It will be interesting to see how this game is going to turn out on the 360 and how long it will take for it to get released. One thing is for sure, if it's going to be close to the same size as MGS4, it'll be on multiple dics, or require one huge download file.

Popping in a disc is just as bad as waiting for the game to install between each act. A bit of a non-issue, to be honest.

Well, now we know. I guess this thread can either get flushed or moved. I guess we can wait to see if the new MGS game really is a MS exclusive, or not. I haven't read anything yet. If it is, the mods can close this one up.

Bad move by Kojima IMO

Not talking about taking Microsoft's money to develop the game for their system, but I'm talking about having Raiden as the main character. Wasn't the backlash in MGS2 enough to let him know we want snake as the main character?

So kojima thinks he can give Raiden some cyborg powers and looks and everything is good now...well not to me

I was hoping any new MGS games would be remakes of SNES games or more prequels of metal gear solid but i guess not.

I'll pass on this one

I doubt it'll be an exclusive, and if it is it'll be a timed exclusive, as I *think* the PS3 still holds a much greater market share in Japan, and seeing as Kojima has stated that it's aimed more towards the Japanese I doubt he'd want to exclude pretty much the entire current MGS fanbase. We'll wait and see though.

As for another Raiden game, I'm hoping for some fast paced Zone Of Enders style gameplay mixed in with MGS's stealth. Raiden as a character hasn't really annoyed me much as others do, so it's all good.

Snake is my favourite of corse, but i love Raiden had lots of fun with him and i like his said story too:tup:!

Xbox exclusive!? That's a damn shame! Screw Hideo... 👎

Exclusive? Says who? Not even Microsoft let alone Kojima.

I didn't hear anything concrete.

Sounds concrete to me... Thanks for the details, DN. 👍

I guess I can keep this thread and change the title.

MGS: Rising ≠ MGS4.

Not even the fanboiz are taking the bait on that. Since 'Solid' is in the title, I assume Solid Snake is in the game.

I'm glad I slept in. Seems like Microsoft's press conference was a bore. Haloz, Left 4 Dead, Alan Wake... DUH.

So what if Raiden is the main character? Sons of Liberty still sold, didn't it? :odd:

Personally, I welcome it because I went through 4 expecting to play as Raiden with the exoskeleton and was disappointed to not have, I think you could online but I rarely go online...so that was a lose-lose.

If it's 360-exclusive, then it's 360-exclusive. Just don't buy it.

End of story.

It was. Odd. I guess nobody was believing what they saw. It's below to view, if you want. Pretty boring, indeed.

Yeah, it's pretty short. I don't like that the link I waited so long to view is already gone. I get nothing but a stupid website not related to MGS anything! Lame.

Seems pretty Xbox exclusive to me... 👎

It's not. I don't think MS would have missed the opportunity to say it at the press announcement, like DN suggested.

Who? where? :dunce:

Here's what I found on YT...

Tnx Solid Lifters! The Kojimas website didnt work for me! Really hope its going to a PS3 game has you guys say... or Metal gear will lose a few millions of fans, thats for sure, and im one of them!

EDIT: by the way what a stupid trailer... "Raidens back!".... everybodys know that by now...

Except for every one they have lost they have added more than five in it's place.

Which 5 games? If these are PSN games then they don't really count but even if they are proper PS3 titles its just not the same loosing a quality franchise which is synonymous with a specific platform for many many years.

No number of other PS3 exclusives can make up for losses this big, it was the same when Final Fantasy moved over. Its not about numbers its about value of that game or franchise. For example, no number of PS3 exclusives could make up for the loss of Gran Turismo to MS.

Robin.

Has Kojima gone mad? Metal Gear Solid games are a symbol of Playstation and are near perfect. Making an MGS game for the xbox 360 would ruin it for all of us because they would have to dumb the game down and make it appeal to 9 year old kids who can't afford a PS3 and spend all their time on something sad like "Bebo" or "Spacebook".

Metal Gear hasn't always been on Playstation...

I find it humorous that the fanboiz are changing their stories already. Look! It's MGS4... MGS... uh... Metal Gear.... uh Raiden on 360!! !1

Agree, he has definitely gone mad... I don't get it either... 👎

No, not Metal Gear, but Metal Gear Solid has always been released on Playstation only or at least before other platforms.

from the look of the website there is ALOT more to come out of kojima this week. im expecting probably 2 more game notices. as you can see on the next site theres alot of open room next to the raiden game. plus we saw pictures of BIG BOSS on the teaser page before. i wouldnt be surprised if we see a Big Boss game on PS3 (which for me would be better seeing as i never really did like raiden to much. to much flash and not enough bad assness). plus we still need to figure out what the MASk page repersents. tomorrow should be another big day for kojima. and i wouldnt be surprised if raiden was multiplatform because XBOX always puts there ONLY ON XBOX360 tag on anything thats theres. i didnt see that there so i wouldnt be surprised if it was multiconsole. but im really hoping for a big boss game tomorrow instead of a raiden multi console game.

These responses are just generally full of wow.

"OMG I can't believe MGS is on the Xbox 360."

I don't know Kojima's reasons for the port, and unless he's going to tell them, I don't need to know; what I do know it's an MGS game and I'll be able to play it whether my PS3 or 360 is connected to my telly.

I wonder if MGS: Rising is just a card battle strategy game?

I guess I can keep this thread and change the title.

Maybe we should merge the two threads:

If you checked that link you would see. Sony has more new exclusive "proper titles" as you say, than anyone else.

Many would argue that franchises get stale, and the real value is creating new original IPs to grow even bigger franchises.... after all, MGS, GT, and many others were "new" at one point as well.

Not only that, but the jury is still out whether or not it really does hurt the PS3, and PS3 users just because the 360 will get a version of FFXIII, let alone a new MGS game that no one knows anything about yet.

Agreed! It's like FFXIII all over again. If the game is great on the platform of your choice, who cares that it's available on other platforms. In fact, between a long running franchise and a brand new innovative and original IP, I'd find the brand new innovative and original IP far more interesting and valuable to a platform than whether or not an old franchise releases a multi-platform game.

No, there was MGS2: Sons of Liberty Substance game, I believe.

Nah. I think if belongs here in the 'General Gaming' area. I don't see a problem having them both. It appears your thread can talk mostly about the MS deal and what it means to PS3 fans, while my thread is for both MS and Sony fans.

EDIT: New MGS Rising link added to first post! Not much there, but it's available.

Kojima hasn't gone mad, he just took Microsoft's money.

I, and I'm sure you would too

To me, the change from Tactical Esionage Action to "Lightning Bolt Action" represents a paradigm shift. Could it be that MGS:R will be an action title as opposed to a stealth 'em up?

It did say sneak in. But think about Raiden in MGS4. He was a ninja in every way. One second Snake is staring down 20 Geckos, then suddenly there is Raiden, openly taking them all down. He sneaks in, and then takes out the threat in the open, with no need to hide.

I imagine you will have to get past security, but then get inside and go to town with your ballet shoes and katana.

But does that make it a true MGS game? I recall way back wen SONS OF LIBERTY was being demo-ed at E3 and the Australian PlayStation Magazine were interviewing Kojima-san. One of the questions they asked him was how he saw other stealth-based games, and he clearly said that he saw his reation as being in its own sub-genre because where the other games involved using stealth to kill people, his was simply using stealth so that the player could get by. How many times have you played an MGS game and found yourself out of bullets - or worse, out of rations - and had to rely on your wits to get through unscathed until you could get more ammo or health pick-ups? A game that focuses on Raiden won't be like that because you'll always have the high-frequency blade and given the cybernetic suit, you'll always be far more dexterous than your enemies. While I'll never play it since it's going to XBox - all I have is a PS2 and no money or interest in investing in another console because I don't play nearly enough to justify it - that doesn't stop me from thinking the soul of the game will vanish in favour of simply leaping around and ending whatever gets in your way. Mind you, maybe it's been deliberately designed like that given the way games like HALO and GEARS OF WAR are generally played. I still remember seeing a hilarious video of HALO players getting onto SPLINTER CELL and playing it just like Master Chief, standing in doorways to reload, going out to mark their kills an charging everyone with shotguns ... only to find they were getting picked off like the ducks in those shooting games at the fair.
