Cheers for the info SL 👍 I will be grabbing this lot for sure ... Thanks!

Metal Gear Database coming to PSN store tomorrow.

The MGS4 Database is a free, downloadable interactive application that contains the official knowledge base of everything that is Metal Gear, reaching all the way back to the very beginning of the franchise. Including complete storylines, character profiles, relationship diagrams, and much more! The MGS4 database is a great way to catch up for someone new to Metal Gear, as well as a useful resource for any veteran of the series, with complete official details on every aspect of the intricate Metal gear lore.
The MGS4 Database also contains a special feature – if you want to make use of the database, but have not yet fully played through MGS4 yet and are worried about spoilers – all MGS4 spoilers are “blacked out” until you’ve beaten MGS4. Give it a try!

Well I've finished all the Acts now and just have the epilogue to watch (need to put aside 90 minutes for that - so most likely tomorrow night), but I have to say that I loved the rest of it.

Simply one of the best games I have ever played.....

But am I alone in being just a bit disappointed with the final battle with Liquid, or me it was actually one of the weakest of all the boss battles. Certainly not enough to spoil the whole game, but still a bit of a let down, particularly as the Screaming mantis battle was great, nice reminders of Psycho Mantis. Still maybe the epilogue will lift it back up again, after all its not as if we have had to wait long to get all the answers.

My favourite act was 4, by a big margin, going back to shadow moses was excellent and I just hope that we get MGS on the store soon - as that act just made me want to play it all over again.

...now to see if I can get through it again before Bad Company comes out next week, with maybe a bit of the multi-player thrown in as well.

Regards

Scaff

I liked Acts 1 & 2 better because you didn't have to be as stealthy. Act 4 was sort of spoiled for me, because I found the dwarf gekkos to be pretty annoying. But it was pretty cool. On the bosses side, I think MGS3 had the better bosses. I didn't really mind, but the Metal Gear and last fight were a little too easy.

That Metal Gear Database sounds badass.

My god. An amazing story. An amazing game. I loved every bit of it.

I liked the last boss fight, the cinematography was superb. And the epilogue was very very interesting as well-really answered most questions I still had. Man, so many plot twists. Just an amazing story all together.

Finally off for 2 days straight. Is it possible to beat the game in two days?

Well my final time was 23 hours and 7 minutes. And this was my first MGS game, so Im sure its possible.

^ Nice Tar Noah

Welp... I caved, I looked at the weapons section of the guide. OMFG! FINALLY! A Pistol with a scope!!! :dopey:

Going for the Altair outfit right now, and a few other emblems (150 headshots). Just collecting Chaff for my BB run.

Act 4 was epic!

Kojima's next project should be...

Metal Gear: Super Robot Fighting!

Act 5 is giving me a headache. I wish I could just shoot my way out. It's not like Snake has anything to lose. The 7.62mm guns kill gooder. :)

The Extremely Limited Edition UK MGS4 Watch

Pretty ugly watch IMO, and for £99 there are nicer watches out there. Would fetch quite a bit on eBay though.

Finishing this game really makes me want to play MGS. There were so many great moments in that game.

Wow I'd just buy that to keep it forever... Shame I couldn't really wear it though since it would be worth more unused.

Yes, I'm a sucker for watches...

I want to get 2 of these watches, One to save up never open. One to wear for occasions.

Wow, just wow... Everytime I turn this game on it's ALWAYS EPIC. geez. Yeah... I'm just starting on Act 3 I'm slow/not that much time to play :indiff:

I must be rated as a mass murder by now. I have taken to a suppresed sniper that is bought early on or unlocked br stealing one from a PMC. The first sniper I don't know the name, takes 7.??mm rounds, automatic fire and a clip size of around 20. I have started using this as my general weapon rather than the M4 because its pretty much gaurenteed 1shot kill with a head shot. with the laser also it can be fired effectively at medium to close range just in case you get spotted and want to take an opponent quickly and quietly before and alert is raised. So there you have it my general multi-pupose weapon is a sniper rifle. :dunce: Of course if it wasn't suppresed or Automatic it would be no good as a general purpose rifle.

This got me to thinking, what is everyones Gerneal purpose weapon (I know its tactical to switch between different weapons for different sections of a mission but which is used the most).

for me its the M4 with a scope and the shotgun attached, sometimes with a silencer

MK2 and and Mosin Nagant only.
Yeah, that's me currently. Well, I haven't bought that Mosin yet, but I've seen it in action (awesome!).

Anyone here downloaded the MGS4 Database yet. You can find a lot of stuff in there:tup:

Yeah, I downloaded it off the Japanese store yesterday, and I just re-downloaded it about an hour ago from the US store. It's really awesome. Can't wait for them to add more MGS4 extra songs and OctoCamo patterns though

The M14EBR?

I also fell in love with this rifle. It has almost everything you would want. A suppressor, scope, fast reload, and the 7.62mm round. It was great in the beginning when you only had the M4 and AK-102 as rifles and it was my first with a scope. I also like the Mk.17 (SCAR-H) because it's what the PMC's drop when I kill them, plus I'm familiar with it from GRAW2.

My two favorite rifles. 👍

I'm currently using the XM25 and the Tanegashima Rifle. The .50 cal, too.

I'm having a lot of fun with the XM25. You can program the grenade to detonate sooner or later depending where the group of enemies are mostly.

For example, and group of soldiers are in front of you. The lead soldier is 57 meters away, and the follow soldier is 72 meters away. Aim for 72 and use the directional button to explode the grenade at 65 meters above them. Takes them all out.

The Tanegashima Rifle, and all your extra DP, makes the Bandanna absolutely useless. I don't bother equipping it anymore.

Slightly off-topic, but I was playing Oregon Trail and I named the people after MGS characters. I took a screen of when Sunny got the measles, and decided to tweak a few things while I was at it:

MGS4 boosts PS3 sales in Japan

Guns of the Patriots shoots to the number one spot in the land of the rising sun, shifts just under 500,000 in its first week on sale.

It wasn't quite a million sold on day one, but Konami must still be quite pleased with last week's sales figures in Japan for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

After going on sale in the country on June 12, the game debuted at the top of the software charts for the week of June 9-15. So far, 464,926 copies of MGS4 have been sold, meaning that it's almost halfway to Konami's milestone.

Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid 4, a PlayStation 3 exclusive, also boosted sales of the console itself. They were up from 10,856 the week before by almost seven times to 75,311.

Two special editions of Metal Gear Solid were released in Japan--the MGS4 Premium Pack, and the PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid 4 Welcome Box. The Premium Pack includes the "very" limited edition gunmetal PS3 along with the game, and retails at ¥51,800 ($481). The PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid 4 Welcome Box is simply the game plus a dual shock controller in ceramic white, black, or satin silver and retails at ¥63,800 ($593).

The second-best-selling console of the week ending June 15 was the PlayStation Portable, still buoyed by Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G sales (released on March 27, and currently number five in the chart), which clocked in 64,675 units. The Wii was next with 45,564, followed by the DS Lite with 39,201, the PlayStation 2 with 7,297, and the Xbox 360 with 2,163.
