Diamondbacks have signed Brandon McCarthy to a 2-year deal. And added a couple other guys not worth mentioning. Rumors still going around about Justin Upton possibly headed to Texas...

I would think the Rays.

This trade doesn't change much NOW. The Jays are good now and they are built to be good for awhile.

It's important to remember that the Rays just got prospects from Kansas City. Very good ones that will very likely be good once they get to MLB, but they aren't there yet and there is no guarantee that they will be what they are touted to be.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays just did a blockbuster trade and they got Major League tried-and-true talent.

Don't be worried.

Well thank you :P I guess the hardest thing is I haven't followed baseball much the past few years, so I don't have an intuitive sense of which prospects are good like I do with hockey prospects.

And there's the Devil's Advocate point of view . Herpity Derpity, thanks for that hater's rant Prosthetic. I don't have the will or motivation to break it down (and why bother? You're a Giants fan...).
That's because you couldn't possibly break it down. Just like all the other times. Its not a time thing, its a you lack a understanding thing. But keep on thinking the same way all the ESPN sheep think.

I'm glad you're underrating Grienke,
Grienke is a Matt Cain with out the brains and the know how to pitch. All his stats are INCREDIBLY average. He would be a #5 starter on our team, yet gets paid more then any of them.

and 6-7MM a year for a 26 year old who is expected to be the number 3 or 4 starter is a fantastic deal.
Plus the posting fee, which makes it a terrible contract and double what you would spend on somebody who has already proven themselves in a vastly superior league.

Now the Dodgers get to trade some combination of Ted Lilly, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang, and Josh Beckett. I expect Beckett and Lilly to stay since they have minimal trade value, but Harang and Capuano are both coming off the best years of their careers. They should both be able to bring some goods in return.

#RyuReady

2012 isn't even close to Harangs best year. Unless you count 179 IP of 1.4 WHIP, 1.5 K/BB. Once again you fail at the number game. No one will give anything up for Harang because there are plenty of much better options still out of the market.

Capuano is your best bet at getting anything half decent. Even still his early hot streak didn't last very long and his historically has never been that great of a pitcher. Most teams would rather roll the dice on a potential high upside young guy in the #5 spot which pretty much every team in baseball has in AAA or AA.

I have no idea why Arizona is discussing trading both Bauer and Skaggs for Gregorius. A pretty foolish move.

Kevin Youkilis is now a Yankee. He still has to pass physicals and stuff, but he'll be rocking pinstripes for NYY.

The Brady family will now be torn.

Shin Soo Choo to Cincinnati, Jason Donald will join him there.

Drew Stubbs, Trevor Bauer, Bryan Shaw and Matt Albers will go to Cleveland.

Didi Gregorius, Tony Sipp and Lars Anderson to Arizona.

Napoli's deal may be voided with Boston.

I'm hopeful this trade works well for the Reds. I felt like Gregorious was a pretty good prospect, but there really wasn't much room for him with the current lineup. I think a lot of Reds fans are probably happy to see Stubbs go. He was promising enough when he came up a couple years ago, but other than his speed, his stats declined dramatically. His power numbers disappeared, and his average took a huge dip. However, he is an excellent base stealer, and a fantastic fielder. When Heisey was giving Ludwick days off, that was a nasty defensive outfield with Bruce, Stubbs, and Heisey. Anywho, it will be nice to have a player who can hit for average in Choo. The leadoff spot was awful last year.

I don't really know anything about Donald. It looks from his stats that he's played sparingly over the past few seasons. Hopefully the Reds won't need to use him much. With Votto, Phillips, Cozart, and Frazier (who I hope starts over Rolen), I think they should be pretty solid. Yes, as much as I like Rolen, Frazier should be the starter at 3rd. Rolen will still be great as a backup and, being the veteran he is, will be a morale booster in the dugout.

Speculation on the future of New York Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is heating up and the Toronto Blue Jays appear to be right in the thick of things.

A source close to the negotiations told Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports that both teams are nearing a deal that would send the Cy Young winner to Toronto for a package that includes catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud...

Keep in mind this is TSN, Canada's ESPN (very Toronto-centric).

Toronto must have a hell of a farm system to be able to trade for every person ever.

D'Arnaud was acquired in the Halladay trade, Anthopolous has done a lot of drafting and signing in Latin America, lots of young players to flip for veterans.

I'd LOVE to get D'Arnaud and Gose. We're probably sending Dickey's personal catcher in the deal.

Here it is, boys and girls:

Toronto has a 72-hour window (expires Tuesday 2pm ET) to negotiate an extension with Dickey and then the trade will be finalized.

Toronto Acquires:

-RHP R.A. Dickey (38 years old; on a 1 YR deal worth $5M, requested a 2 YR, $26M deal from Mets)
-C Josh Thole (26 years old; Won't hit arbitration until 2014)
-Prospect TBA (not thought to be "elite")

New York Acquires:

-C Travis D'Arnaud (will be 24 years old in February; Triple-A)
-RHP Noah Syndergaard (20 years; Single-A)
-C John Buck (32 years old; on a 1 YR deal worth $6M)
-Prospect TBA (not thought to be "elite")

*Blue Jays may also send some money to offset Buck's $6M or add another prospect to the deal.

Basically, it's Dickey for Syndergaard and D'Arnaud. Plus an MLB catcher swap and maybe a lower-level prospect or money swap to even out the value between the two catchers.

Is Thole Dickey's catcher? I'd imagine for a knuckleballer having a specific catcher would be important. It does hurt to give up D'Arnaud and Syndegaaaaaaaajfdnajakd, but you have to give something to get something, and the Jays have 5 very solid starters now, and J.A. Happ ready to step in as the #5 guy in case of injuries. Baseball talk in Canada in December. Unheard of

We get younger in this deal and now we have our own top 3 in Harvey, Wheeler and Syndergaard. Last catcher the Mets traded for did pretty well for them.

Yes, Thole is Dickey's personal catcher. He can't hit much though.

Well that's good. It's not awful that he can't hit, the Jays offense should be good enough to compensate, especially if he's only playing 1 in 5 games. Really the only other dead bat in the lineup is Rasmus, who is good enough defensively to compensate. It's ok to have 1 or 2 defensive specialists.

Reports saying it's done pending a physical, 25M over 2 years extension. It's a win-win-win for everyone, the Jays get their guy, the Mets get some good prospects, and Dickey gets a raise.

The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a contract extension with National League Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.

The extension, which reportedly is worth $25 million over two years means the trade with his former team, the New York Mets will now be made official after Dickey passes his physical...

John Farrel's got to be kicking himself right now. Left the Jays for his golden job in Boston, only to see this happen.

Well, now the pressure is on for Toronto. They have a solid rotation and a quality line-up, all in a year where the rest of the AL East looks "weak" (by AL East standards). The window of opportunity is now.

A one-year deal was signed so the Astros could add Carlos Pena to our lineup. I just want to see my boys start winning again and not fail consistently like in the past two seasons. If this is what it takes to get something positive going, then so be it.

So Toronto got RA Dickey and offloaded the slag they picked up from Miami. Nice.

That little extension made it worth it... Otherwise it probably would be a bad trade unless they win it all next season.

El Gigantes extended Casilla to a 3 year $15 Mill. Its not straight 5 per year, so its probably a little back loaded by a mill or two.

They also signed Andres Torres to a year $2 Mill deal, being our 4th OF.
