Mid-Field Raceway Lap Times For 716 Cars!

Yeah, but the F40's damn near undrivable (for reasons that come down to more than torque), as the recent seasonal has shown. :)

Speaking of undrivable cars, feel free to take a crack at the 1986 RUF BTR. :)
The trick with the F40 is you can't make it ridiculously stiff otherwise you get tonnes of oversteer

I'll test the F40 and RUF BTR tomorrow.

Tested the Scion xA and xB and the xA is 1.5 seconds faster.

Same horsepower, same torque, but the xB weighs 50 kg more than the xA.

Also tested the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS '03. I do not like this car, but I don't know why.

Cadillac CTS-V Coupe '11 is as quick as the BMW M3 Coupe '07.

Both of these are sublime stock with comfort medium. The BTR becomes nasty with sport level.

The Ferrari F40 is definitely a 1:17 car but it requires a gift from God to achieve that time with a DS3.

Best I can do is a 1:18.1

Still, a fantastic time for a 23 year old street car. It's only 3 tenths behind Ferrari's own F430 '06, though with a better driver, the F40 may actually be slightly faster than that car.

BMW M5 '08 is a 1:19.5 or as quick as the Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10 and 2 seconds faster than the M3 '07.

Can we say "best saloon ever made?"

Agreed to all the above.

F40 still has great ability in circuit since it was just a racing car transformed into a street legal one. And M5 is a great 4 door sedan especially having the F1 tech V10 in it.

And to think that in 1986 its tires were closer to CH than to CM. By that time it was a nightmare to drive it quickly, not to mention in wet roads... :nervous:

It's been a while since I tested it, but I got a 2:18.742 with the F40 at the Nürburgring GP/F (using the DS3, not my G27), compared to a 2:15.673 in the F430 and, more tellingly, a 2:16.727 in the 288 GTO. I thought it was awful then and the F40 seasonal reinforced that... though I've heard some people suggest that the F40 seemed worse than usual at that seasonal, for some reason. I might need to re-test the car now that I've got a G27 and I'm more experienced with it. Could help. (It didn't seem to be helping my McLaren F1 times, though. :))
RUF BTR '86 is a 1:20 car. If anyone can do 1:19 they must have the reflexes of a cat.
 I got a 2:34.542 when I tested it. I was happy just to successfully make it around the track and get a valid lap time. And that's SH tires. Absolutely nightmare of a car.

While tires in the '80s weren't what they were today, I still don't believe the real F40 is as horrible as the GT6 model of it would suggest, as some people were saying over the F40's seasonal thread. I could be wrong, though—the fastest car I've ever driven was a few C5 Corvettes.

SRT Viper GTS '02 is a 1:19.4 tied with the Ferrari California and Shelby GT500.

SRT Viper SRT10 '03 is a 1:18.4

I've always loved the Viper. It's my favorite American car. Not sure why PD included the '99 and '02 but not the original '96 GTS or '92 RT/10...

Especially for F40, there are some faults in GT6's car. Especially the weight of it is too far from real life's 1100 kgs. Only that gives over a sec in laptimes. And now with easy weight decreasing mods on-off ability in settings, anyone can test that. And then, it is faster than F430 or GTR ' 07 for sure...

Tested:

Hyundai Tiburon Turbulence '99
Nissan March 12SR '07
Toyota Prius G (J) '02
Isuzu 4200R '89
Audi S4 '98
Audi TTS Coupe '09
BMW Z4 M Coupe '08
BMW M Coupe '98

The Nissan March is an interesting car. 108 hp and 100 ft-lbs from 1,240 cc. It's two seconds quicker than the Scion xA.

The M Coupe '08 is 4 seconds quicker than the '98. Both are great cars. I much prefer the E36's I-6 engine over the E46 and E92 V8s.

The newest Audi TT featured in the game is over 4 seconds quicker than the oldest.

Audi S4 '98 is 2 seconds slower than Audi S4 '03.

I heard the 1100 kg's is the dry weight, while the GT6 weight is the curb weight, but I'm not sure.
In GT6 they have F40 as an 1300+ car which isn't nearly close to reality. True weight of it with driver and some fuel in it should be close to or just under 1200 kgs.

True. Hopefully it'll be fixed in GT7, but I'm not holding my breath...

Final car of today, Triumph Spitfire 1500 '74 ties with the Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92.

I had a great time with this car. Drove it for a consecutive 5 laps, each lap was a little faster. Couldn't quite get 1:42

Spitfire and Elan are the ancestors of Miata, so they are indeed fun producing machines.

And for F40, you just need to do a stage 1 weight reduction in order to be too close to EU-spec weight.

Tested:

1:24.370 - Audi RS 4 '01
1:24.682 - Audi RS 6 '02

Very close lap times, about 3 tenths of a second.

RS4
2.7L
378 hp / 6,500 rpm
325 ft-lb / 2,500 rpm
1,620 kg (3,571 lbs)
472 pp

RS6
4.2L
446 hp / 6,000 rpm
413 ft-lb / 2,000 rpm
1,840 kg (4,057 lbs)
488 pp

The RS4 weighs about 500 lbs less than the RS6, giving it a major advantage in the turns.

I suppose the RS 6 Avant '02 would've been a more fair comparison. That car weighs 40 kg more than the regular RS 6.

And in case you're wondering, the RS 6 Avant '08 premium is a 1:21 car.

Speaking of the Legacy Blitzen, I just tested it, and it was one of the hardest cars I've tried to get from a x:xx.0 to a x:xx.9

It's a 1:26 car. Half a second slower than the original WRX STi '94.

Honda Accord Coupe EX '03 is as fast as the BMW Z4 '03

Mitsubishi Eclipse GT '06 is about half a second quicker than them!

So mad right now. After 6 laps in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 '65, the best I can do is 1:35.0

I got 1:35.0 a total of three laps in a row. I'm giving up. If anyone wants to know how this feels: :banghead:, try to get 1:34 in this car

Finally got 1:28 in the Alpine A110 1600S '72 after many :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I hate HATE when I get stuck on a x:xx.0

Last cars for today:

Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R '99
Nissan Skyline HT 2000GT-R (KPGC10) '70
Honda Civic 1500 3door CX '79
Mitsubishi Mirage 1400GLX '78
Volkswagen Golf I GTI '76

The Civic and Mirage have a lot in common, yet they're 2.5 seconds apart on the racetrack.

And the Golf is nearly 4 seconds quicker than the Civic! If the year was 1980 and I was in the market for a sporty hatchback, I'd buy a used GTI for sure.

Civic
1.5L
82 hp / 5,500 rpm
89 ft-lb / 3,500 rpm
780 kg
340 pp

Mirage
1.4L
80 hp / 5,500 rpm
88 ft-lb / 3,500 rpm
795 kg
333 pp

Well it's definitely a (very) high 1:24 car, but luck was not on my side, so I couldn't do better than 1:25.0 which I managed to get twice. Gave up after well over half an hour.

It's as fast as the 435 pp Ford Focus RS '02.

Also tested Nissan 280Z which is about 2.3 seconds slower than the 240Z.
