Yeah.
Were any in the red but not actually hitting it & cutting out?

Some cars get nowhere near it. (Like the cube -which makes it good for ovals haha)

And OMG the Honda Z Act... that thing is geared bizarrely. You hit the top speed before getting in the top gear. :boggled:
Yeah I low what you mean the ones I marked with the asterisk hit the limiter and cut out. The miata was reining but did not hit its limiter. The BMW was the only one of those 4 to not need the hill on ssr x to reach max speed. Oh and yeah I hate the Z act because of its horrible gearing. I tell you it's best running the Z act in 2nd gear

@GTsail290
Any chance you can run the Low Power list? (same as above)

Melon -
I can run them all tonite.

Which track would you like me to run them on?

GTsail

I just bought the '62 Nissan Skyline and holy cow! 320,000 credits! I thought we were supposed to buy relatively inexpensive cars.

The $320,000 price is a carryover from GT4. It was the same price in GT4 and seemed very expensive in comparison to most other cars. I guess they (PD) considered it a limited edition classic and priced it accordingly. It was a giant killer in GT4 and was the vehicle of choice in the 1000! Mile race series in GT4 if you were after a 200 point win.:)

Respectfully,

I also re-tried with the S800...I felt I hadn't got the most out of it. That's just a feeling I use to guide my testing. I was right.

I also tested the "vintage" cars that weren't done - my MX-5 went 147 and was into the redline but not quite.

All other no limiter except those marked.

Thanks GTsail I appreciate that info and thank you long bow because I don't think I was going to have time to get those max speeds on the low power cars

@GTsail290 - whatever track you want is good 👍

OK, I think I will run them on Special Stage Route X:idea:

I don't really know the course that well and could use the practice. I wouldn't want to get lost or make a wrong turn during a race so the practice would be useful.:);)

JK.....

How about either GVE or Trial Mountain?

Oooh OOhh Trial Mountain yes please.
Since that's a track that's popular to run. :)

This is how the Vintage list has shaped up:

  1. Nissan Skyline 2000GT-B (S54A) '67
  2. Honda Civic 1500 3door CX '79
  3. Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto '66
  4. Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70
  5. Marcos Mini Marcos GT '70
  6. Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63
  7. Toyota Celica 1600GT (TA22) '70
  8. BMW 507 '57
  9. Nissan Fairlady Z 280Z-L 2seater (S130) '78
  10. Mazda Cosmo Sport (L10A) '67
  11. Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR '74
  12. Volkswagen Golf I GTI '76
  13. Nissan Fairlady 2000 (SR311) '68
  14. Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA) '89

But my sense is that maybe this would be more on target:

  1. Honda Civic 1500 3door CX '79
  2. Nissan Skyline 2000GT-B (S54A) '67
  3. Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto '66
  4. Marcos Mini Marcos GT '70
  5. Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70
  6. Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63
  7. Toyota Celica 1600GT (TA22) '70
  8. BMW 507 '57
  9. Nissan Fairlady Z 280Z-L 2seater (S130) '78
  10. Mazda Cosmo Sport (L10A) '67
  11. Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR '74
  12. Volkswagen Golf I GTI '76
  13. Nissan Fairlady 2000 (SR311) '68
  14. Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA) '89

Any thoughts?

So I guess it's only the bottom 5 that change order... It seems more often than not that the Skyline is the rotten car of the bunch, heh. Maybe it's deserving for those who win. I understand why you wouldn't put it last though. I think the 1300 being ranked "better" than the Marco on the second list is probably right.

Seems good!

I feel like the second list is better but I feel like the 2seater should be further down the list and I agree with longbow the skyline should be for first and the civic for second

Yeah it's big and slow. It doesn't maneuver very well. I think the civic is better because it is smaller more maneuverable and its also faster

Yeah I guess it's kooky handling negates that it really is faster on straights than not just the Civic - but I think it's faster than the Marcos too.
But since all tracks have at least some corners, I guess on average that doesn't matter.

Plus, everyone I guess complains about the Skyline anyway, it does seem fitting that it would be #1

I'm also waiting on someone to complete a test of the vintage cars. So we'll see how that shapes up.

Also: How about the comparison of the Cosmo & the Fairlady 2seater?
Which is more likeable? They seem to be very close in average speed too.

Isn't someone getting times on trial mountain. I think the Cosmo might be better. The fairlady 2seater is faster but I believe they have similar acceleration and the Cosmo handles better. I think it may actually depend more on the track

And this is how the Low Power list is shaping up....
Also waiting on at least one more set of times to add in.
I think GTSail is running the low power cars at Trial Mtn.
And another person is running the vintage list somewhere else.

  1. Nissan PAO '89
  2. Volvo 240 GLT Estate '88
  3. Ford Ka '01
  4. Suzuki WAGON R RR '98
  5. Nissan SKYLINE Sport Coupe (BLRA-3) '62
  6. Nissan Be-1 '87
  7. Daihatsu MOVE SR-XX 4WD '97
  8. Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge SS '08
  9. Mini Cooper 1.3i '98
  10. Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92
  11. Toyota Yaris F (J) '99
  12. Daihatsu Copen Active Top '02
  13. Honda S800 '66
  14. Triumph Spitfire 1500 74
  15. Nissan CUBE EX (FF/CVT) '02
  16. Suzuki Cappuccino (EA11R) '91

The worst thing that could've happened would be to have the Volvo Estate as #3 car - and then having several of them in some races :ill: when new people join in. :scared:

I like this list I don't think you should change it. So the #3 car is the starter car for people who join in the middle?

Okay the results are in - someone ran the cars on Rome Reverse.

So this is, I think, the final list.

The Civic, Skyline, & Spider all came out to be the same averaged over.

And the Marcos & the 1300 came out to average the same as well.

So I think it's a matter of asking "how likely is it that someone will do well in this car?"
Therefore, yeah, the Skyline should be #1, because it's not that good PLUS everyone hates it.
The Spider is just perhaps a tad better than the Civic.

I'm pretty sure that while the 1300, and its air cooled engine... is kind of a drag sometimes... I do think it has more power than the Marcos if we're thinking of hills & such. I also think it has less understeer. (Though they're both FF drivetrains).

  2. Honda Civic 1500 3door CX '79
  3. Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto '66
  4. Marcos Mini Marcos GT '70
  5. Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70
  6. Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63

  11. Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR '74
  12. Volkswagen Golf I GTI '76
  13. Nissan Fairlady 2000 (SR311) '68
  14. Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA) '89

I like this list I don't think you should change it. So the #3 car is the starter car for people who join in the middle?
Yeah the low power cars are more obvious I think. Somehow more straight forward in their performance abilities.

As the straights increase, the 280Z gets better. On my test list, the 280Z is actually 2nd fastest...even faster than the Miata. The Cosmo is the more balanced car...it might be enough to call it better considering the other results.

And the Skyline is fine as 1 or 2, but considering how much people don't like it and its slow...making it last is understandable.

For the Low Powered list...I think it will provide for some interesting racing. I think the AZ-1 is a wildcard, the right driver could make it very fast indeed. I like variables like that though, it mixes up the racing. I remember the Triumph bering more difficult to drive in GT5, it seems easier now which is disappointing( that's just me though :embarrassed:).

Ha ha I had written that the Autozam would be the wild card... and then I closed the window & my draft wasn't saved. So I didn't bother writing that part again.

Yeah, if the races were going to be with a lot of alien perfect drivers... then the Autozam would belong further toward the faster end of the list. But the fact that most will be at serious risk of messing up in it, kind of evens it out. So it'll definitely take some skill & luck to pull off getting the real most out of the Autozam on most tracks.
That said, there are some tracks it's quite beautiful on (Tskuba!), and someone will be lucky to get it on those.

Yeah that autozam is something really special :D When I tested the low power list the autozam had one of the best times although I believe if I tried harder I probably could have gotten the record with it. But I t was the most difficult vehicle on the list to drive. I find myself not use to feathering the gas pedal on the way out of corners in low powered cars like this in order to prevent oversteer like I am in faster rwd cars. In my opinion it's the most fun car on the list. Longbow, it's not just you the triumph was more difficult to drive in gt5 and it was more fun too. I was actually pretty disappointing to be honest. It wasn't bad but it wasn't what I remembered it to be. :(

I've run the cars at Trial Mountain:

1:58.232 -- Suzuki Cappuccino (EA11R) '91 = GTsail290

2:07.549 -- Nissan PAO '89 = GTsail290
0:00.000 -- Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92 = GTsail290

All the cars are relatively close in speed with the Suzuki Cappuccino being the strongest.

I missed running the Autozam for some reason.:scared: I guess.

OK, putting life and limb on the line,:nervous: I've gone back and run the Autozam at Trial Mountain:

2:01.615 -- Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92 = GTsail290

It did ok, I only spun-out once!

See you on the tracks!
