Okeydoke. Gimme 10 mins.

Which world do you guys want me to load on to the vanilla server? Or should I just generate a new temporary world?

Hosted servers. Worst thing in the world.
Apart from just about every main gaming server is hosted. You can only do so much hosting from home.
That and women...sophisticated things...
Each to their own I guess...
Anyways. It seems there's endless problems with things like this. Let me put it in retrospect:
Lag free my 🤬
The way I see it, how do you even know what hardware is in the system unless you see it yourself.
If they were under selling they could be sued big time. Of course we don't now for sure but it's unlikely they'll rip us off.
Limited access to server features
Let me ask you this. If you're on the other side of the world, tell me how you can edit the files and programs on the server to add plugins and such?
It will actually be hosted in France as it will be a European server. I will have full ftp access to all the files and folders and be able to edit everything I want. There will also be a sophisticated control panel that will make it much easier to install and configure plugins.
And if the server crashes?
Well here's one. If it goes down, you try telling me that it'll be put back up, if you're not the one that can do it.
They advertise 99.9% Availability. Any software crashes can be dealt with by me or TJ but are going to be very unlikely on more powerful equipment. The actual server going down is even more unlikely but sometimes these things happen.
Installing plugins and such
I've actually seen hosts where you've had to get permission to install a plugin...on the server you're playing $20 a month for.
See above about ftp and control panel access.
In conclusion, hosts are great...do destroy a server.
Hosts are the ONLY viable option for a large minecraft server. I'm not paying £2000 for a server here and then an extra £40 a month to get 50meg broadband. Home servers can only take you so far. I want to go further.
Also, might I ask, what is wrong with the way things are now?
Well nothing is majorly wrong, but as I said, we are pretty much at the maximum potential that a home based system can give. We may have more players in the future (hopefully), more worlds, more plugins, it won't be feasable to do this at home.
Hope that answers your questions.
