I reckon Jaguar is right... isn't the F1 made out of a moulded shell... Modifying an existing one would probably be harder than making a new one!

Hmm, checked the 1995 entry list and you guys are right, my mistake. I thought the GTR didn't officially come into existence until 97 in the form of the longer, wider, generally refined model.

god damn..well since im too lazy to read through the whole conversation, ill just answer the question in the topic. YES the McLaren is welcome, damn i have been waiting for those exotics in the gt series for a while already. I think there should be way more, from the regular McLaren models, to all the other racing ones...damn the Lark racing McLaren F1 racer looked really nice....ill post a pic if i can find one....

sadly, this might be the only car of this caliber in gt4. Im hoping to see all the other exotics show up in GT5. Of course, even without those cars, the gt series are damn impressive, and i love them for what they are already :)

Well, we'll see in November. But for the most part, McLaren is definitely in the house. Surely, I'd like to see more. I kind of think that for every race car, there should be a homologated version. Like, look at the Vipers, the Beetles (not the music group 60's teen girls were nuts for), but... hey, how about the M3 GTR from the E3 show floor? I think the heart of the McLaren goes to BMW. BMW's motor for it makes even more HP than most exotics. So, why not? Good one, ARTA.

Next?

...like the GT-One for example or the r390 gt1 and courage c60(but isn´t it better than the mc laren???)....but there are road cars of the f1´s calibre! for example the BUGATTI VEYRON (which isn´t out yet but certainly will come!)

The Bugatti Veyron is a fat over-engined VW. It may have greater power, and possibly a higher top speed - but it ain't in the same league as the McLaren - i doubt anything ever will be.

...and what about the ENZO, the SALEEN S7(ok it hasn´t as many ps as the mc laren but it is really good!!), CARRERA GT, FORD GT,PAGANI ZONDA ...???
they´re in the league of the f1 or???...here are some more cars which can run with the mc laren:

the ferrari F50 GTR(!!!); 575 GTC(!!) and BUGATTI CHIRON!!!!!!!!!(ok all cars are only uniques,or concept cars but they´re real!)

The current spec Corvette C5-R, Saleen S7R, Prodrive 550, 575GTC, Viper GTS-R etc. lap quicker than the original short tail F1 GTR now, despite being in GTS/GT2 (1100kg), compared to the F1 GTR which was in GT1 (900KG minimum weight).

The F1 GTR will be on a par with the Panoz GTR-1, short tail R390 GT1 and the cars mentioned above (if the latest versions are used).

The Toyota GT-ONE, Courage C60 and any modern prototype are significantly quicker than even the long tail Mclaren.

ummm as far as i know the GT-One is only a prototpye race car IRL... the road versions in GT are "fantasy" cars as far as i know whereas there is a road legal F1.

There is at least one road car version of the GT-ONE.
In 1998 the GT-ONE was designed as a 'GT1' car which required at least one road legal car to be homologated.

In 1999 the ACO realised the GT1 cars had morphed into out and out prototypes, so dropped the requirement for road homologation. LMGTP replaced GT1. The Bentley Speed 8 in 2001-2003 was entered as an LMPGTP also.

...but there´s only ONE GT-One!!!!!...i´m its LOVER i have to know it!!!!
the reglements for LM ´98 WERE: every manufatucture had to build AT LEAST one road car and because the GT-One was a very complicated (front diffusor) and aerodynamically nearly PERFECT GT-racecar toyota decided only to comply only the minimum condicion(mercedes and porsche did also)!!!

look here to get some info about my dream car: 👍

I realise there is only one GT-ONE road car, as there is the R390 and CLK-LM.

However there were 25+ road car versions made of the 96/7 911 GT1 and 97 CLK-GTR. AMG even made a roadster version of the CLK-GTR last year!

not last year but....not matter if u don´t know it so exactly!
let´s go back to the real topic: Mc Laren
here are some photos of ur sugga suggs baby (and one of the CLK-GTR roadster!)
...and if u want to check out more about the MB CLK-GTR Roadster, click here: :dopey:

The above is the CLK-LM road car. I believe only one of these road cars was built.

Regarding CLK-GTR roadster, it was made a good few years after the original 25 CLK-GTR roadcars.

I'm pretty sure the 5 or so roadsters were completed in 2002 as speacial orders for some VERY wealthy owners.

Would be good to see them in GT4.

Easy there, GT-One Lover. You may have our fair lady McLaren'sAngel have to come in here with an oxygen tank after having faint so much with the McLaren F1.

Nice to have you on here, GT-One Lover. Having some respect for you here. Glad both of us love the same cars, the McLaren F1 and the Toyota GT-One. The CLK-GTR is pretty sweet too, don't get me wrong.

Anyhow, the main reason why I wanted to come back to this thread was to make an update to this topic. I found my "Road and Track" magazine from December 1997. You don't even need Dr. Watson or Sherlock Holmes to decipher that this is on the McLaren F1. The Americanized McLaren F1 in question was made by a Connecticut company called Ameritech. Remember how I said that the American version looked a little ugly from the British model? What was different about this model to meet American standards was (1) get rid of the two side seats, (2) replace the headlights so that the headlights kind of looked like a 1990s Camaro, and (3) have bumpers of appropriate height. This was a 1997 McLaren, and there isn't a picture online that I know of in which I can compare the original model to the Ameritech McLaren of 1997. I'll look for it in future posts. Anyhow, with this update, if you have more to talk about, bring it on.

I don't think this American Mclaren F1 was an official car. It must have been an American company who imported the car and made the mods for road homologation.

There are a few F1s in the US that are allowed in their original spec as they are considered 'important' vehicles and so allowed into the US without modifications.

....wooow!!..i was just surfing and found this beautiful pics of the f1 GTR running in the JGTC!!! look: :dopey:

...hopefully in GT4 (though it has 500 hp/ps--->JGTC GT500 rules!)

I'm always suprised why McLaren want their car compared unfavourably to Supras, NSXs and Skylines - don't get me wrong, they are all good cars - just not in the same league as the Macca F1?

i'm sorry, i had to wipe the drool off my moniter from looking at all those pretty pictures

McLaren is definately a welcome addition, espessially for Comparison tests (lets see if i can get my Civic to outhandle and out-accelerate the McLaren :D )

what do ya mean unfavorably. unless your referring to the Yellow Corn team which got owned by the supras skylines etc. Many say it had to do with the fact that once you underpower an engine like the F1's, then it really loses its essence, since the engine was made to fit the jgtc 500hp regulations or something.

Many of you arent aware that the Lark McLaren though, won the JGTC series in 1996.(in both first and second places too) Who was one of the drivers behind it? None other than Ralph Schumacher. Heres some pics i promised of the Lark McLaren and the shortail Fina version. All i have to say, is that no car comes close to this masterpiece.
