Thanks!
Do you have a time for the Miata? You mentioned testing it, but I don't see a time.

@LongbowX
Any chance you can run the Low Power list?

Anyway, yeah, I'm cutting cars. I'm not opposed to cutting cars per se.
But I have been trying to pad the lists, so there are more cars similar especially in the area of the middle.
So the slowest cars would be 1,2, & 3... but then you don't get cars with a bigger advantage unless there are more than 10 drivers racing.
That's why I think it's important to have more cars in the list.

And I'm trying to pick tracks on the itinerary to make sure there are a variety of tracks. Not just several tracks likely to advantage certain cars in the line-up.

Of course the podiumss are more likely to be drivers in the faster cars... But not because they got the faster cars, but because they actually raced well when they got the faster cars.
That's why I don't think it's fair to say someone "only won because they had the faster car". No, they won because they had a car that could perform - and they made it do so.
EVEN
if you get a good car... you're still going to have the likes of Kling & Longbowx coming for your points in the mediocre cars.

Yeah you make a very good point and the time for the miata is :46.748. I did a time trial in the got estate and its like your driving a limousine around those really tight corners its kind of funny. Also do you still want the top speeds of cars? Watermelon I just bought the skyline and holy cow! 320,000 credits! I thought we were supposed to buy relatively inexpensive cars.

I've been running them on Special Stage Route X - up over the hump, into the downhill, until starting up hill then taking the top speed reached at the dip, if you know what I mean.
And then noting if they were at the limiter, in the red, or close to it.

I also still need the Performance Points of these cars (after oil change)

Yeah teh Estate is nutty. :D
Should make things interesting. ^^

Which Skyline is 320,000 credits?
The 62?
It is a very nice car, after all.

Well, hopefully everyone's signing in every day, whether they actually play or not, to build up the credits bonus.

I didn't notice when I bought it... but I may have bought it when I did the glitch :guilty: (back when that was possible) & I just went buying all the vintage cars I could think of.

I can run the Low Power list today. Should I pick a track, or do you have a suggestion? (Seems lots of testing has been done on Deep Forest which I quite like, anything is fine though) If you want to test them on a track with a different characteristic (GVE/Rev is slightly biased towards speed probably, or another with more curves).

I don't remember any of the PPs... I will check when I go on if someone doesn't first. I remember the 280Z had 370pp though.

I will see how much time I have. If I test the Low Power cars, I would probably not have time to do the top speed testing until tomorrow.

Oh I figured you would be using GVER - and that would be OKAY.
Trial Mountain might actually be a good choice too.

I would like them to be tested on a different track than Eiger or Deep Forest... to get an additional variant in the data

Also I need PP & credit price, and top speed on BMW 507 '57 as well

I'm going to be adding that to my test lists right now. (i mean testing it myself on all the tracks I've tested the vintage cars on so far)

I think between those two tracks I would stick to GVE/R. Simply because I think there would be more lap time variation with Trial Mountain. And you have a lot of data for curvy tracks.

I'll look the 507 up....I quite liked it. Just enough understeer for nice stable cornering.

EDIT:

Yeah I get double credits everyday and its not that big of a deal though

Well I won't be able to do speed testing until tomorrow at least but I think what would work is if you go on ssr x in race mode that way you could draft off the other cars and get a rating that may be closer to the vehicles actual top speed

Alright you asked for eiger nordwand and here it is. All cars comfort soft tires all aids off except abs which is set to 1. I ran 2laps for each vehicle.

Notes Volvo estates size could cause issues as players may not realize how large the car is and could end up hitting other players unintentionally
Similar problems could be caused by the skyline and its high cost might put people off
Mini Cooper maneuvers better than I remembered in gt5
Mazda autozam is fast but requires a delicate touch because of rwd configuration
Suzuki cappuccino is easier to control then from what I remember from gt5
If you want to test these cars on different tracks please don't ask me because I will not have time

Yes, I figured that was going to be part of the fun. :mischievous: :sly:

Make things interesting. :)

Well, after you drive it a few times, you'll get to know where that long rear is. Or at least I hope so.

More like, people will learn to give the Volvo Estate a wide berth in races. :boggled:

Sticking this here so I don't misplace it in my copy & paste adventures.
(I also attached a textfile of the times to the 3rd post, just in case I rumble that up while sorting things out.)

I unfortunately did not have time to finish this today. It will be completed tomorrow morning. I will probably test some of the cars top speed at that point too if there are still some to be done.

Another things to note is that not all the cars (especially the Kei cars) power goes all the way to redline, sometimes you should shift early. Need to look at that engine graph carefully... was better in GT5...

Your asterisks are the opposite of what I meant did you do that on purpose or did I confuse you?

Your asterisks are the opposite of what I meant did you do that on purpose or did I confuse you?

No, I'm marking the ones that DO hit the limiter, so I am alerted not to schedule those for say, Sarthe no chicanes or SSRX or SSR7 or whatnot.

Oh ok I see what you did yeah that probably makes more sense. This chart is more of a reminder for yourself right?

Oh yeah, it's totally mostly for me. I mean I'm going to post all this stuff in the thread's opening post, but in a more clear cut way.
The list I slapped into this thread was just so I didn't lose it... It's just my reference in making up the itinerary, and for general interest.
And I reposted it so anyone helping to test for top speeds can see which cars still needed to be tested.

Watermelon I got the rest of the top speeds for the vintage car set
Volkswagen golf 1 GTI 127mph*
Mazda MX-5 miata (NA) 146mph
Nissan fairlady 2000 (SR311) 151mph*
BMW 507 129mph*
* car hit its limiter at top speed

Was the 507 bouncing off the limiter & lurching?

What I mean is that some cars go into the red & threaten, and then some cars bounce off the limiter, lurching as they do... When you say they hit the limiter -you mean they're actually lurching, right?

Did any of them just go into the red that you can recall?

You mean like it hit top speed lost speed then started gaining again?
Yeah.
Were any in the red but not actually hitting it & cutting out?

Some cars get nowhere near it. (Like the cube -which makes it good for ovals haha)

And OMG the Honda Z Act... that thing is geared bizarrely. You hit the top speed before getting in the top gear. :boggled:
