...yes JAG!!!! ur right!! U KNOW WHAT WAS GOING UP AT THAT TIME(in contrast to other GIRLS(?)) Mercedes went home after the first hours!! it only won FIA GT because it could MODIFY the car and others had to drive with cars they could modify!!!

Mercedes won FIA GT because it had the best car, full stop.

Mercedes were the ones at a disadvantage at the start of 1998 as they were running their old car for the first 2 races, yet still won.

Porsche had their new car from the firat race, unlike Mercedes.

The 911 GT1 was a bit of a pig really. Its wide flat six engine meant it had limited undercar aero, plus the engine was underpowered. This is why Porsche switched to a new V10 engine for there cancelled 1999 LMP900 car. The engine was later used in the Carrera GT.

And for GT-One Lover, you may think the GT-One is the best car in the world but you'll never convince everyone here that that is so, so please just cool down, will you?

If you just listen, no-one is disagreeing that the GT-one was a great car, but there is no 'best car', there are only 'good cars' and 'better cars' so please just leave off. This war of words is giving me a headache, and there's no end in sight.
 
...but "live4speed"-HONEY said that the GT-One was even slower than a F40 or a Diablo GT!!!..she(?) also said that The Toyota only has performance and that it isn´t enough to be a "GOOD" car as u said Polyphony001!..for her the GT-One is not even as good as a 911!!
 
Look, I am in no way downing the GT-one. As for live4speed i don't know whether (s)he is or not. I am not fully aware of the top speeds of the cars, but what you have to realise here is that the car was only a prototype. The other cars mentioned made it into prodution. This is one of the largest sources of bias against you, GT-one Lover. Great as the GT-one is, there are many other cars with similar performance that went into more than just a few examples.

The GT-One isn't the best car ever, and by definition no true supercar can be. But the GT-One isn't even the best supercar ever, it made little impact compared to cars like the F1 and F40 and Diablo. The fact that theres only one of them and thats still owned by Toyota mean it's never going to be road teset, or compared to cars like the F1. I have no doubt that it is faster than these cars but it's not better.

Not trying to provoke anything here, I actually don't know your gender, but your last post confuses me. You say, "That is what I said. Where in the post do I mention that?" You either mean "That isn't what I said" or "That isn't what I meant" or perhaps something else. Please clarify, I'm confused!! :confused:

What I said is quoted right before I point out that was what I said. I said the GT-One wasn't as influencial as cars like the F40, F1 and Diablo. I also said I have no doubt it would be quicker (referring to the road version).

And GT-One lover if your unsure if I'm he or she, the question marks just been pointed out to me so don't worry about it, I thought you were trying to provoke me. I'm a he not a she so now oyu know, thanks.
 
...cleared!!okok!!let´s have PEACE!! i accept that the GT-One is not THE BEST CAR because it doesn´t exist any BEST CAR!!...but let me my DREAM(which is real)TOYOTA GT-One, the revolutionariest,MOST BEATIFUL and fastest PROTOTYPE car (bentley is nearly the same--->audi engine, toyota design so i don´t take it into account!!)at least for me GT-One Lover!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that's about as far as we are going to get so I'll try to accept that, but I still can't quite get why the GT-one is so incredibly influential and revolutionary. I would have thought the most revolutionary concept car would be the first ever concept car. Anyway I'm not going to argue any more.

The GT-One is far from the most revolutionary LM car.
Remember a car named the GT40? Four straight wins at LM ('66-'69).
What about the 787B?
The Audi R8?

Any car should be allowed into the game.
Yes, even the Honda Odyssey.

How american is it? It isn;t. It's called sensible. In a world energy crisis, using twice as much fuel as is necessary seems absurd. Besides, it's not difficult to make a fast but fuel efficient car, but obviously you americans haven't found it yet. You notice the two ways of increasing engine:

US: Put a V8 in it. Japan: Put a turbo on it.
US: Make the V8 bigger. Japan: Make the turbo bigger,

etc. etc.

in the end we have a 500 cubic inch V8 giving the same output as a 2 litre 4 cylinder. Which sounds more fuel efficient?

But yeah, I'd say the 787B was far more revolutionary than the GT one, with its Quad rotor engine. What has the Toyota got? A boring old 3.6 V8.

Toyota and Nissan American?

Don't think so!

By European/Japanease standards 30mpg is nothing to write home about. The best are upto 50/60mpg now. Even an Audi A8 4.0 V8 diesal can do 40mpg. A lightweight sportscar with the same engine would get 50/60mpg+!

Alternative fuels is the next huge growth area. Diesals are now as good as there petrol equivalents.

Audis next L e Mans car will be a diesal Turbo. Porsche are also considering a diesal prototype!

BTW the 787B was always an also ran and only won because of a big rules break at the end of the Group C era. The one revolutionary thing about the GT-ONE was its aerodynamics.

But 'revolutionary' is a strong word to use for any cars. Evolutionary is more suitable.
 
Nissan isn't american, they're owned by Renault as are Samsung.

Toyota aren't either, though General Motors owns a stake in Suzuki, Subaru and Isuzu
 
i don´t think that we need a Mc Laren in GT4 one is enough the fina McLaren is very good but not fanatstic.The gt-one and the nissan R390 are better cars so..... 💡
 
Okay so we have two german teenagers both born in 1988, one called GT-One lover the other called R390-Lover. Hmmmmmmm, nothing suspiciouse about that now is there.
 
Let's hope his friend is not going to share his hard disk of lemans cars pictures with us........ :indiff:

Isn't it obvious? He mentions the GT-one again as 'better than the Mclaren' here too. Is more than one account per person covered in the AUP?
 
Interesting oversight.

Appalling arguement. Next time you want to go throwing around all you know I at least would appreciate some sources - I generally try to dig up at least one site that supports what I'm saying, I don't know anything about the construction process for a McLaren F1, the success level of the CLK series in FIA GT racing, the Momo steering wheel and other such things.

If you want to be taken more seriously it doesn't take much to throw an URL at the bottom of your post.

GT-ONE/R390 Lover: We appreciate your passion on behalf of your chosen car, however we're entitled to our own opinions and some objectivity on your part would go a long way. I'd tone down the over-enthusiasm and also the irrelevant picture posting.
 
I think it's a bit dumb to get two user names and think we wouldn't realise... I agree about the pictures though, that really chews up bandwidth for 56k users

"R390 Lover" is my best FRIEND here in my town u MUSHROOMS!!!!!
he´s a bit older than me but we´re EQUAL FAST (R390 Lover is about 0.065 sec. faster than me--->we tested on Miedfield Raceway with two ESSO ULTRAFLO SUPRA GTS!!!)...some days ago as he was at my house,WE MADE HIS ACCOUNT AND TO FIND EACH OTHER VERY QUICK AND TO SEE THAT WE BELONG TOGETHER (SAME LIVING AREA; BEST FRIENDS!)WE TOOK THE SAME USERNAME-STRUCTURE!!!!!!!...so plzzz don´t be like children nad don´t classify other people only because of their USERNAMES!!!

...seriously???...oh i didn´t know that this happened before but i can tell u we are two different people!!!....i´m not an expert of such things because THIS IS MY FIRST MEMBER-BEING EVER!!!...i hadn´t internet before and because i´m such a GT-fan i decided to get my first account on the Site which i saw many months ago at a friend (when i bought GT3 in september 2002 and printed the "PRIZE CAR LIST" to make a strategy how to play this game as quick as possible!!!)
