what your own b-spec idiots manage to accomplish compared to yourself in the same car. Bloody hopeless. And B-spec is basically the AI.

Granted, this game has to appeal to a wide audience with a big range of skill and talent. But even in Arcade mode on the hardest level, they're simply slow and can't manage lap times that even a mediocre driver can manage.

 sk0pe, you need to open your eyes and read the entire post. >I< don't do this. I'm referring to people in general and to DEATHSARTHE who is upset at the prospect of more equalized racing(edit) grinding.

My apologies to you then JJ ( definitely not going to try and say it :D ). I did read your whole post and only quoted a portion just to make it less text for others to read through.
Upon reading it again i still feel your sayin how you don't like driving an overpowered car against slow opponents, but obviously i'm just reading it wrong.
It's 3.14am so please forgive my interpretation of your post.

I voted for "I`m still playing GT5, anxiously awaiting the next update will improve my experience".

It doesn't exactly express my opinion, but it's the closest...
Until I get a proper, stable mounting platform for my DFGT, I'm simply grinding B-Spec for credits to shop at the UCD, so I can't say I "love" the game given my current limited scope of use.
I'm not done with it either, because I've set out to advance as far as my ability will allow, and I haven't gotten anywhere near there yet.

Vibes and such are painting Friday's update as "minor", but I personally wouldn't be placing the most promising of expectations on it even if it was billed as "major". Personally, I'm not anxious over it (except the anxiety that the update will break things) and I'll be pleased as long as I see progress. Hopefully PD is listening, and we'll continue to see periodic updates and progress, because it would be a shame to see what was touted as the legacy of the GT series irreparably tarnished in a salad of awkward gameplay and game progression, topped with bad shadows and standard car renderings (plus many other ingredients), and a jumbled menu layout dressing...

GT5 is my first GT platform experience, so my view isn't colored by the past. For me, GT5 resides somewhere between:
a. It's not "The Real Driving Simulator', and is owed pre-GT6 work because it has issues and missed the mark of what it could've been given the time it took to release.
b. For what it's capable of given inherent limitations, what it does right it does very right and is an incredible game - albeit just a game.

You paid your money to play the game, so take from it what you can and want, and play it - or don't - as you see fit.

Peace...

I hate the "rabbit AI" too. Sometimes in GT5 there are two rabbits or no rabbits though, so at least the rabbit AI situation is improving a little bit from all othe GTs. Still there should only be a rabbit ai as much in real life, about one out of 15 races maybe? In real life sometimes there's a dominant driver who smokes the entire field- just saying.

I voted "still playing, waiting for update." The ONLY reason I'm still playing is I race with buddies one night a week online. If not for that I would, I'd quit playing entirely.

What exactly is a "PP" system and how does it work? Will this only affect online?

Need a rest with GT, a few days before the patch looks like the perfect time for have a little break. It was a nice run since November 24th, the first days, remember I was really impressed by the physics, a very good one but once you go on with the career and you arrive to level 30 then it's all about grinding.. it's a bit a love/hate game. I hope this patch will fix the save bug and improve the game a little, PP system could be a good idea even off line, career mode it's really too easy. I wish it have Level A Arcade Mode difficulty setting

EDIT @ Shade, PP system means Performance Points and it's something that calculate the performance of your car, it give you a limit (i.e. 700pp, in that event your car can't be more than 700pp so you need to adjust performance to enter regulations) Don't know if it can be used offline, but I hope so, like in GT5 Prologue.

I don't plan on buying an XBox for one game series (Forza 4), so I am going to be using GT5 regularly, sprinkled with forays into F1 2010 and eventually F1 2011.

I bought a ps3 just for gt5..

When is this update hitting? Taking it's time that's for sure! The game is ****!

bought mine for mlb the show....
Between the free, no-subscription required multiplayer, and exclusives (MLB The Show, Gran Turismo), I made a purchase decision for PS3, although Xbox360 has some great games.

I have a feeling the new update will be amazingly good

No dont expect too much or you will be dissapointed. Kaz even said so himself, small but important changes only

Judging by the results, it looks like a lot of people are still playing GT5.

I noticed you are a PC gamer. Perhaps your expectations were too high for this console game.💡
yeah i'm a PC racer but i started with Gran Turismo, 1-4. When i had finally played GT4 to death and Race-07 hit, i put down GT, raced on the PC and waited for GT5. If a game from 2007 and GTR-2 could do what they do, I expected 10times more from PD. I'm not putting down Simbin, just that PD in my opinion has always been at the forefront of racing games. Leading the genre. A lot of the content for those PC games is made by "amateurs"; and i say amatuers because creating tracks and cars is just a hobby for them. i thought 'if they can do it, imagine what PD will do in GT5'. But im still playing GT5 some days with more "passion" than others.
