I saw the beginning and end of the race. The early battling between various people on the wet track was good stuff. Alonso did an absolutely wonderful job of driving and moving so far up the grid on the first lap. Schumi also did likewise with Alonso being slightly better. Not too long after that I feel asleep. I have had a very nasty headache the past two or three days and I have not been able to get it to go away. Every now and then I would hear a little something from the race, but I did not catch much.

I would recommend you go to the doctors to get checked

Reminds me of Malaysia 2001. Not as much rain but just as exciting. The ending was nice because Jensen got trully the win he deserved.

nice race n lots of incident thehe .. the renault incident - the rear driveshaft or the tire cause in pit ?? probable they dint fix it properly hmm but alonso the devil . he drive like he play games lol :sly:

Just watched a re-run...

Man alive, there was some passing in that race. Alonso on everyone in the first two laps - and around the outside of Schumacher (who has been playing a little too much GT, and tried to force the opponent car into the pits). No idea what Kimi was playing at though.

Very enjoyable race, I thought - and it's a pity there wasn't enough tyre debris for Kubica to drive over at the end to increase his weight.

Wow, that was a pretty interesting and it managed to be somewhat better than the qualifying. I liked Fisi's move on Schumacher's front spoiler...or rather that was Michael's move. It's a shame for Kubica. But well done for Jenson. Honda and McLaren have really picked up the pace. And Ferrari along with Toyota on the Bridgestones fell back.

Now that was a race. I never thought I would see a race like that at the Hungaroring, and I never thought I’d see Button win a race this season! Amazing work, boys. They didn’t put a foot wrong, and they really showed that to finish first, first you must finish!

The rain really shows who the really good drivers are, and it was interesting to see how much some people struggled compared to their team mates. Good stuff. 👍

Yeah, lost in all of the Michael/Fernando stuff is that Jenson won from 14th on the grid. That's a pretty good drive 👍

Yes indeed. He beat Nigel Mansels record of winning from 12th. 👍

Can someone find me a pic of him after he got out of the car screaming looking like his eyes were going to fall out...

Could they actualy modify it before the race ends when he retired ?? maybe add a few weights or something ......? so you know what 2 KG means for Kubica it means only 0.5 kg of ech tire soooo close :(
It's against the technical regulations to add or subtract weight at any time during a race. Tyrrell tried the "water ballast" thing in 1984 and cheated themselves right out of the 1984 championship.

Rain and intermediate tires don't marble as much, hence there wasn't much "aggregate" for Kubica's tires to pick up. But it a great drive from him anyhow; this proves that all the testing in the world isn't quite like what occurs during the pressure of a (weird) grand prix race.

Congrats to Jenson; we were waiting for the engine to have a problem at the end, and thankfully, it didn't happen. He was catching up to Alonso nicely in the laps before the Raikkonen-Liuzzi incident, so he may have earned this one on merit, despite that most reports will state how FA and MS dropped out.

Kimi just plain fell asleep at the wheel, and MS thought he was back at Monaco '98: Wheel-bangin' With Wurz!

And for the rest of you, read this again.

Yes, I think there’s been 4 threads made this weekend, two of them with spoilers in the name. :p
Well, it didn't help that you started the thread title in Hungarian, although it's a nice touch.

I don't recall seeing another thread made when I created mine though, and I don't beileve you can exactly "spoil" a friday practice session. :p

So it was a wheel nut problem:

Formula1.com
"There is a safety mechanism holding the wheel-nut on, and it did not disengage at the second pit-stop," explained Symonds. "That meant the wheel nut was damaged as it was removed, and did not re-attach correctly as the new wheel went on. The reassuring fact is that this is a simple problem to fix, and doesn't put the exceptional reliability of the R26 in any doubt. We will have a modified solution in place for Turkey."

Yeah it was a wheel nut problem. I dunno why everyone and their uncle said it was the axle I saw the damn nut come off. They apparently didnt put it on right in the pits.

Fernando Alonso said it was a driveshaft, but what would he know?

Fernando Alonso said it was a driveshaft, but what would he know?

Nothing because he was in the car looking forward. It probably felt like the driveshaft so thats what he said. If he had been watching the race on tv like me he would have seen it fly off. :dunce:

Something did fly off. Usually when a wheel nut falls off, its closely followed by the wheel.

The driveshaft may very well have been damaged as a result of a broken wheel nut. If the wheel wasn't on properly, it could have put extra strain on the rear suspension and driveshaft, causing it to fail.

Well, it appeared as if two things did fly off (one heading to the corner and another just before he began to go sideways) and the wheel began to angle in as if it was loose, so it may well have been 2 halves of said wheel nut

Do they not use the tether on the rear wheels as well?

I'm sure they use a strong alloy for the wheel nuts but it isnt out of possibility that it was part of it I suppose. Then again perhaps I am wrong in thinking it was the wheel nut at all and it was part of the suspension that I saw flying off after being damaged by a faulty wheel nut.

Do they not use the tether on the rear wheels as well?
Yes, but the tether doesn't keep the wheel in situ on the car. The tether just keeps the wheel attached, but it would still fall off, while still being attached, or something.

Yes that is true eh... Well we can sit here and make guess' all day but we'll never be 100% sure as I'm pretty sure no one here works for Renault.

Great "first" race for De le Rosa as well 👍

This isn't De la Rosa's first race this year!

Thanks to BMW for handing Michael and Ferrari a much needed Championship point :) Yay, at least Ferrari come away with a point! How does this come about anyway?

I think Kimi must have had his eyes a little to close on Massa's Ferrari up ahead, when he blanked out for a second and rear ended Liuzzi :D Not to long to go until 2007 now Kimi :)

In New Zealand, we call the expression of Jenson's eyes -> pukana :D That is the first thing I thought of when he did this! Good on you Jenson! Wasn't the result I was wanting but its a good result for you and Honda! And did James Allen blow anyone else's ears up

Pupik: I stand as one of the accused for spoiling! My apologies! I just couldn't contain myself even though I knew that it was bad and was looked down upon in here! I have noticed that spoiling has been going on a bit in previous F1 GP race threads! But anyway, next race/s, I will make sure not to make this mistake again! But in saying that, somebody is always bound to give away the results etc, so there is really no getting away from it unless you make sure to watch the race first, so that you won't be disappointed!

Also, thanks for the answer to my question - What is Magyar Nagydij :D

Roll on Turkey! Three painful weeks to wait!

What is Magyar Nagydij :D

MS

Well, if you translate it directly it's "Hungarian Largeprize", but it means "Hungarian Grand prix" (Grand Prix = Large Prize).

Edit: D'oh. :ouch:
