DevilGTx, vast regions are such that even if you are a millionaire you can't get broadband of any sort, so just stop moaning. Catering for all users (what this forum has always been about) does not in any way restrict your usage of the site, so stop mutterig nonsense. You won't win.

If you want to use your broadband to look at images faster then go to the site's with the pictures, use links ect, don't be an ass and think because you have broadband everyone else should have to suffer. What if thoes people with them 10mb/s+ connections came here and started loading so many images it took your preciouse broadband 20mins to load, and said tough you should have a faster connection. Stop whining and being an ass.

I meant this is MY internet just like it is yours, and everybody elses.
Wherever I go, that is my internet.

Oh really? I'm sure someone else can take over your computer as well when being on the internet. Can't they? 💡

ha-HA!
Just try and take me over!
You'll never take me alive!

I didn't kill my wife...it was the one-armed man!

Look, I don't know who is using dial-up or broadband or a hardline, okay?

"If you want to use your broadband to look at images faster then go to the site's with the pictures"

I do. But the crawlers don't seem to like the load times at those pages, yet they still go there.

You are a weird, fellow, you know that? :odd:

What other car has a 627bhp N/A BMW M-Tech Engine and can hit 241mph with you, your gf, her mother and a packet of biscuits (aka the shopping) with you? The F1 is the best car ever made in a technical, aerodynamic and performance way, sure there are faster "tuned" cars but then again "tuned" is the key word.

Last time I checked the Enzo beat the F1 in everything but the speed testing.

What you have to remember though is the McLarenF1 is about 10 years old and F1 technology has heavily improved since then, if by the Enzo you're talking not top speed then I still think the McLaren F1 LM has the Enzo beat cause it was even faster and more stable but had a lower top speed of only 225mph or something.

IMO with the Enzo you can easily see the F1 influence in it's dart like shape and even the undercarriage design however the McLaren F1 looks more like an everyday roadgoing car which gains it extra points in my book.

Its sad there is only 5 of those McLaren F1 LM's...

I don't think the Enzo's top speed has been determined or verified by anyone yet.
The road version of the McLaren had the fastest top speed (less drag).

The McLaren XP5 hit 241Mph
The standard F1 road car hit around 235Mph
The F1 LM hit 225Mph
I don't know what the F1 GT hit but it's around 228-230Mph
The Enzo is slower than all of thoes in top speed according to Ferrari's figures but to the best of my knowlede the figures are estimates. However the Enzo beats the F1 in everything else including the F1 LM.

The LM has a recorded 0-60 of 2.9/0-100 time of 5.9 the best I've seen from the Enzo is 3.2/6.6 . Also the Enzo has an estimated top speed of 217mph.

I haven't seen any tests of the LM tbh but I knopw the Enzo trounces the F1 on a track and the LM while beng better I wouldn't think was so much better that it would fill the gap between the Enzo and the F1.

I find it funny that you compared a Full-Bred race car againest a Super Car with road restrictions...

From McLaren Cars.com
"In 1995, the McLaren F1 GTR achieved its place in history by winning the Le Mans endurance race at the first attempt. Not only did the F1 GTR finish first, it also occupied 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th places when the flag came down after 24 gruelling hours.

To celebrate this extraordinary feat, McLaren Cars created a limited edition of just five LM's - one for every F1 GTR which finished the race. Whilst the LM is a model in its own right, the concept was that it should be a 1995 F1 GTR, with the minimum modifications to make it usable on the road."

Meaning it's road legal.

And its a race car... And theres only 5 of them.

Its a fully homologated road car, so not a race car.

But since the F1 road car, supercar manufactuers have been more concerned with producing a car that can lap quickly, and be as stable as possible at speed, hence the increased use of aero parts etc. Lets face it, what would you sooner have, a car that can do 240mph and be very difficult to drive, or a car that can 'only' do 220mph but be very stable and easy to use the full performance.

You do know the standard road F1 was never recorded doing 241Mph don't you.

It was under 235Mph, I think it was 232Mph but I'm not 100% sure.

That really doesn't means it legal for use on the road. Just means its usable on the road...Meaning, lifted slightly, modifications to mirrors and the sorts....

I can take a shiny red wagon, push it down a hill on the highway, and it becomes usable on the road, but is it legal?

The F1 LM was a fully homologated road car, i.e. fully legal. Only a small number were built as it was meant for homologating the 1996 race car, and as a celebration of the F1 GTR Le Mans win.

Think of it as an evolution of the regular F1.

Actually some former full house F1 GTR race cars have been converted for road use. One of the 1996 FINA BMW F1 GTRs was owned by Ray Bellm, who won the BPR GT Championship in a Gulf F1 GTR in 1996. It was featured on a Channel 5 program in the UK along with his GT40.

I found a site with car top speeds and 0-60 times.

McLaren F1 - 239.8 mph / 386.0 km/h, 0-60 - 3.20 (0-60 mph)

Ferrari Enzo - 217.5 mph / 350.0 km/h, 0-60 - 3.30 (0-60 mph)

You can find the full lists Here

and Here

I assume that the times are genuine. I think it's a very good site. Lots of good pictures. :)

I always heard 231mph for the McLaren F1, but what difference does it really make? I think most people would agree it's fast enough, there's rarely circuits you can reach that speed anyway.

I've heard of 240 mph when I first heard of it, Eagle. For a moment, this thread had been a bash fest on it, but for sure, the McLaren F1 is can't miss. And if enthusiasm for such a car compares to McLaren'sAngel's very first post here, then to put it in the game is pure sweetness. I like this car because it has killer speed, while being incredibly controllable. It is a Formula One race car with the heart of a powerful BMW V12. Do any racing modifications and it can win almost any circuit race. It's no drag racer even though it can do 0 to 60 in 3.2 or 3.4 seconds to a top speed of 240 mph. And remember. Road race cars don't make great drag cars. It can compete on a worldwide scale- and it has already done. You may not see it raced much anymore, but I'd love to see it re-engineered and rethought to continue to be the best car in the world, but it needs to edge out the Ferrari Enzo so that no one forgets the McLaren F1.

When the JGTC comes to Fontana in middle December, we may see the Yellow Corn team in action there with its F1. And for you Californian folk (who I envy because of all the good weather you get (78 Farenheit with sunny skies in the summer)), you will get your fill of JGTC action. McLaren lovers will probably see the downtuned F1 go around and around. So I'd invite the F1 with an invitation. "Hey McLaren F1! Party with PD! Plenty of refreshments, great music, pretty girls, and photo shoots and such to get into GT4 and whet the palates of PS2 gamers and racing fans alike. Accept the invitation. You will not be disappointed.

And since its showing in pictures, disappointed is the LAST thing anyone should feel about it.

If i remember rightly, the 241mph top speed was in the lower powered prototype' XP5' at Nardo in Italy, I don't think anyone else has tried a full production F1 there, but i expect the top speed for the production F1 to be nearer 250mph.

Want to push for 260 there, TheCracker? :) Hey! If I can do it in GT2 at Test Course, why not the McLaren F1?
