This rocks! But as usual with Kojima's upcoming stuff, it brings tons of questions.
For example, I don't get how Raiden looks like it would be after MGS4 and Big Boss looks like it would be shortly after MGS3. Will it contain both the past and the future perhaps?

It's Big Boss. Who else could it be? And that logo on his beret reads 'militares sans frontieres', or 'militaries without borders'. Outer Heaven, anyone? .
Don't worry about time paradoxes. When MGS3 was announced, people couldn't understand how Solid Snake could appear in the 1960's. It turns out it's wasn't Solid, but Naked Snake aka... Big Boss. Hell, people were confusing Para-Medic with Meryl.
How could Raiden appear in the same time as a middle-aged Big Boss?
It's not Raiden...
Mr. Kojima has already fooled us once with someone appearing to be Raiden this year at GDC.
YES! Metal Gear Raiden: Snake Eraser Revenge Ac!d Time Traveling Terminator Rain Countdown Edition EX Turbo HD REMIX (MGR: SERATTTRCEETHR) for the Xbox 220 non Blu Ray version with over 20 DVDs plus waggle confirmed!
It's very definately another METAL GEAR game, as the timer hasbeen repalced with a second one that should expire some time around Monday; no prizes for guessing it will coincide with Sony's press conference at E3.
I'm actually quite surprised no-one has posted this yet considering that this is taken from the site:
You may want to check that link (or your glasses ) again then... as it is a link to post #47 (you don't even have to click on it, as it even shows the post count in the link address)... which was just 7 posts before yours and only a couple hours before yours.
Regardless, Kojima sure loves messing with people's heads.
His pacing is pretty poor, too: the main events of the first episode of LOST - the plane crash - weren't explained until the third-season finale (and it was pretty damn obvious what had happened by that stage to everyone except the characters).
You know, I hadn't even thought of this. Show one clear image of a cyborg ninja and everyone assumes it is Raiden, but he was not the original cyborg ninja, he was just eth first one we got to see with high-quality graphics.
Have you played MGS4 yet? I know you kept saying that you intend to.
Anyway, I will find it equally funny and frustrating if this turns out to have nothing at all to do with the Metal Gear series. At this point my mind is coming up with so many possibilities of where this could be going that I am no closer to knowing anything than I was before all this started.
It's Ninja Raidenovitch Raikov! (how much do I wish I had that "surprise jingle" from MGS3 now?)
nah, in seriousness, my guess would be Null/Yeager, and the setting after PO, but possibly before MG1, unless we play BB's side of the story against Snake in Outer Heaven. With a deeper knowledge of why he did hat he did from MGS3, PO and MGS4, the later would make for an epic storyline, but not much sneaking I guess.
hmmm a possible remake of the original game? that would be tight. just glad to see there not doing something stupid like bringing solid back for one more one last run.
This wouldn't be the first time he has gone back on that. I read somewhere, in a lead up to MGS4, that he starts out not intending to do it, but between fans wanting it and then him seeing what the early development looks like he can't stay out of it.
I think it is a combination of respect for his fans and the inability to watch his baby get messed up.

Like PinBall of the dead? Though I am wondering if it could be a CG movie. Though a sequel doesn't mean it has to be in gaming format right? and if Hideo wanted MGS on the Xbox360, why couldn't it be a movie? What sources do we have that confirms its actually a game?
The new screen is up and running. This time with even more rain and larger lightning. The grass and the trees are different. Raiden now flashes along with BB and with new numbers/letters, too. Here's what we got so far.
S/5PEC3 6RO/0(Snake Symbol)
As you can see, the C and the O/0 is new. We can now spell "SPEC OPS" if you haven't noticed.
Raiden's eyes are blue. That's not Raiden, obviously. I should have put Raiden in quotes. A lot of people think that's Raiden, but I don't. It appears to be a woman. Sunny perhaps, but that's a HUGE stretch. BTW, Sunny's eyes were bright hazel, like in the pic above.
Since Sunny is a huge stretch, it could be one of the Beauty and Beast girls. The blond, Laughing Octopus, had hazel eyes, too. BTW, Frank Yaegar (Null, Cyborg Ninja, Deepthroat, etc.) has brown eyes, so it cannot be him.
It can't be Sunny. She was, what, eight at the time of GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS? Big Boss died before she could get to the age where she'd be able to become the ninja. Laughing Octopus' death rules her out as well, though we do know the dead can be revived via the process of creating a ninja, as was the case with Gray Fox. Olga Gurlukovich is another possibility; she's aready a ninja, but the presence of Big Boss makes that another stretch since she was killed before he was awoken from his comatose state. Again, she could be reanimated, but the picture of Big Boss on the website is vastly different to his appearance at the end of GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS. I'm still thinking that this is going to be set some time in the late eighties or early nineties, when the concept of Outer Heaven was still going strong.

That's what I am thinking too. After MGS4 there is a good setup to create a Big Boss game that leads up to Outer Heaven, only now we would be sympathetic because we understand.

Kojima has already said the new MGS game will take place in two different eras. People have speculated the game will take place 7 to 9 years after MGS4. That would make Sunny a grown woman.
Do I really think she would choose to become a Cyborg Ninja? No. But what if she had no choice?
Laughing Octopus' death rules her out as well, though we do know the dead can be revived via the process of creating a ninja, as was the case with Gray Fox.
I doubt any of the 'Beauty and Beasts' would ever come back myself, but it's what others have claimed who it could be. I mentioned her for that reason alone.

Could be Olga, but I doubt that, too. The eyes don't match. Plus, I don't think Kojima want to bring back anybody else from the dead. BB in MGS4 was a little too hard to take for a lot of MGS fans.
Some claim it's a Snatcher from Kojima's other game series. So, it could be a 'clone' or a 'snatched' body of Raiden. You just never know with Kojima, but I doubt that, too.
Who could it be if it's not Raiden, Sunny, Olga, LO or anybody else in the MGS series? Somebody new. A little too simple, but it works.
And that is part of the process, or at least it can be. They can change out their eyes when then become cyborg ninjas. However, Raiden has NEVER had a different eye color. It has ALWAYS been light blue. At the end of MGS4, we see the end of 'Cyborg Ninja' Raiden. He said he was finished leaving Rose for war. I believed him. He's not coming back as a ninja.
