Ha i was actually going to say that,but i figured i would reference the horrible state of Florida. Dodgers fans are the most well known for this
 
The Astros will play ball for the 2012 season here in Houston tomorrow night. Here are the first five series to start off the 2012 campaign:

* Rockies (4/6 - 4/8)
* Braves (4/9 - 4/11)
* at Marlins (4/13 - 4/15)
* at Nationals (4/16 - 19) --- first 4-game series ---
* Dodgers (4/20 - 4/22)

I really hope we get over 60 wins. Hopefully, we won't have the worst record in the NL and overall like last year. My hopes are very low for my Astros, but I'm hoping things get MUCH better rather than get much worse.
 
I'm not a fan of Angel Stadium. It feels plastic. Dodger Stadium is okay but it's old and it needs more improvements. The park I like the most is the one at Dodgers/White Sox Spring Training facility in Arizona. It's gorgeous.
 
That's what happens when you put the ballpark in cuban town. Now the crowd is 80% morons who chant lets go heat. At least at the stadium the fans that went were actual fans. It just looked empty all the time because it had 80,000 seats to fill.

The outfield is extra huge. They might have to bring the walls in and change the uniforms next season. Pipsqueak David Samson was saying John Buck was banging them off the score board with the roof open and windows closed during BP. Problem is you only get wind in Florida at around 5pm (during BP-- derp). Any sailor knows this! In the afternoon and during prime time there's no freaking wind at all. Especially in the summer. Seriously, what a dumbass. That's why you saw every deep fly ball just die as soon as it got anywhere near the track. Ask LoMo when he had to come back 10 yards for that one fly to LF.

Wow the Indians and Blue Jays are in the 15th inning right now. Not a bad way to treat the fans on opening day. Go Jays lol.
 
Mets won a game. Milestone achieved, now they can do whatever they want for the rest of the year.

Marlins are 0 for 18 now. That can't be good.
 
Sixteen innings! That's how long it took for the Toronto Blue Jays to finally down the Cleveland Indians in a 7-4 victory. I'm told this is the longest Opening Day game in history. Or maybe the most innings ever for an Opening Day game. L. Perez won for Toronto while J. Asencio lost for Cleveland.

Congratulations to all other Opening Day winners for those who played on Thursday.
 
I watched the second half of the Tigers/Red Sox game.. It was excellent. Watched almost all of the Reds/Marlins game.. Cueto was pitching really good, and I have a hard time faulting the Marlins hitters on that game. He was hitting the corners with absolute control.

Crawford sprained his thumb on the last Spring training game.. Hope this doesn't set a trend. Said to be not serious but the cats still out of the bag if hes going to play tomorrow or not.. Hope he does, do not want Theriot playing SS :/
 
The Verlander-Lester matchup (Tigers vs Red Sox) did not disappoint. Superb job from both starters, although neither was involved in the decision. The Red Sox bullpen lost its first game, I suspect that's the first of many bullpen losses this year.

Roy Halliday was magic. After giving up back to back singles to start the game, he shut the Pirates down the rest of the way. Eight innings, 2 hits, 5 K's, 92 pitches thrown. Johnathan Papelbon, late of the Red Sox bullpen (see above) picked up his first save in a Phillies uniform. The Phils had a lackluster offense, something I'm afraid will continue until the return of Utley and Howard, with eight hits only one of which was for extra bases (John Mayberry double). Utley's replacement, Freddy Galvis, went oh-fer while grounding into two double plays in the process; a trend I certainly hope does not continue.

Oh, and Chooch, three for three with the game-winning (and game's only) RBI.
 
Do you guys watch Full Count on yahoo? I can't figure out what it is. Seems like baseball's version of NFL Red Zone, but then I figured out that it loops. QUE ES?

Also, my god Verlander is nasty. I watched the condensed game and was like, "Damn, that's why he's the MVP." That 12-6 curve is stupid nasty.
 
I can't wait to see Weave pitch tonight. It's going to be crazy when King Albert is announced.
 
Last year, bottom of the barrel both in the National League and overall with only 56 wins. This year... I'm hoping for something much better. If we're going from the NL to the AL, at least that should be motivation to make this season special in looking forward to 2013. My Astros are in action starting tonight against the Colorado Rockies. The real kicker in this series will be the game where Jamie Moyer will take the mound tomorrow night (all 49 years of him).

I may talk bad about the Astros, but I pull for them all the time. It's just sad how we haven't done a damn thing since making the 2005 World Series. Playoffs for us are not likely this season or any coming season. However, I just hope we can rise above last season's woes. I don't think the Astros even been at or over .500 at ANY point last season. I don't care what sport or team you follow- if that happens to your favorite team, you're mad as hell. So I'm just hoping for something MUCH better than last season.

Astros failed- 5-3 to the Rockies. Not even the back-to-back jacks to bring the game to a 3-3 tie were enough to force any action. The Rockies just put on two more runs for insurance as they pulled away to a win. That's now 6 straight Opening Day losses in a row for the Astros. It's just one game out of 162-something. Hopefully, the Astros can play harder and not let losing fester any further.

The Diamondbacks also had a five-game losing streak on Opening Day, and they snapped theirs with a 5-4 win vs. San Francisco. Seems like a reoccuring theme- my teams fail, everybody else does better. Yay.

I kept hearing about the Yankees blowing a save opportunity as the Tampa Bay Rays won 7-6 at home.


It isn't the end of the season because your team lost today. You haven't won the championship after winning just a few games. Nobody finishes unbeaten in baseball. There is still about a whole half year to determine who'll make that run for October. You can't gauge winners on just the first few weeks and games. So yeah. Long season ahead. Just don't screw up often to where you're already having to look forward to next season.
 
Light that baby up! The Angels beat the Royals 5-0. Jered Weaver with 8 shut out innings only allowing four hits and 10 strike outs. Albert went hitless, but Erick Aybar delivered in the 8th with a bases clearing triple. Awesome game. 👍
 
It's pretty cool that they won 5-0 on Pujols first real game. #5.
 
After a great opening day win for the Tigers, Fister is on the mound today at 4:05 pm. Can't wait. How about Carlos Pena returning to the Rays and having a grand slam and walk off hit on opening day against the Yankees? I like watching him play. I'm sure most of you guys know he was on the Tigers during their "lean" years.
 
Timmy never does well on Opening Day. But the Giants weren't able to capitalize on opportunities and were to aggressive with Kennedy who had early control problems. But the Giants offense looks so much more balanced now and deeper with Pill, Sanchez and Schierholtz on the bench.
 
Jamie Moyer has plenty of chances to pick up a win this season and become the oldest pitcher to win a game. He's 49 and won't turn 50 until some time in November. His Rockies are here in Houston for this 3-game set. We lost 5-3 last night. My usual skepticism usually notes that people make records at our expense. So I wouldn't be surprised if we fall to 0-2 and help Moyer become the oldest active pitcher in the National League (or in history) to win a game.

The pitching matchup is Jamie Moyer (COL) vs. Lucas Harrell (HOU).
 
You know those huge flags they roll out on Opening Day? I never knew how big they were till I saw one in person. Holy crap they're big!

Whenever there's a flyover they fly right over my house. This was from maybe 10 minutes ago. Way louder in person.

Astros win! A lead-off homer started things off for the Astros in the first inning. Since then, we tacked on a two-run jack later in the game. It was more and more offense. Houston really is starting to hit better after just two games. The Rockies committed back-to-back errors on one Astros' hit. We parlayed that into a triple. Jamie Moyer did pitch very well. Lucas Harrell picked up the win as Mr. Moyer took the loss. Here were the numbers for this game:

HOU: 7 runs, 10 hits, 0 errors
COL: 3 runs, 7 hits, 3 errors


Let me babble about a few other results...

* Milwaukee beat down St. Louis 6-0 in this battle of Midwestern teams in Milwaukee. Brew Crew offered the red birds a beat down.

* Shout out to Arizona as they won 5-4 over the Giants in Phoenix. Hudson won for ARI, and the save went to J.J. Putz. Bumgarner lost for SF.

* It was 7-4 as Cleveland fell to Toronto in Cleveland. Toronto could sweep if they win tomorrow's game.

* The kitties from MoTown pounced on Boston to the tune of a 10-0 blank job. Detroit Tigers got two runs in the first, then scored at least one run between the 4th and 7th innings, including 3 in the 4th.

* The Royals ruled over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 6-3. Hochevar won for KC as D. Haren lost for LAA.

Played like total rookies today but managed to catch up and take the win. Glad we're off to a good start this year. (minus the errors)
 
Run down the order with a few games...

* If you were in Detroit, you may have needed to take cover because LOTS of offense was generated. Both teams combined for 35 hits. But it was the Tigers who defended home turf in 11 innings. It was 13-12 on the scoreboard in Detroit as the Tigers won in walk-off fashion. Below won for the Tigers, and former Astros' pitcher Mark Melancon lost for Boston.

* If you hate the Yankees, you'll love this news. If you love the Yankees, you're heartbroken. Tampa Bay blanked the Yanks 3-0. Helickson won for TB and a Save for Rodney; Hughes, meanwhile, lost.

* It's the first time since 1966 that both the Yankees and Red Sox both get swept in Opening Series to start the season. Both will come back because both teams are just that good.

* Now on to my Astros. We won 3-2 behind the solid pitching of Bud Norris as Nicasio lost for the Rockies. This win for the Astros is the first time they have gone over .500 since July 29, 2009. It was also the first Save for Brett Myers since September 27, 2007. One more stat- it was our first Opening Series win since 2006. Up next is a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves. A big night is expected on Tuesday as the Astros celebrate 50 years since the first Astros game (as the Colt .45's) was played.

* Arizona won 7-6 at Chase Field over the San Francisco Giants. I saw a few brooms in the crowd. Sure the fans in Phoenix put them to good use.

* In the battle for SoCal, the Padres prevented getting swept thanks to two words- GRAND SLAM. No brooms for the Dodgers. Harang was the losing pitcher for LAD while C. Richard won for SD. IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING... The Dodgers and Giants will lock horns for the first time this season May 7 through May 9 in Los Angeles.


This will be the first season I'll follow Major League Baseball with the MLB Network. I must say that I enjoy looking at a few games from around the league besides from my Astros. I actually saw the end of the Giants/D-Backs game on MLB Network. It seemed like the wheels were falling off for the Diamondbacks until Arizona man'd up and secured their victory.
