I got lucky and spotted the first one as it 'woke', hit the dirt/snow and managed to sneak past that one and the other sleeping one. It did however make me jump when I realised it was a Gekko. - Bloody things.

, thats how i felt. Good thing i only got one. I have an question
After i defeated the beasts the women came out of it and i tranq'ed them. Is that an good thing to do or can i kill them? And in Act 5 where u get to meet Pschysic Mantis, that bit was hilarious.

If you tranquilize them, you get their facecamo.
Damn, I gave up on Extreme after the beginning of Act 1!Wow, my friend just told me he beat the game on Extreme under 5 hours (4 hours 3 minutes), with no Alerts and Kills.![]()
Why are the Gekkos so horrible. It takes ages to defeat them
The M72A3 rocket launcher can take them down with one shot if you hit them in the head.
Its the only one i used but according to the guide book its the weakest, but only just. It's got an 'A' rating instead of the maximum 'S' for damage. Every other launcher is rated 'S' for damage and shock. I'd assume they could all bring down a gekko with one head shot.
Honestly, i have no idea where the head is. I shoot them in the legs to bring those suckers down and then i shoot on their radar or something.
I'm on Act 5 aswell, but I cannot seem toshoot down the doll's from the last b&b
I thought the rail gun would be good for killing them but it's really hit or miss... I had to get more ammo... maybe I just can't aim.
I'm a bit peeved about Naomi killing herself along with everything changing after that EPICNESS part where Liquid became 1337 over everyone. To finish it all of the beginning of Act 5 is just [censored] irritating, how the [censored] are you suppose to be steathy/silent!? Even after reading the strategy guide it's not helping. Oh btw, the catapult to get on Liquid's Ship... Really? there wasn't a better way to do that? lmao
edit: Fighting Vamp was a little irritating too... and I decided to consult the strategy guide AFTER depleting all my weapons and ammo.![]()

Hilarious MGS4 review video... WARNING! Language http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/99-Metal-Gear-Solid-4
The rail gun takes Gekko's down in 1 shot, but you have to let it fully charge up first. There's a bar underneat the guns icon in the bottom right of the screen that fills while you hold onto the shoot button, let it fill all the way, aim for the head and release. They go down in one.

The cutscenes don't overly annoy me by their lenth and dialogue, though I agree they could have been trimmed. The plot itself is fantastic and the twists and final bow of the know being tied up at the end all work with the story from the other MGS games.
At that point I was thinking more along the lines of "die already, how many times do you have to switch sides"
