True, if it was to be on a hill like that it would have to be a really large hill, though those cities are probably much larger than what we are planning. There's no reason it couldn't be done on flatter terrain though. Something coastal with just mild hills would still work I think.

How about a colorful Mexican/Spanish/Italian theme, like a tight coastal city along these lines:

I've been itching to put colored wool to better use in construction, so if you wanted to do this I'd be glad to help out. I've wanted to start a project where multiple people contributed but strict guidelines were enforced to keep everything consistent (Things like building a solid foundation, constant road width and material, planned locations of important buildings, etc). I would like to participate if you plan on having these guidelines and having discussion to decide what they should be. For big projects like that, a good briefing is pretty important for making everything look natural.

What do you think?

I'd definitely want to build those kind of houses, and I've also wanted to see coloured wool used more. Only downside is 1 fire could burn it all down...

For stealing and grieving I have plugins and if someone does I can role back the stuff they took take it from them and back in chest and yes I have no lag no one on my server does I have put a lot of money on it and its performance is really good instead of critisicing try it and I don't wanna do it to get away from duncs I'm ban so I made a new one and I wanna work with dunc and queen there good owners.

yea that could work to, then for the town "command centre" we r planning on making a castle on an island off the coast

I'm curious how one person who is so young can afford to build a server. Minecraft is a fairly demanding game all things considered and is extremely memory hungry, not to mention to have a smoothly running server you need a halfway decent processor too. And this doesn't include having a stable internet connection with quite a bit of bandwidth.Although if you plan on having a fairly small map and having few people connected at a time it won't run to badly.

I've been working with a buddy of mine to build a solid server for all our gaming needs, one of those being minecraft. It's turning into anything but a cheap endeavour for him.

Minecraft is a fairly demanding game all things considered and is extremely memory hungry, not to mention to have a smoothly running server you need a halfway decent processor too. And this doesn't include having a stable internet connection with quite a bit of bandwidth.Although if you plan on having a fairly small map and having few people connected at a time it won't run to badly.

I plan to set up a server in the near future once I get an actual computer, not in any spite of this one, but the fact that I want my own playing space, and once I actually start producing something, I'll finally make something decent.

My first town has been built, it's essentially a massive desert path, straight with buildings at the side, based off a town on a PS2 game I'm very fond of.

Beep, insert a bit of thought before running off and making a server.

Or it would require a lot of terraforming. I would love to do an Italian themed town though, on the cliff, with a little harbour at the bottom. Having been to one myself, I'd have plenty of inspiration! :p

For the paths/roads, we would have to have cobble, and cobble steps. Personally that'd be most fitting, since all the side streets are cobblestones, and only a few main roads (with traffic) are tarmac. If we did we'd have to plan it by hand for the best results.

It's fairly obvious Beep is a liar, he gave 2 different stories for why his thread was titled wrong :dopey:

Also, liking the ideas for the town, we'll have to plan it all out once 1.9 is out.
 
Jai I've had a server and I have permission to make a thread and a server.
And minecraft does take a lot of time and I have time I can afford it,it isn't very hard really all you need is time,patience, money,and a good place to run it and that has a lot of memory and ram and I've got it all.
