McLaren in GT4: Welcome to the Party or Uninvited?

Heres the lark/parabolica F1 in 1997 spec with the high downforce kit.

This kit was actually developed for the 1997 FIA GT race on the streets of Helsinki.

The CLK-GTRs and 911 GT1s had similar aero kits.

i don´t htink that it is as good as the mc laren (inly perhaps a version with 600 or even 700 ps/hp)but it looks not bad!!! 👍
 
McLaren has the best style in motoracing history!!!!!

I hope they can put the McLaren Mercedez MP4-15 into GT4

The GT-One isn't the best car ever, and by definition no true supercar can be. But the GT-One isn't even the best supercar ever, it made little impact compared to cars like the F1 and F40 and Diablo. The fact that theres only one of them and thats still owned by Toyota mean it's never going to be road teset, or compared to cars like the F1. I have no doubt that it is faster than these cars but it's not better.

The GT-ONE isn't even a supercar, it is a Le Mans protoype. One car was made in 1998 for homoolgation purposes, but for 1999 the rules were changed and it was classed as a prototype.

It should be compared with the Bentley Speed 8, Mercedes CLR or open top Audi R8
 
The road one shouldn't sine it's a road car. However it's a road car that's never getting a road test.
 
.. oh girl(?) just look at the LM track speeds for example or the lap times!!! THE GT--One is nearly 5 seconds FASTER THAN ur little mc laren (i don´t want to say that the mc laren is bad but it IS not as fast as THE GT-One!!!)...diablo???...f40???oh waht do u compare??? the f40 and diablo nevr were so good like GT1 or mc laren!!!!....there u see again that WOMEN HAVE JUST NO IDEA :sly: ....tzzz.gt-one...tzz....f40..!! look at the TRAP SPEEDS here:

The fasteat ever Mclaren time at Le Mans was 3.45 in 1997. The fastest GT-ONE time was 3.29 in 1999.

But the Mclaren was a genuine road car were as the GT-ONE was a prototype, not a road car (even though one homologation special was made).

They are essentially from 2 different classes.

Also top speed tells you nothing. The Audi R8 has never been the quickest on the straights, but far quicker over a lap. Also the regs have been changed a few times in recent years, with aero changes etc. Top speeds have gone down a little but overall lap times are as quick as ever.
 
GT-One, you can try to turn this into a flame war if you want but you'll just end up being told to go away by tyhe mods. You said the GT-One is the best car ever, no it's not. The best car ever should have the best combination of performance, luxury, economy, reliabilty and more. The GT-One has performance. A 911 is techincally a better car than the GT-One, if you want to go down the route that it's best because it's faster the F1 cars are the best cars in the worl, and Indycars are better than the GT-One and the Mereced CLK-LM is bettter than the GT-One and so on.
 
...911???? are u crazy??? u can´t compare the 911 with a SUPER HIGH PERFORMANCE GT-PROTOTYPE!!!!!!!!!!! the 911 costs about 100.00Euro and the GT-One???...its about 2 million perhaps because it´s UNIQUE; FAST; AGGRESSIVE IN DESIGN AND IT´S THE REVOLUTIONARIEST CAR EVER!!!!!!!
 
GT-ONE Lover, if we judge the 'best' cars on your criteria then no the GT-ONE is not the best because the Bentley Speed 8 and Audi R8 are both superior.
 
And I think he'll find that the most revolutionary car ever was the first car ever.
 
However I think the GT-One may be the best GT-One ever, but the CLK-LM was the best GT1 ever.
 
Technically it was better, but it didn't win did it? Add in that the CLK-LM's heritage, it was the next car on from the CLK-GTR which was the most successful GT1.

I reckon Jaguar is right... isn't the F1 made out of a moulded shell... Modifying an existing one would probably be harder than making a new one!

I thought so as well at first but it is just the centre section that makes up the chassis, like other supercars and race cars. If you look at pictures of the long tail F1 GTR you can see were they were stuck with the original chassis centre section. The extended front and rear are much wider than the centre chassis section.

the TOYOTA GT-One was the revolutionariest and best car ever in LM!! Toyota just didn´t have LUCK!!! i said so before: look at the TRAP SPEEDS and LAP TIMES!!!!!!
GT-One is minimum two seconds faster than ur lovely CLK-LM (which also didn´t win at LM only fly up!!!..it only won in FIA GT and that because of the reglement:
only Mercedes could modify its car DURING THE SEASON and POrcshe , Mc laren and all the others NOOOTTT!!!!) so just think a lttle bit HONEY: to say that the GT-One is bad only because it didn´t win (but was leading the whole RACE and was 2nd at the end!!)

The CLK-LM was more successful than the CLK-GTR.

At LM both CLK-LM's retired after the first couple of hours in 1998.

Plus the Toyota GT-ONE only competed 3 times, LM 1998/9 and the Suzuka 1000K in 1999.

If it was in FIA GT it would have beaten the CLK-LM.

Mercedes had to bring out the CLR to compete, but that was a disaster!

Look up some facts!

The GT-ONE was a great car, but no better, or worse, than the best of the competition.

The car that flipped was the CLR, totaly different than the previous years CLK-LM.

The CLK-LM was far supperior in every area than the 911 GT1 98. Better aero and engine.

Mercedes even beat Porsche with their 'old' CLK-GTR in the first 2 races of 1998 against Porsches new GT1 98.

It was only after Le Mans that the CLK-LM debuted in FIA GT and carried ont he winning streak.

Mclaren were not even competing in 1998 as a works team. BMW's funding had moved to the V12 LMR that won LM in 1999.

The Audi R8 and Bentley Speed 8 have both bettered the GT-ONE in all areas. They are just as quick over a lap, despite more restrictive engine and aero regs, have better fuel economy and covered more distance over 24 Hours.
 
Perhaps, I'm not saying that the GT-One wasn't faster or more advanced. The CLK-LM wasn's as successful as the the GTR though (at least I didn't think it was).

CLK-LM won every race it competed in apart from LM.

CLK-GTR won 5 or 6 races in 1997 and the begining of 1998.

Your not too bright are you. First off you say the GT-One is the best car ever, it's not. Then you say it's the best LM car ever, it's not. And then you try and say it's the most revolutionary LeMans car ever, it's not. You have to go way back to find the real cars that revolutionised GT racing and LeMans.

And I find it rather unsetteling when another bloke calls me honey.

...yes JAG!!!! ur right!! U KNOW WHAT WAS GOING UP AT THAT TIME(in contrast to other GIRLS(?)) Mercedes went home after the first hours!! it only won FIA GT because it could MODIFY the car and others had to drive with cars they could modify!!!

i know its kinda off-topic but im dying to know if the logitech momo-racing steering wheel for pc will work on the ps2. its got programmable buttons which could be a problem. please help!!! :sick:
