I pretty much gave up on GT5. Just got boring. Plus now that TDU2 is out I am having far too much fun to think of going back to driving around the same track over and over and over. I'm sure I'll eventually go back and do a few races/hot laps... But I don't race online and since that seems to be where the updates are going to be concerned I have little to look forward to

I don't understand all the hat for GT5. People now a days expect perfection for 60 dollars lmao. I'll keep playing GT5 cuz I love cars and GT5 isn't lacking in that department. Anyways looking forward to FRI update

It seems like a lot of these guys only race offline... the AI really is a joke. Personally, I haven't had this much fun in a racing game. Just had a race online yesterday where I won by 0.044 seconds... by luck. lol

GT5 needs-
A gymkhana
Double Decker Buses
And a Camaro bumble bee transformer option.

Hell, while your'e at it, give me a BMW GINA and a Dale Earnhardt #3 to wash it down.

DLC of the year all year

Haha you know what I find funny. The expections form GT5 are HUGE.

It was set by all the amazing lead up hype and trailers which made us all expect a godlike game.

I think most people are affected by this expectation, including me.

Unless the next update is a HUGE revolution. I.e changes the menu, load times, ads tons of premium content, new tracks, new game modes, online matchmaking, online race events, car clubs, Fully revamped damage model with debris an deformation, fixed lights, just to name a few, I think people wont be satisfied.

i think a lot of people are basically expecting to be handed the 10 commandments from god in the next update. they are expecting WAY TOO much; and i think they are going to be let down, like a lot of people were let down by the initial release of GT5. look at all the things you mentioned, im not even expecting any of that stuff.
better transmission tuning has been confirmed. that`s in the update.
they will fix the problem with cheating, corner cutting, barrier riding as it`s needed for GT academy and holding up GT academy.
the file size bug confirmed for the new update.
because it has been over 6 weeks since the last update people are expecting a miracle; well look at the miracle they gave us in 6years.

I have already pretty much gone back to GTR2 and iRacing. Unless GT5 gets a big improvement I dont see myself playing it very much anymore.

Same here. As good as the handling physics of GT5 is GTR is better.

I've got as far on A spec as I'm likely to and the endurance races don't interest me in the slightest.
I've run out of things to do with the cars I've collected. Most of them aren't eligible to enter any of the A spec races so I can't redo those.
I'm not concerned about levels and am not going to grind to level up.
The only thing that was keeping me playing was the seasonal events that were generating enough cash for me to buy some of the more expensive cars I still don't have.
Now they've reduced the payout to ridiculous levels there's nothing left in that for me.
I haven't loaded it up for days.

:grumpy:

You call'in GT5 a miracle? It's a miracle they didn't push back the release date to scan some more AutoArt cars. If you took GT5:P and ported all of the PSP and GT4 cars into it w/ different (but cheap) menu designs BAM! you'd most definitely have GT5. So from this perspective, they really could've wrapped up GT5 in 2008.

The miracle is that I'm still buying into this game for some reason... probably some lingering faith that they'll eventually do the title some justice and release a real patch with some real content instead of hotfixes that should've been ironed out in production.

Fix the graphical issues - detailing/shadows, tidy up the Standard cars with HD resolution or at least fix the bugs they're infested with, add more tracks from previous games (Red Rock, Midfield, Test Course), update the cluttered and static GT Life menu to something more contemporary and relative to the 21st century, how about adding in more events or even an event editor/creator, and update Online with a more thorough user interface, or update B-Spec to be more immersive?

But no... they'd rather waste time with GT Anywhere (which I'll bet nobody will use after the first month) and the stupid PP system from the demo.

There are more pressing issues with GT5 than what PD is picking on, you can't blame players for wanting them to straightening those issues out. It's even more frustrating when you hear that for the last month they've been working on a stupid expansion of a poorly implemented B-Spec and then a useless restriction system designed for the sole purpose of ensuring the game loses the fun factor past titles were known for.

The only remotely benefitial thing I'm getting out of this patch is the Saved Data hotfix... everything else is pretty lame.

Just say'in...

give me the option for kaz, pd and sony have screwed this beyond repair.

You really ought to learn how to recognize sarcasm when you see it.

I'm just gonna say, I absoultely hate that the needless PP system is returning. Considering there are so many restrictions available in game already, this PP system doesn't belong in the game.

I could not disagree more with this statement. Having a sophisticated PP system is something that should have been implemented from the outset and it's one of the biggest issues currently plaguing online play in this game. Assuming it's done correctly and dynamically it will allow a wide variety of cars to match together with similar performance (or will allow you to change tires, drop an air filter, consider engine mods, etc) in order to adjust that performance. In fact, aside from the museum bug fix, I think this stands to be one of the single most important updates we've had since the game was released. I'm thrilled. And I know a lot of other people are as well.

You've never really clarified your issue with PP. Why do you hate it so much?

I'm not done with GT5, yet. But aside from 10 to 15 minutes of hotlapping a day, I'm not doing anything. Well, aside from the seasonal events... Granted, the current ones didn't really tickle my fancy either.

As others have mentioned, I'll be buying Shift 2 and see how it goes. Next up would be Forza 4.

I just don't want people's problems in Online to effect the rest of the game... which is what it's starting to look like to me. After 3 months of grinding the game, I'm not really interested in "balanced" A-Spec races. Sorry, but I'm not... that's not what Gran Turismo was always about for me.

The system will bench several cars I've tuned for credit-grinding purposes (supposing PP is going to expand into A-Spec), it kills any and all interest in endurance racing - which I refuse to partake unless I have a distinct advantage over the A.I. because I will not waste 6 hours of my life to come in 3rd over some silly PP dictation. This also means I most likely will not see level 40. 👎 Also B-Spec... not that I was ever a huge fan but I had planned to one day dust my driver off and give it a serious go, but not at the chance of seeing Bob sit at 7th place for an entire championship or endurance race. I'm convinced the only way they could balance PP with the current implementation of B-Spec is to introduce a more progressive game-play design. I can't say that I notice truly "balanced" A.I. cars swapping positions in races often enough to think that Bob would be capable of keeping poll position or even be capable of obtaining it. Of course PP could also mean more laps... for all races. No thanks, I was quite content with making 100k credits every 3 minutes.

As far as A-Spec or B-Spec goes, PP doesn't belong there. No other title in the GT series needed the PP system, other than prologue and I think that was to make up for a lack of any sort of tuning apparatus. Why fix something that isn't broken? If that isn't useless or needless... I don't know what is. I definitely don't see people in the GT4/GT3/GT2 forums QQing about wanting PP in those games. If you're looking for closer races that's fine, but I can't say that at this time I'm all that inclined to the idea. When I am looking for competitive racing, I can always hop into a competitive car... and just having this option would be so much better than always having competitive races when all I want is my 100k credits to buy a damn virtual car from the UCD.

As you pointed out, the only place that might "need" the PP system is Online... but even from this point I don't see why PP would be necessary. Perhaps they should consider a more indepth interface instead of hotfixing a cheap system like Performance Points. The issue isn't PP, the issue with GT5's online is its implementation in general. Very standard with very few options across the board.

I almost can't believe what I'm reading. So essentially, if I follow you, you don't want a PP system because you're afraid it won't allow you to take a massively superior car and lap the field. Several times over?

Did you ever think that maybe this was just a little bit backwards. And that there SHOULD be some sense of competition? And that it shouldn't be easy to win races? And that all the grinding taking place in GT games is a farce and completely out of place in a modern driving game (worse yet when it's referred to as a racing sim)?

If that's your opinion, well, what can I say, we're all entitled to our own. But I just can't wrap my head around it. As it stands, the AI in this game is horrible. I'm not the fastest guy out there and when I enter a single make race in practice mode, I can usually work my way around the AI and after 3-4 laps, depending on the track, build up a massive lead. If the PP system does filter down to offline events, which I doubt it will, I hardly think it's going to make much of a difference. But online will be a massive improvement.

I'm sorry but if people think there is gonna be some magic update that will make everything good than they might as well start firing up their old racing games now cause there will be no magic update....

I'm sure before GT6 is out there will be some interesting things coming to GT5 but for the most part...GT5 is what it is....sorry...

Any other game and I'd agree with you 100 percent but with the AI in this game I'm going to have to agree with him. I want to get as far away from the AI as possible as fast as I can. They only time I see the A.I. as even half way decent is rolling start races. But then I find those ridiculous as well.

If you're in a car that's equal to the stuff the AI's using, you're going to blow their doors of either way, so, well, not that much of a problem, in my opinion.

Of course, that's not a good thing, to be honest :indiff:

I guess it's all how you take it. For me, GT5 is by and large, the best racing game on the PS3, hands down. It's by no means perfect and it has a LOT of small problems. But I don't see anything that's a deal breaker for me. To me, this game just needs some polishing. I was really looking for a PP system, which it seems we're getting. After this, I'm looking for about a dozen small to medium sized other issues which I hope they'll patch in and I'll be very happy.

I wish there was a:

I love playing GT5, and am anxiously awaiting the next update as it will improve my experience.

Thats me.

I hope Kaz understands how important this update will be.
I would imagine it will be make or break for GT5 for most people.
There will most likely only be a few incremental updates after as I am sure they will be starting their next project and GT5 will be left behind as sales for GT5 will have already peaked and the only following sales will be for bundles and the platinum range when it comes to that.
The advantage of a game like GT5 is that if the game was updated to fix most issues then word of mouth would bring people back and encourage more sales.
It reminds me of a RPG for the PC called the witcher.
When that game was released it was terrible but a new version with a 1.5 patch fixed nearly everything and the game has gone on to be one of the best RPG's ever made.
But I honestly think GT5 will not improve much, I imagine that Kaz and the team are really only putting down bullet points on a spreadsheet of what to fix in GT5 for GT6. The patch will only remedy a few problems.
As they say in the real world, they already have our money so why should they care?

I have been playing tdu 2 since the 10th and it showed me how flawed gt5 really is, sure there servers go down sometimes but there online is more interactive, the ai are more competitive than in gt5, more races, better money earn't from races, except there events.
Since they have ruined the seasonals i'll check it out after the update but i ain't getting my hopes up

than both of us feel the same way...however there are people that are not happy with GT5 for whatever reason it may be and are thinking that some future patch will be released and all their hopes and dreams:scared: are gonna come true. the sad hard fact however is that history tells us that its rare that these magic patches ever come true.

People now a days expect perfection for 60 dollars lmao. e

GT1 & GT2 on the PS1 was perfection for $30!

GT3 on the PS2 was perfection for $40!

So for my $60, yeah, I was expecting more of the same. ;)

I'm waiting a bit for the game to get fixed up. It gets boring running time trials with myself and having the AI 20 seconds behind me.

Wow, I feel like I'm in the minority when I say that I still like playing GT5 :indiff:. More than likely, the update will freshen GT5 up a bit for me.

Gone for the 'I want to give up on GT5; will decide if a I keep playing after the next update'

But more realistically I'm watching Shift 2 Unleashed very closely. If what Slightly Mad Studios have said about this game comes true then I feel GT5 will be dropped like a hot potato.

But if Shift disappoints, then I s'pose GT5's online racing will be....adequate for a while.

YES!!
Another I'm disapointed with GT thread.
That is exactly what this forum needs....

I really don't get it, if people are done with GT5 why still read and post in the GT5 section of the forum?
Buy a game you do want to play (FM, Shift, TDU or whatever) and move on.
At the end it is just a game.

I voted for the second option, still having fun with GT5

This forum has been around for 10 years, many people have been posting and speculating about this game for the last 6 years.

Via this forum we were promised the game to beat all games.

On this forum we all waited and waxed lyrical for years in anticipation of GT5.

Using this forum we have managed to find out all sorts of news about GT5's development a lot of the time before anyone else.

From the information I got from this forum I (and I guess a lot of other people) expected to own a game that would keep us entertained for at least 2 years.

(Not an unreasonable expectation....ToCA RACE Driver3 lasted that long for me, so did Forza2, Forza 3 lasted a year and going back even further I completed GT's 1 & 2 to 100% twice and it was a pleasure to do so)

However what we've ended up with is a game that has lasted a few weeks in peoples consoles before we've realised that's it's one of the most poorly executed games ever made especially if you take into consideration the development time and hype.

So it's only to be expected that via this forum the members will air their displeasure and disguss it.

GTPlanet is about more than GT5 it's about fans of the whole series and I think a lot of fans are in shock and disbelief right now that such a poor effort has been made so we're bound to disguss it with fellow fans aren't we.

no, actually its a poll about how you feel about GT5.

-do you love GT5 no matter what. and will never stop playing.

-do you play it, expect it to get better but wont stop if it isnt improved.

-On the fence

-stop playing but will update and decide from there.

-sold your ps3, GT5 and bought an XBOX360.

-do you love GT5 no matter what. and will never stop playing.

-do you play it, expect it to get better but wont stop if it isnt improved.

see its not another i hate GT5/i`m dissappointed with GT5 thread. you have two options to choose from in the poll to express your love for GT5.
i guess I should not have expressed my own opinion in the original post and left it more as an unbiased scientific poll. which is why i did it. im curious about how people really feel about GT5 and the run up to the next update. there are tons of anti-GT5 threads, it`s true there are, but im actually very surprised that the majority of the votes are for "enjoying GT5 hoping the update will make it better". I figured it would have been more evened out, bell-graph type. Maybe those are the only types of folks popping their heads in on the thread and voting.
I`m enjoying it, my PS3 has been on for a few weeks now; and its been all about B-Spec. Maybe I`m just itching to drive, tired of watching bob fumble around the sacred grounds we call racetracks.

Only playing a few times a week though, trying different cars on the seasonals, racing an endurance here and there.. I thought GT5 would be like GT4 in the sense that if I wanted to, I could play it for a year w/o getting bored.. Big fat No to that.

I hope the patch will fix a lot, or that maybe the next few patches will really help GT5, but if I had to bet on it? At this point in time I would bet against Kaz, PD, and GT5. There's so much that needs fixing in GT Life, I doubt it's possible, unless they add a whole different career mode to play though. Kaz is stingy with race events now and he and PD completely lost their touch with balancing an offline race career.

I had a few good weeks of online races but there's always some d-bag in there wrecking everything. I bought a PS3 blue tooth headset.. that made on-line more fun and I'll be doing more on-line racing in the future in GT5 I am sure. GT5p was better online in a lot of ways though- (ghosting d-bags that wreck everyone), those events that changed all the time that you could hop into and race were fun.

I'll be checking out Shift 2, if the physics aren't crap. Dirt 3 looks like it might be worth a look, but physics again, probably too "arcade" but who knows. F1 2010 is still on my shelf with a half finished full-length season going, haven't touched it since GT5 came out- that's an option. GT5 has/had sooo much potential. Everything is there except a good GAME.

Our luck? GT6 will come out with all we wanted in GT5 but the physics will be dumbed down or something. Probably not, but I'm expecting to be let down and frustrated by Gran Turismo now.

Hopefully the PD team have been hard at work and are going to surprise the hell out of us all- in a good way.. but I wouldn't bet on it nor do I expect it to happen. What I expect from Kaz and PD is more frustration.

What this forum needs is more people who aren't completely intolerant of others opinions. You think it's annoying reading complaints. What annoys me is people running around using the same tired BS lines like "it's just a game" or "you just hate the game" or "go play another game" and the ever popular "you should be thankful that PD made the game, and if you can do better go program a game yourself". Many times using those tired old lines as a launching point to go into something that can only be described as a personal attack.

IMO, all of that is just fanboys trolling anyone who dares have anything negative to say about their favorite toy. They should be banned from every forum.

And for the record, to answer the bolded question part of your post. As far as I know, GTP does not require it's posters to be completely blind to the many failings of the game, nor does it require them to be silent about them.
