Ready for the first series of the 2012 season? It's the Seattle Mariners vs. the Oakland Athletics in Tokyo starting at about 6:10 AM EDT Wednesday. The pitching matchup will be between Felix Hernandez (SEA) vs. Brandon McCarthy (OAK). Every other team will still be doing either Grapefruit League or Cactus League action.


The ESPN commercials are talking about some of the Opening Day games including the St. Louis Cardinals at the Miami Marlins on April 4. FOX Saturday Baseball will have about four games on the card when April 7 rolls around. Among the many matchups for April 7th...

* Royals at Angels
* Red Sox at Tigers
* Cardinals at Brewers
* Giants at Diamondbacks

Ugh.. This sucks, oh well. If only belt could play 2nd. Belt has so much more potential then Huff... Huff is a good hitter but he isn't the power hitter he used to be. Belt has insane amount of power, an insane amounts of patience (something that actually hurt him, he needs to be aggressive) and plays an almost JT Snow like first base (not quite as JT was the best!).

If Huff sucks at all in the first month.. Either demote him to bench roll or release. Belt is bored of the minors... Hes been putting up numbers that makes Bryce Harper drool in pitcher leagues no less.

Also release Stuart, Whiteside, and Zito now.. They are all useless. Sign Zach Duke for 5th starter duties and call it a day.

Anyways.. ESPN's top 500 player list is a good source of comedy. They have Carl Crawford above Shin-Soo Choo. :lol:

Crawford has managed to have an OPS+ over 120 ONCE in his career. Choos worst year (2011) he had a 105 OPS+ which just so happens to be Crawfords career average (and Cody Ross). The only thing Crawford does better is steal basses, but he plays a poor LF and Choo plays a great RF and has rocket arm. Has more HR power takes more walks and gets more doubles. If Choo can stay healthy he is a top 5 RF. Crawford isn't a top 5 LF, a less valuable position. Crawford is a good player but his impact is on the basses.

I dont know,know one does. But i do know this magic is a smart buisness man who made the bulk of his money on investments post basketball. So i think he has earned that trust and is more qualified in owning a team than most in the MLB.
Damn if the dodgers went for 2.3bil. I wonder how much like say the padres or even like the clevo browns would be worth?

Our front office sucks big time.. We just got rid of one of the guys that wanted to spend more money because the investors are pocketing so much damn money. We have great scouts and coaches. We've been the best developing our #1 prospects for the past half decade. Sabean is a meh GM, hes done some good and a crap done of bad.

The Giants will have no problem putting good teams on the field as they have one of the most desirable places to watch a game and a loyal traveling fan base.

I should have clarified scouts,coaches etc. Yeah that stadium is gorgeous. Thats one of my bucket list ballparks. My buddy lives in SF,maybe ill get some cash together this summer and get out there

If anyone loves AT&T Park (or just San Francisco in general), it's me. AT&T Park is my favorite ballpark of all the ballparks in Major League Baseball. I am just not really a baseball guy. So I can't say that I've actually been to a ball game.

The Mariners and Athletics mark the first official series of the 2012 season, yet both will return to the States to play more exhibition games. What do you make of this season starting in Japan... so that the teams can return to the States to play more exhibition games? Watching shows like "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interruption" have had their own thoughts along with countless other shows. But where do you all stand on all of this?
 
Hey, I like the Japan thing. Nothing like waking up at 5am to watch baseball.

Angels hit back-to-back-to-back homers today. Kendrys Morales is 8-13 this spring. Hopefully he'll do great during the regular season. I don't want him to hit any walk offs.

Trying to convince my parents to get opening day tickets. $35 a pop in the nosebleeds.

It's a great park if you don't like home runs.
 
My favorite park is old Tiger Stadium. I've seen dozens of games there. I have been to the old Skydome ( now Rogers Centre ) and that is nice but nothing compares to your home team's ballpark. Comerica Park I have yet to see but will hopefully this summer. Watching the Tigers now vs Atlanta on MLBTV.

edit: I'm new to MLBTV. Do any of you have it? Watching games live on my PS3 now and I notice I cannot watch a few games that are live right now. Is it because of spring training? I really hope this won't happen once the season starts. I didn't buy the package just to watch the Tigers.
 
Actually, pretty much everything is better than Joe Robbie/Sun Life stadium where the Marlins played. :lol: Hopefully this new one is a lot better. Hopefully that neighborhood will change over time, but I think it and the traffic are still going to suck. The good thing about Joe Robbie was that you could at least park, tailgate, and play catch in the huge, huge lots they have there.

The only other place I've been to was New Comiskey for a Sox game when I was 8. It was pretty awesome. Got to see Frank Thomas.
 
At 49 years old, Jamie Moyer earned a spot on the Rockies' rotation. I think his first start would come on April 7 at my Houston Astros. I think he'd be the oldest pitcher to win a game if he did win. Being an Astros fan, I'd obviously hope he DOESN'T win against my Astros. But considering how little faith I have in the Astros since their 56-106 season last year, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Houston team fail again in giving all the fame to Moyer.

Speaking of my boys... I don't really know what to expect. I can just realistically hope we get at least 60 wins. The Astros haven't gone ANYWHERE since their improbable 2005 World Series run. Never made the playoffs since. We've done more failing than winning. At least this season should be a chance to head into the American League in 2013 with their heads held high... until we get our asses handed to by the Rangers, Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, Angels, and teams like those.

In 2010 the Giants hit 162 HRs, the same number as the Rangers that very same year. And that was without Sandoval.

Giants will hit more then 162 this year.
