MGS Zero - Snake, The Early Years

I've downloaded the Metal Gear Database, but it can't find my completion data. I have the EPILOGUE:THE END save which you load up to start a new game. I've saved in new slots whenever it has asked me to.

Is there another save I missed out on? It's very annoying you can't unlock the other information otherwise.

Edit: Oh, do I have to wait for the Euro release before it'll work?

They should do a remake of the first 2 Metal Gears. I bet not many people played those.

there was already a remake of mgs1 on the GC, and bot games were hugely popular anyways, I just want to see MGS1 come up on the ps store

Yes, the various versions of the database are region locked to the completion save, so until someone is kind enough to load up a US save (not sure if a game save or a MGS4 data save is required) we will have to wait for the EU release of the database.

I am hoping for a Virtual Console release on the Wii or some sort of release.

I think they were supposed to be included on the Limited Edition version of the MGS: Essentials Collection only sold in Japan because it had the second disc that went in MGS3: Subsistence

I already own it from the Essentials Collection, but having it on my PSP would be awesome.

It is out in Japan, I believe and is rumored to be coming to the US. I was expecting it to coincide with MGS4.

And before someone hints at Homebrew for the PSP, it can't be done because it is on two discs and you change discs between saves, which means that you would have to lose your progress on to the second disc area and so when you tried to load the second disc file it would ask you to put in the first disc. As far as I know it will be the only PS1 Classic that needs some slight reprogramming to work.

go on bestbuys site, mgs essentials is available for 30 bucks, i believe it has mgs 1 2 and 3 and possibly the very furst 2. Btw 2 and 3 are substance and subsistence, respectively

I own the Essentials Collection, and no it does not. They were contained on the second disc of Subsistence, which is not included in this set.

You have to keep shooting the puppets until they fall off. Pick them up, and you should be able to use them against her.

If you find hitting them to be tricky you can do what I did - use the M60 - that way you can rely on sheer volume of bullets to do the job for you. It worked for me and bagged me both puppets.

OK cheers thanks to you guys I've bagged both puppets . I know you have to fire off the puppets at her and then press L1 and shake the controller after a direct hit. Nothing happens so I must be doing it wrong.:dunce: Any clues?

Speaking recently, Ryan Payton revealed that Metal Gear Solid 5 could be a prequel. Payton mentioned there is still a lot of room for filling gaps as far as the boss is concerned, but MGS 4 is really the final chapter in the Solid Snake story that's all.

To quote: When Metal Gear Solid 3 was announced as a prequel to Solid Snake's adventures, many fans of the series expressed disappointment that the main narrative would not be continued or completed in that game. Now with Metal Gear Solid 4 tightly wrapping up all the loose ends of the saga, prequels may be the only way for Konami to continue fleshing out that same epic narrative.

Speaking in an interview with 1UP a week before the game's release, MGS4 assistant producer Ryan Payton said there is "still a lot of room for filling in the gaps as far as Big Boss is concerned." When asked about the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 5, Payton responded, "There are some misunderstandings that this is the final Metal Gear game. But it's really the final chapter of the Solid Snake story. That's all."

"I'm happy we could wrap up Snake's story in MGS4," Payton stated earlier in the interview, continuing, "because it gets to the point where if we continue on with Metal Gear Solid 5 with more Solid Snake adventures, we'll get to the point where the game has absolutely no basis in reality. I do like the idea that this character has had four or five big missions and then that's when it ended, rather than have 20 missions where there's no chance in hell a secret agent could ever survive. He's had four or five really big missions, and that seems a little more realistic to me."

That should have really had spoiler tags on it (I've added them for you), th eonly suggestion I can give is...

Shake harder, and the Psycho Mantis doll work most effectively

On an unrelated note, the best of my first photos, I didn't really use the camera on my first run through, but on the second time through (as I am taking more time now - first run was for the story - this is more to look around).

There's two puppets, only one of them works. You need to equip the Physco mantis puppet and shoot her with that, the Sorrow puppet does notihng. I don't know if you need to take both off her first though, I did and shot her with the Mantis puppet.

So far I've unlocked the following:

Stealth Camo
Bandanna
Solar Gun
Race Gun
Altari Outfit
L. Beauty Mask
R. Beauty Mas.
C. Beauty Mask
S. Beauty Mask
Raiden Mask A
Drebin Mask
Otacon Mask
Young Snake Mask
Y. Snake w/ Bandanna Mask

To the best of my knowledge, I'm missing two masks, but I don't think I'm missing anything else...still, I've got a lot of music to unlock!

Edit: Just checked, there is a LOT of stuff I have left to unlock. I'm extremely glad about that, btw :)

Scaff - Sorry, my mistake about not adding the Spoiler tags :dunce:
Dave A and others - Thanks for your help 👍👍

I saw the box today for this..... do they all come with that cardboard sleeve or is there something special about those ones?

Robin

no problem nige 👍.

All the ones I saw had the cardbord sleeves on them including mine, and there's nothing special about that beyond it being an awesome game.

I think ive said this before but I want to get this game because its technically amazing but I have never played any other MGS and dont really intend on buying them just to play them through, I could possibly borrow MGS3 of a mate but is there a way just to enjoy 4 as it is?

Robin

Yes, it would probably help a lot to read some of the back story as some of the plot could go well over your head. But it's very good on it's game play too.

Watch the Metal Gear Retrospective at Gametrailers. It is very informative and I learned about things I did not know about Metal Gear. I'd stay away from part six though if you haven't completed MGS4 yet.
