major bad news for us aussies (PAL Release Delayed)

gran turismo 4 has been delayed in australia until 30th march 2005
im so shattered now what am i to do this Christmas. I read this news on several websites hopefully when it is released here it will be online.




why why why do the rest of the world get in december and we have to wait another 3- 4 months this majorly blows sony

AUS is a pal territory like Europe. Hope this doesnt mean the EU version will be delayed aswell.

If it does im definitely getting the US version

i cant wait that long i wont wait that long which is the best site to order gt4 online will the european version still work on my aussie ps2
 
I noticed my local gamestore is got the release date set to 30th of march aswell. This sucks!

if the Aus edition is delayed then I would think the EU version might be delayed aswell.

What are they going to do to the EU version compared to the US version? Lemme guess, so they can take out a few things, like they did some of the F1 cars in GT3?
 
If its late Q1 2005 then it better come with ONLINE modes...

More power to Forza I guess.
 
They are probably delaying it intentionally to extend the life of the PS2.

Check out the link Yeti, its GT4 with a release date of 1st Quarter 2005.

At least it will give me some time with CM2005, GTA:SA and Killzone (if the last two don't slip as well).
 
This is why I pre-ordered the Japanese version. The PAL version is always the last one out. Plus i'm a big whore for Gran Turismo.
 
I checked a couple of other forums and they all mention that it is the online version that is coming out in march, not the offline version. Would be weird if it was, KY practically gave the guarantee that the game would be here in december.
 
does anyone remember how much time was between th US and ntsc releases of gt3?

I would love this to be a mistake and that the new date was for GT Mobile, but given that all the previous games have had a 3-5 month delay between NTSC and PAL releases it would not surprise me if the NTSC version was worked on to get a release before Christmas and the PAL conversion had to wait.

The latest news about GT4 on that site comes from August.. So I wouldn't worry too much about that... In August we all speculated the game might come out Q1 2005. Now it's clear that the offline version will be out in december, and the online version somewhere next year.
 
i just get the feeling that gt4 will never come out, just kidding im sure it will eventully come out. but how many times has this game been delayed. it was meant to be out in 2003 but i suppose its for the best how much would it suck to buy two versions of gt4 the online and offline versions

the longer we wait the better it will be.
if its coming out in 05 it better have 2005 model cars.

The date of the last news article has nothing to do with it. I have kept a close eye on the playstation.co.uk site and that is a recent change.

Also if you view the source for the page you will see that sections of the text have been updated within the last few days.

Please believe that I want to be wrong about this, I just don't think I am. Feel free to offer any proof that Dec '04 is still going to happen in Europe/Australia, but Sony's own site states otherwise.
 
I feel sorry for you guys. I just pray they don't delay the US version.
 
Tothegame.com has also changed its European release date to the 7th of January 2005.

Thank god i have a NTSC-J PS2.

:) I wouldn't feel too sorry, if they do delay ours and not yours, then you guys may end up missing out on some feature a la Pal prologue with bonus making of DVD...

That's what I'm wondering... Why would they delay ONLY the PAL version. That doesn't make ANY sense. I know the granturismoworld.com page isn't exactly up to date but I would at least expect a message there. Also with all these adds appearing in magazines, tv... I still think they've mistaken the online version for the offline version.
If the game would come out in Q1 2005, it would be a serious problem. You can't play 2 games non-stop :/ (GT4 and World of Warcraft). I hoped to get some real gaming done in the few months after release...

Once again I'd say it's a case of Online Mode or CYA (Cover Your @$$)-Complex. PD have usually pulled of a global release and I don't see why they'd want to stop now. And as for the confirmation on 3 website, remember don't believe everything you read! I've been checking daily at a variety of places (so much so that they don't even have to ask now) and since there's been no word of any date change from about twelve of my sources as of 3 hours ago, I'd say it's a fair bet that it's just Online Mode or CYA-Complex. And if you don't have anything to do this Christmas, why don't you read a book?

I can assure you that the extra wait for the PAL edition of GT3 was most certainly not worth while.
 
I still don't get why this is such a big deal. Reality check: this is a video game ... doesn't it sound in the slightest bit odd that we make need to call 000 (or 911 if you're American or 111 if you're Kiwi) and bring an Ambo around to treat someone for a severe case of panic attack because some game was set back another few months.

Turbeau, can you even confirm this? Like, provide the links please, and then one of our resident ... experts ... will try and assess their validity?
 
Forza pushed back to Februaury and now it's possible that PD and Sony have decided let's hit them where it hurts, they take the piss out of us not having online and releasing 2 versions well let's delay a bit longer, perfect and release GT4 around the same time as Forza.

If it is delayted it's only a good thing, means that KY still isn't happy about something and want's to completely iron it out. To me it seems if the US does get it they're not getting the real deal and PD might just feel sorry for them as they haven't had a new GT fix for years now.

I can wait personally.

Psst.. wasn't march (maybe may i forget) the original launch of GT back in 98?
