When I did the academy live event in Sweden I only had 5 laps to set my fastest time. I didn't know this before I started driving so I got quite surprised when I got interrupted after 5 laps. Is it the same in other countries?

I have talked with a guy from Sweden and he also said he only got 5 laps, and the crew didn't even told him before he began to race, they just stoped him on the 6th lap. He was still so fast he managed to get first position during the event and will probably qualify through that (he is also fastest in the online section in Sweden, he is the guy called hager at the top if you wonder, very fast...).

Btw, what position did you get in the live event? :)

About the other countries, no idea.

My take on how these events are handled are disapointing.

For instance, when I was in the Swedish nationals back in 2008, we was supposed to get 3 laps each in every round.

But since the organizers did'nt know what they were doing, we was in a A-spec race with, iirc, 7 other AI cars.
This made us just sit on the line during the first lap to let the AI's dissapear in to the distance so our laps would'nt be spoiled by running in to traffic.
So obviously, we only got 2 laps to set a time in each round.

It was ofc the same for everyone, but still very bad from the ones in charge of the event.

And I guess the issue you're discussing now are of a similar nature.
Like the organizer can decide how many laps you can do pretty much on their own.

It would'nt be fair if drivers had an unlimited number of laps since many people was probably waiting for a shot.
But could you get back in line after those 5 laps, and get 5 more once it was your turn again?

If you're Hager83, that also sit at the no 1 (Sweden) spot in the online competition, I guess you're already qulified and that your time in the online competition is'nt counted?
Do you know if this is the case?

That would meen that the no 5 spot will make it to Sturup in August.

I'm currently at 2'19.1, but have'nt dedicated that much time to the tt yet. But I got much spare time from now until the competition ends, so I'm going to start grinding tomorrow.
Maybee the 3 of us see eachother in August.. 👍

But I must admit, reaching down to a 2'18.0 (I think this will be the cutoff once the event ends) is a bit of a stretch, but I'm defenetly giving it a serious try. 👍

The academy crew at the live event were very friendly and had clear instructions. Maybe I didn't hear about the five lap limit before I started. It was very noisy with racecars starting up nearby. Maybe i was not suposed to know. My fifth lap time was my final time but I had the chance to try again later for fun.

Yes I'm no 1 in the online timetrial. All I know is that I'm going to the final :) I have no idea if no 5 will go to the final. I'm pretty sure you're going to need 2:17.7 or better to qualify in swedish online timetrial.

Yeah, we'll see.
The cutoff is currently 18.2 though..
But as you say, it might drop another .5, but that seems like a pretty big cut looking at the times from 6th and on..

Future will tell I guess.

Last time I was in a live event here in Portugal, we only could do 3 laps, but after that, you could go to the end of the line and repeat it as many times as you want.
Could be diferent in others coutries though.

I also think the cutoff time will be 18.0, I think it was very hard to get into the 17'ths and the 4th and 5th guys have been improving just a little all the time so I'm pretty sure they have almost reached their best lap time.

What was the track you have raced on at the live event in Sweden? I wonder if the track is same for all the live events, is it?

The live event was held at Falkenberg Raceway, and I'm 99% sure it was Silverstone, exactly like in the GTA/GT6 demo.

And btw Filip and Gustav: LOL at our predictions on the cutoff..
We discussed 17.7-18.0..
Ended up at 17.3, but effectiveley 17.4 since Gustavs no 1 time was'nt counted due to him winning the live event..

Alright, thanks. I was wondering coz i asked one of my mates in Poland, they were racing at Nurburgring F at live events down there. I thought there was 1 track for online and 1 track for live-events qual, but certainly not :)

I think Gustav said it was around Nur GP-F.

About the cut-off time; Gustav will probably qualify through live event and ghostmazta didn't had a driving license which should give us a cut-off time of .571, unlucky you are the guy behind.

Actually, I'm quite happy I did'nt make it.
My work is of such nature that I can't leave for sertain days, including weekends..

But if I would've made the cutoff, I'd defenetly try to arrange so I could go.. But it would've been a struggle, that's for sure.

So Filip, you're going to the national finals in Malmö, right? Do you already recived the email with further instruction from the GT Academy crew? :D

btw. could you please ask Gustav about the track at the live-event, its kinda important for me.

Yep I have got instructions and confirmed it.

Gustav says it was the shortest version of Nurburgring, which is the GP-D.

mrscared where do you live? In sweden we only got five laps to set the fastest time. I was not allowed to improve my fastest time after that. I've heard that in other countries they had no lap limit. They did five laps and got back in the line and could try again. Over and over again

I live in Sweden aswell, so i already missed my chance... But yes, my mate from Poland told me that they only got 5 laps too, the only thing was that he could do the 5-lap-sessions multiple times, he was in need to leave and stay in the queue again, just as You say.

Its strange, but thats the only way to let all the people have their chance :) At some places, there are hundreds of people in the line...

i can say to you guys that tried to predict the cut off laptimes, for my defense i was reading the rules, and couldnt find anything about license. But i did see the day after the TT was finished, it said license.
I was 5th for a long time, but didnt aim for the top, and wasnt driving for long time. but like you did see, i did a 1 sec faster lap i did before at the end of the TT.

Never underrestimate ghoztmazta boys. ;)
