Makeshift Shuffle Club - Time Trials & Testing for club car lists - all welcomeOpen

Cars being considered for a club spec 1-make list (tuning prohibited) (cars to have ready)

It would be more like a slightly faster Vintage list, with some of the cars we didn't include. Not opposed to a very old list though, that sounds interesting too.

*dusts off thread*

Hey, just finished a set of Hot Hatch times:

Twin Ring Motegi East (online)

1:41.929 -- Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 '85 = amarynceos
1:42.949 -- Mazda Kusabi Concept '03 = amarynceos
1:44.147 -- Renaultsport Clio Renault Sport 2.0 16V '02 = amarynceos
1:44.423 -- VW Golf V GTI '05 = amarynceos
1:45.054 -- VW New Beetle RSi '00 = amarynceos
1:45.199 -- Honda CIVIC TYPE R (EK) '97 = amarynceos
1:45.389 -- Volvo C30 R-Design '09 = amarynceos
1:45.930 -- Peugeot 207 GTi '07 = amarynceos
1:46.268 -- Ford Focus ST170 '03 = amarynceos
1:46.520 -- Mini Cooper S '11 = amarynceos
1:47.223 -- Citroen C4 Coupe 2.0VTS '05 = amarynceos
1:47.565 -- BMW 120d '04 = amarynceos
1:48.171 -- Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 T Sport '09 = amarynceos
1:49.173 -- Suzuki SWIFT Sport '05 = amarynceos
1:49.427 -- Abarth 500 '09 = amarynceos

That gives us enough data to get that list ordered now, doesn't it? :)

(edited, put in Civic)

oh

Yes, there's only 14 in that list.

The brera pig is missing too

I cut the 80s peugeot since it's in the other list.

Haha, I did the Civic but forgot to type it into the text file I guess. d:

1:45.199 -- Honda CIVIC TYPE R (EK) '97 = amarynceos

I thought we were ditching the Pig Window? Guess I'll give it a run at Motegi as well.

I remember talks of ditching the pig window. I don't know if we said for sure whether we were getting rid of it.

I know I suggested ditching it and replacing it with the Civic. Apart from not exactly being a joy to drive, the Brera has top speed issues -- i.e. it's over 10mph faster than the next fastest car on the list, and 30mph faster than the slowest. It goes 163 (at Daytona) when most of the cars run in the 140-150 range (the only exceptions being the Abarth and the 'Swift' [hah] at 134 and 128).

I don't think top end is a big deal. Doesn't it have crazy understeer. Don't make fun of me if it really is an fr and not an ff. I haven't really taken a good look at it. Plus think about the e type. It's a car that has good odds at winning on tracks with lots of high speed sections but has a low chance of winning on a technical track.

Yes, the understeer is absolutely phenomenal. o_O;

Ran some laps at Motegi East just now, and the Pig Window managed a 1:45.438.

A few other things to be considered would be that due to its weight and the amount of understeer...it's going to be driven differently than the other cars (although we also have the 120d that will be different, but not as much). The speed will give it an advantage at any longer tracks (and if anyone with a higher skill manages to get it, they'll be able to extract a much higher finish out of it than normal - eg. Volvo 240GLT in the Low Power, or even the Skyline Sedan in the Vintage). I think its something to consider, its a car that is hard to pin down because of that. I would rather it not be in the list either probably.

Wow it's really that bad huh? Doesn't each list have really I enjoyable car to drive anyway?. And I still understand why you hate the fxx so much. It's so fun

@watermelonpunch , I took the liberty of ordering the Hot Hatches list, based on the assumption that one totaled up the finishing positions for each and used the sums that resulted:

(edit, oooooh I hate how it takes out my spacing :grumpy: )

Great work, well done. GTI and Clio look exactly the same on time. Even the overall time is so close its not even statistically relevant. But, more cars in better!

I also hate how it takes out my spaces, haha.

Don't start testing just yet. Until we can (re)generate interest in this club and more people start joining again. I don't see much point of testing to make new lists of cars if we can't get enough people to race with us. Lately we've been getting only around 4 or 5 people. Today however we got 9 or 10 at one point. Lets just wait for awhile. Another big problem is that I host this event but the thread and whole idea was created by another person so we can't edit the first post on the main shuffle thread that contains the rules and the list of cars that we use. The original hostess has too much going on in real life to host so I took over.

Time to ask a mo derator to lock the thread, copy what you care about and start a new thread?

That's been done before - and it is effective.

I really recommend, if that's where you are going, making one list stupidly easy - use the first two cars you get in the game, the first couple prize cars for getting half or all the stars, whatever we can find that makes 8 cars that are staggered. That can become the default 'recruiting' list - requires little purchase or commitment, but hopefully is fun and they want to come back for ... more, more, MORE!!!

But I don't know the first thing about making new threads

Um... If you click at the bottom of this thread, in "GT6 Single Races & Time Trials" it will take you to the base page. Top left corner has 'make a new thread' button... and then copy your text, etc.

Be sure you put in Time (By GMT, or 3pm EST, or whatever), day/frequency somewhere EARLY.

Add two, maybe three posts - and posts after 1 can be 'reserved' as the only thing in the body, so you can then go back and add what lists you want, how you want to choose tracks, etc. Look carefully at the first page of several big threads for how the layout of the first page is often handled.

At least, that's my suggestions - ymmv.
