OK, I want this game, but is multiplayer very CPU demanding? My laptop is a HP G60, it's a few years old, it only has a graphics chipset but I guess that doesn't matter for Minecraft. I guess my question is, is a gaming computer required for Minecraft? Yes it's a stupid question, but I have no clue about computer games.

Actually, good luck running it on an average laptop. Mine is a year old and couldn't run it for its life. Its fairly processor based, being Java and all.

EDIT:

Jai
I'll get right on it..

So he continues to do it.......

Built a new bridge from my Nether Fort, and cleared a bit of area at the other end if someone wants to build over there, the bridge has been grassed the whole way like the other shorter one, so just add more dirt next to the current grass and it will keep spreading (I think adding torches in the area helps grass spread), and someone can still build on the other side of the shorter bridge if they want.

Ghast doesn't seem to be able to destroy cobblestone, so in the coming days I will finish the new bridge underneath, the dirt is currently exposed and ghast can destroy it.

----side note regarding nether.
When the new bukkit comes, I think it would be best to bin the strawberry fields Nether (currently in storage), we then create a new one, and then stuff the old nether's main few cubic miles around the spawn into it?
We need the features of the new nether (netherforts & the Blaze mob, so we're missing out on Netherbrick+Fence, plus Blaze rod item) , but I don't think we should sacrifice our existing work on the old nether, it's nice, and I certainly don't want to lose the work I've done there. But do we really need two nethers? Thoughts?

It will play it "ok" but you will most likely will have to play with some lower video settings to reduce CPU use. I used a similar CPU as a test and it lagged with far video. Best to use a lower setting.

Thanks for the info guys. If I remember correctly the processor is around 2.5 GHZ, dual core of course. 👍 As long as I can play the game I'm fine.

The laptop I used was a Pentium and was clocked at 2.1GHz. You should do okay at the "short" render distance.

This server has crappy admins that blame you for everything, and claim that "they're too good for protection". Completely unprotected, so if you ever wanna grief, don't do it on the GTPlanet server, just do it here.

ITS UP ATM!!!! So hurry.

Minecraft is more RAM and GDDR RAM intensive than CPU intensive. Please, understand this!!!

Also, I'm back from my few days in Brisbane for mum's checkup. What's the latest?

Bai! Have fun!!! I wanna go to America (more to get my music carreer going quicker, but I wanna go to see friends etc as well). TAKE PICCIES!!!

Grief it, crappy admins, that kill you and ban you for no reason

Well, it's OK for him to say the IP once or twice to advertise it, but don't post it each time you say the server is up.

And if you're going to run a server, you need to be more dedicated and have it running longer. 10 minutes a day, you will have no one on.

Oh my god I'm sorry! I did not know my flooder was running. :ouch:

Look, I'm sorry about that, don't ban me please! Jail time is fine, sorry. I did not mean to do that and won't do it again. Sorry again.
