Hey guys, I'm from the Philippines. I've been playing Gran Turismo since the PS1 days but i lost interest due to lack to time (working) and i got bored of racing with the computer. I recently had a renewed interest in video racing game since the launching of GT5 with its online features. Please invite me in your list of friends since i don't know (so far) anybody in our country who's interested in the kind of game i play. My PSN ID is doctsuru_69. My present interest is NASCAR.

Ha, someone else in the same boat, feel free to add me. Shame you're in the US as we might not be online at the same time.

Any other lesser mortals in the UK?

Yea me :) SARGY001 my PSN tag

Sounds like me. Just started online racing (got about 10 races in) and am having a blast when I find the right room. Add me PSN: freeze9

I'll send you a friend request too.

Hey, I'm average, mature and looking to race. Will send a friend request tonight.
<- My PSN

Average, mature, clean racer here using a DS3. =P

Only online racing I've done so far is karts and NASCAR with mixed success, but I'm open to whatever.

Usually online from 3pm til 2am MST.

Feel free to add me, PSN is xBlack_Robx

This sounds ideal for me. 49 yrs old, with 2 kids and keep coming last in online races! But I am in UK so timing is an issue obviously. But saying that, please add me....anyone. PSN is llandudno-boy

I never, if ever, finish in 1st during online races but I do enjoy the friendly interactions when racing with others so please do add me.

You look familiar. Also, I agree with everything your avatar just said.

This might just be the place I was looking for in the GT5 world. I played GT1, and then after a long hiatus got back into it with GT5. I get owned online most of the time. I can usually post some average times with karts, but anything else and I struggle to get anywhere close to the lead pack. I try my best to race clean, and if I appear to cut someone off or bump someone, it's always because I have lost control.

I am 27 and in Canada. Time zone: Central (GMT - 6).

I'll add Whisky today. Anyone else in this thread is also welcome to add me.

Feel free to add me. I'm 28 and in Central time (GMT -6). Honestly, I'm a pretty good driver and good with setups, but am no alien. I like driving with people who are clean and competitive. If it turns out I am a little faster (not likely), I'd be happy to help anyone with questions and we could all get better together.

To me, I'm not interested in winning only. Most of the time i use my BMW car for online races which I always like it to be between 350-450hp. Some skills are needed for this average cars and not only speed. I only will overtake someone when i think i can do it cleanly without bumping anyone if can. Race fairly to others, then thats where i get all the fun. We have to think like we are in the car. I always think this way whenever i get online.

Hey, I'd like to add some of you guys as well. I'm not absolutely terrible, but I'm not great either. Add me HodTheBod - stupid name, I know.

I am an average race who would like to race against the same. I have played since gt2. I love a good close race win or loose. I also hate the current trend of people quitting if they are now in first place. I find that sometimes if you stick it out your can take advantage of other people mistakes..

I also would like to race some basic unmodified cars. Take something out with about 200-250 hp,sport hards, no aids and trash the the heck out of it.

Friend Me if you would like some fun racing. Thanks

After spending some time online and looking over the lap times for many of the other online racing groups, I am definitely in the category of bad to average driver at best. Basically, I would seem to fall into the cataegory of a clean driver, but I am just not fast. Please add me to your group of friends.

How bad are we talking here? I'd like to finally start racing against people but I don't know what group I should be looking at. Are you guys controller or wheel users? I only break out my wheel when I want to get serious, I use a controller when I just hop on to drive a little. I'll post up some average lap times and car specs a bit later so you can get an idea of how I compare. I'm just looking for some clean drivers who don't care about winning or losing, just having fun racing other humans. You can add me now or wait to see how my times compare to yours.

Well, I've only ever seriously practiced once and these were the conditions:

Track: Nurburgring GP/F
Car: Xanavi Nismo GT-R '03 (JGTC)
Tires: Racing Hard
Skid Recovery Force: OFF
Traction Control: 4
ABS: 1
ASM: ON
Transmission: Automatic
Used a Sixaxis controller

Did about 30 laps on this with a best of 2:07.422

For point of comparison

Track: Nurburgring GP/F
Car: Cusco Dunlop Subaru Impreza
Tires: Racing Hard
Skid Recovery Force: OFF
Traction Control: OFF
ABS: 1
ASM: OFF
Transmission: Automatic
Used a Sixaxis controller

Best Time: 2:08.xxx with most laps in the 2:10.xxx to 2.12.xxx range.

You would probably smoke my time if you were using a GT500 car.

I am definitely an average racer! But I do want to grow and learn from my mistakes.

I'm an average racer I guess. Also been playing the game since the very first Gran Turismo on Playstation. I used to think I was pretty good at the game, but woah....when the GT Academy began and I tried to post a good lap time I figured "well this will be easy, probably take a few tries but I'll make it close to the top". Not even close! I think I cracked the top 800 a couple times but only after hours of trying to do the same lap over and over. Then I figured I'd try to qualify for a race posted here on GT Planet...same thing. I guess I'm not as good as I thought.
I mostly play Nascar races online in GT5. I've always liked online racing in Nascar games so if you're a clean racer (or try to be because you suck just like I do) send me an invite so we can get a room going with the other nascar drivers.

We're actually divided between controller and wheel. Some of each. We're also at various levels of skill. Some use assists and others don't.

It's a mixed bag with us.

The one thing that does hold true is that we do have fun at it, and for the most part won't try to wreck anyone on purpose.

There's no speed requirements (or lack of speed, for that matter) to join in the fun. If you visit the lounge and find us too fast, slow, or just plain crazy for you - no hard feelings.

We meet in Whisky's lounge, so you will need to add him through a friend request (he's the original poster here) so you can access his lounge at will.

Looking forward to meeting you and some others in here on the tracks.

Not really sure of my skill due to not wanting to play with the average bear online due to a lot of childish behavior. This seems like a good place to start as I want to have fun verse get upset with what I have seen in GT4.

DS3 controller is what I use and I like clean racing. I am not a bump and nerf kinda guy. Incidental contact is ok. I also like to drive a wide range of cars and not just the "cool" ones that you see most people use race after race. I like the Alpha Dollcette 1600 as an example.

Usually only available in the evenings after 2100EST due to my kids still being up.

Sounds good, I will do that!

Here's a couple times for people to compare to if they want.

All trials done with a SixAxis in Practice mode on the Top Gear Test Track with the cars on Sport Soft, TC=1, ABS=1, everything else OFF with track edges set to REAL. I tried to pick varying cars for a good idea, 1 from each of the two seasonal groups which I figured most people would have and one of my favorite cars to drive.

Golf V GTI @ 225 HP (oil change, ECU, Racing Air)
I could lap in the 1m 24s range without difficulty.

TVR Speed 6 @ 398 HP (oil, ECU, Racing Air)
Looking at times in the 1m 20s range.

Ferrari 458 @ 620 HP (oil, ECU, Racing Air)
Times in the 1m 14s range.

There were no other modifications done to the cars, so stock drivetrain, suspension, etc.

Edit:

I ran the Nurb GP/F in an untouched Mobil 1 NSX (hadn't even changed to it before) with Racing Hards and got a 2:06.xxx (forget the digits but it was under 500) so I'm pretty close to others.

I'm in the same experienced group of under achievers. We race good clean races every night.

you can get me on "unfinishedmonkey"

Ferris, AApex, Mercenary, Henry and Visual...fantastic races tonight! That was the most fun I've had with the game yet. That Fiat race was just too comical, and so were the karts. I'm definitely going to join in whenever I can.

Would like to race with everyone here. Don't know how I compare with everyone here just started racing gt, never have raced on line but would like to give it a try. So please give me a invite thanks!

Not raced online yet so I'm not sure how good or bad I'll be but here we go.

Dude, I had a blast!!! My face hurt from laughing so hard during those races! I still feel terrible for shoving AApex into the vast vacuum of never ending desert at Laguna Seca, though! But hey, a Ferrari with Comfort Softs isn't the easiest to control. And a rainy night on the Nurburgring in a Fiat with less horsepower than a snowblower, that's just a recipe for fun! Then the karts...oh man. Looking forward to racing with you all again!

btw, here is a link to a heart warming story from my Paradise City that is Detroit...Recovered. Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0

Now onto the hundreds of unsolved homicides...

Haha, like I said, don't even worry about it, if anything I think it's more my fault because I'm extra cautious with my braking. Last night was a whole lot of fun, hope to catch you all on again soon, it's great to have some more people joining in on the fun.

As for taking the Browns to the Super Bowl....I thought someone had to go to the bathroom.... ;) (I don't even follow football)

Did I miss something after I left??

Will be racing around 9:30 central
