Hey, why is this race just a week after the previous race? Did they just want to get on in during the 4th of July weekend? Cause I know it's usually every other week..

every gp is 2 weeks apart each year, except for the european and french gps............. i think.

They're having a 3 week break after this weekend and thes there will be a 7 week test ban.

Some people will be having a well deserved holliday.

And because the Belgian GP disappeared there will be a 3 week break again after Germany AND after Hungary.

The next GP after France is the British GP, which is in two weeks. Then it's two weeks to Germany, and then there's the summer testing ban.

Back-to-Back European races are something of a tradition, typically as each country tries to manipulate its sporting calendar.
