Your suggestions are good, but you need to elaborate on them.
As others have already mentioned, P2P programs are not always used for piracy. For example, most Linux distributions encourage the use of torrents to obtain their operating system in order to ease the load on their servers.
However, there are some P2P programs, such as KaZaA, that are known to install 3rd-party applications (classified as spyware/adware) on your computer. Read the reviews on the P2P program and only download the trusted ones. Of course, don't use it for piracy.
Unless you're a pirate, then you have no choice.
Hopefully, you've learned a lot from the three threads (edit: 4 threads) you've started in the Computers and Web Design forum. There's certainly a wealth of information in these threads. You can usually trust what others have posted, and if any of the information is wrong, someone will quickly correct them. Perhaps you'll have better luck on the internet if you take some of our advice. To sum them up:
* Make sure antivirus and antispyware are running at all times. Prevention is better than trying to repair damage.
* Use Firefox. It is not evil. If you don't like it, use Opera. It is also not evil.
* Hacking is illegal.
* P2P is most commonly used for piracy, but it doesn't mean piracy is its only purpose.
* Applications with weird names are not necessarily bad. But before downloading a program, make sure you are clear of its purpose.
* Firefox is not evil.
