Has BMW not gotten the message that SUVs aren't cool anymore? I mean, I don't find it particularly ugly...but I do find it particularly pointless.
Hey! The Santa Fe's a very good looking car!
That is, compared to this X1, I've never understood the purpose of the X-line. It's as if BMW is doing the same as Toyota, just creating tings to have a large line-up...
I don't want to go off-topic, but I hated the first FX, and I despise the new version. Bloated, fugly-detailed, badly-proportioned tubs of lard. I haven't seen anything that pointlessly huge outside and that surprisingly small inside in quite some time. They're hideous.
Erm, you must surely be talking about the previous FX. The current one is a dog (a pug to be exact).
The X-series is and always has been a throwaway. As we all know, it began as an SUV cash cow a la the Cayenne, but with all of the fuss over gas prices and fuel mileage, that couldn't last. So BMW followed the popular trend and turned it into a crossover cash cow, and because "ugly" is part of the definition of "crossover," they're using it as an outlet for their designers to unleash their wildest concoctions. That's all.
Believe me, I think this thing is stupid and ugly too, but it has nothing to do with us enthusiasts. That's what BMW's traditional model range is for. Make fun of it all you want, but complaining about this car is akin to complaining that the villain of a movie is mean.![]()

Is it me or do I see something similar here........![]()
The one time I attended a BMW meet in my area, there was an older guy who showed up in a nice 318is, and he seemed pretty cool, but at one point he told us about his new X3. You could sense the discomfort in the air as we all respectfully kept our mouths shut.Well said. Short of someone giving me the money and putting a gun to my head, I can't see any situation in which I'd think "I know, I'll go and buy a BMW Xx".
Yup, that's the sort of attitude I've held since the Cayenne was announced. Just more money to drop into M GmbH's budget.Still, if it allows BMW to continue to function as a company that builds cars like the M3, that's all fine by me.
Not to worry. I just put out a hit out on Bangle. That looks horrible!
